While it might not’ve been high cinema, the original Twilight translated Stephanie Meyer’s hit book series to the screen in a way that made pretty much all of the many fans quite happy. But they could’ve come away from the movie feeling quite differently if MTV and Paramount had stuck with their original script treatment, which deviated from the source material in some pretty damn silly ways.
This insight into Twilight‘s adaptation woes comes from director Catherine Hardwicke, who recently spoke to CinemaBlend and said the following:
The [initial] script that I read had gone through the whole development process at MTV and Paramount. And you get all these notes — nobody’s fault or anything — but you get notes, and you try this, you try this. So it had veered very far from the book, and so I did not like it at all. And no studio wanted to make it.

It's been a whole decade since Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) and Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) first locked eyes with each other in biology class, and to celebrate, Lionsgate Summit Entertainment and Fathom Events are bringing the vampire love story that defined a generation back to the big screen. For two days, Twilight is making its way back to 450 movie theaters around the country, giving fans of the box office phenomenon and Stephanie Meyer's bestselling series a chance to take a trip back in time to Forks, Wa, where it all began.
Based on Meyer's novel of the same name, Twilight was ripped from the pages and brought to life in 2008 and quickly became one of the year's biggest box office hits, as well as one of the highest-grossing female-directed films of all time. The Catherine Hardwicke-directed film follows Bella and Edward, a teenage girl and a vampire, respectively,...

About ten years ago, give or take, the Ya adaptation movement was beginning with the Twilight phenomena sweeping the globe. It was Stephanie Meyer’s books that gave a new pulse to the fiction sub-genre and Hollywood took notice. Within a few years, a plethora of novels were optioned into movies, notably The Hunger Games and Divergent, and the cash registers went into overdrive with studios being handsomely rewarded for their investments and risks.
Then, suddenly, the bubble burst – those who had championed the franchises had become adults and those coming of age found their attentions turning to other things. The Divergent series didn’t even get to finish its run with part three, Allegiant, tanking at the box office and part four still in limbo but we can safely assume that we won’t see it anytime soon. But such failure hasn’t seen the train slow down and...

Greenwell will lead the series as Myfanwy Thomas, a young woman who wakes up in a London park suffering total amnesia and is pursued by shadowy paranormal adversaries. Munn will play Monica Reed, a bold American intelligence officer with subtle supernatural powers who crashes into the Checquy investigation of her former lover’s death. Richardson has been cast as Lady Farrier, Myfanwy’s mentor and ally who sits at the head of the Checquy, defending her tenuous hold on its secrecy.
