Revenge, Season 1, Episode 8: “Treachery”
Written by Ryan Scott
Directed by Bobby Roth
Airs Wednesdays at 10pm Et on ABC
Cléa Major: Episode 7 ended on a pretty significant cliffhanger: we had the murder of the Graysons’ henchman Frank; his reveal to Victoria that Amanda is not who she says she is; and the arrival of the real Emily Thorne in the Hamptons. Things seemed to be shaken up and I was definitely intrigued, but Amanda neatly avoids getting herself wrapped up in the murder. She’s always been a pro at thinking on her feet and getting out of tricky situations without losing a smidgen of face, but I was still surprised at how well things worked out for her, given how close Frank came to shouting her identity from the rooftops.
The possible wrench in her plans, because of course there’s always a wrench, is that the real...

Jane's Take Episode : "The End of the Road" by Ryan Scott and Jane Espenson
Spoilers Ahead!
This is the eighth episode out of ten of Torchwood: Miracle Day and the information dominoes are tumbling and the pace is getting fast and Star Trek actors are just everywhere! So let's go on this ride! As usual, I'm typing up these thoughts as I watch, so this is a bit random. I'm going for a DVD commentary kind of vibe.
First off, this episode was written in layers, which isn't an unusual way for things to happen. Ryan Scott wrote the first few drafts, then I did a rewrite, and then Russell T Davies did an uncredited rewrite of that, which is part of what show runners typically do, so there are pieces of all three of us in the final product.
The house that plays the role of the Colasanto...

Torchwood: Miracle Day Review, Episode 8: “End of the Road”
Written by Jane Espenson and Ryan Scott
Directed by Gwyneth Horder-Payton
Airs Fridays at 10pm (Et) on Starz
This week, on Torchwood: Angelo returns, Rex calls in the cavalry, Oswald tries to turn over a new leaf, Jilly gets a promotion, Gwen is deported, Jack is shot, and Esther goes on the run
After weeks of delays, things finally start picking up in this most recent episode. With the finale only two weeks away, characters seemingly forgotten from earlier in the season pop back up, reinforcing the feeling that many of the problems of Miracle Day can be traced back to its overly long episode order. The cast is back in top form and a couple notable guest stars make this one of the most enjoyable Miracle Day episodes this season. Though Esther does manage to win the Worst Spy Ever award this week,...

Jane's Take Episode 7: "Immortal Sins" by Jane Espenson
Warning: Lots of spoilers ahead.
This week's episode is one of mine – the last of the three I penned as a solo effort. This one may be my favorite of the three. I love a flashback and I love a roadtrip and this is both. This is an episode with a lot of talking and a bit of romance and a hint of the kind of Torchwood activities that were featured in the show in its earlier seasons.
We start in a beautiful recreation of Ellis Island in 1927 – look at the gorgeous costume work here by Shawna Trpcic. I had to do some research for this whole part – this is a little later in the history of Ellis Island than you usually see depicted in drama. The system changed in 1924, so it was no longer a chaotic open door, but it was still there,...

Tons of clips in today's update, so keep scrolling till you see Patton Oswalt. ;)
The second part of the interview The Gaming Liberty did with Bear McCreary has been posted (hit the link for the whole thing). No updates on Blood and Chrome after all. Here are a couple of quotes about Caprica & BSG (note - he is working on an *extended* Caprica soundtrack):
Retroplayer - So with Caprica being cancelled without the chance of a second series and BSG over are you proud of the work you did on them overall? How do you feel looking back?
Bear - I’m very proud of the work I did and contributions I made in helping to create a universe on those two series. I feel that BSG had such a profound influence on my life that even to try and talk about it is a fools errand. It changed me personally,...

Torchwood: Miracle Day finally kicks off tonight at 10 pm Et on Starz, then tomorrow at 9 pm on Space in Canada, and on Thursday, July 14 on BBC One in the UK. Here is the premise for the new season:
One day, nobody dies. All across the world, nobody dies. And then the next day, and the next, and the next, people keep aging – they get hurt and sick – but they never die. The result: a population boom, overnight.
With all the extra people, resources are finite. It's said that in four months' time, the human race will cease to be viable. But this can't be a natural event – someone's got to be behind it. It's a race against time as CIA. agent Rex Matheson investigates a global conspiracy. The answers lie within an old, secret British institute. As Rex keeps asking "What is Torchwood?" he's drawn into a world of adventure,...

It’s official! Eliza Dushku will indeed star in the Torchwood motion comic spin-off, Torchwood: Web of Lies. SciFi Mafia previously reported to you that Torchwood writer Jane Espenson (Dollhouse, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, BSG) hinted on Dushku’s casting in the project two weeks ago.
Espenson has teamed up with Torchwood: Miracle Day writer Ryan Scott to co-write the ten three-minute chapters of the motion comic. Web of Lies, developed by BBC Worldwide, will follow the lead of Starz’ motion comic spin-off for Spartacus.
Web of Lies will also star the voices of John Barrowman as Captain Jack Harkness and Eve Myles as Gwen Cooper.
Look for Torchwood: Web of Lies to hit the net just before the premiere of the BBC/Starz’ Torchwood: Miracle Day on July 8, 2011. A new chapter will be released after every new episode of Miracle Day.

Do you remember that cryptic tweet Jane Espenson wrote hinting that Eliza Dushku would be a part of the web series Torchwood: Web of Lies? It’s officially official now according to Entertainment Weekly. Dushku will be the main focus of the web series, which is going to be a motion comic similar to the Spartacus web series. If you’re a fan of that style than you’ll be pleased for this artistic direction. Of coure, Dushku won’t be carrying the load all on her own. Expect to hear the voices of John Barrowman and Eve Myles reprising their usual roles of Capt. Jack Harkness and Gwen Cooper respectively.
There will be a total of 10 episodes in this series, with each episode being about three minutes in length. As for the actual plot, well there isn’t much to say. Nothing has been said, but details should...

If you follow the most excellent TV writer @JaneEspenson (and if you don't, why not?), this news won't surprise you. A few weeks ago, Espenson, who's a writer for the upcoming Torchwood series revealed some news — along with a couple of teasers — via Twitter.
Yes, fans of Eliza Dushku knew who Espenson was tweeting about, but Thursday we finally got the official word via Entertainment Weekly: Dushku will star in Torchwood: Web of Lies, an online animated motion comic based on Torchwood: Miracle Day.
Of course, since Web of Lies is animated, Dushku's voice is the actual star, with her comic form performing onscreen. Torchwood stars John Barrowman (Capt. Jack Harkness) and Eve Myles (Gwen Cooper) will also lend their voices to the series.
Produced by BBC Worldwide, Web of Lies will have 10 three-minute webisodes, the first of which will go online before Torchwood premieres on Starz July 8. Subsequent...

Boy, that Eliza Dushku is a busy girl this week, eh? Not only is she landing (potentially) recurring role on White Collar, but now returning to her throne as reigning nerd queen!
Entertainment Weekly brings with them today the official announcement from BBC Worldwide that Eliza Dushku will take the lead role in an online motion comic series coinciding with Starz' Torchwood: Miracle Day, entitled Torchwood: Web of Lies. Writer Jane Espenson had previously implied Dushku's involvement heavily through her twitter.
Espenson best known for her work on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Torchwood, Dollhouse and Battlestar Galactica, will write the series along with Ryan Scott, which will take the form of three ten-minute installments, likely debuting before Miracle Day's July 8th premiere with new installments becoming available after subsequent episodes of the TV series.
