Spider-Man: No Way Home was an immaculate experience for fans. It was surprising, and the hammer on the nail to lift Tom Holland to an engrossing height as Spider-Man. Also, remarkably, the nostalgia the movie created fascinated Marvel fans as the movie went on to receive immense accolades from both fans and critics.
Spider-Man and Doctor Strange in Spider-Man: No Way Home
With the surprising comeback of the previous Spider-Man actors Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield creating the union of the live-action Spider-Man trio, the movie also marks the reappearances of the iconic villains. Alongside Alfred Molina’s Doctor Octopus, fans also saw Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin and Jamie Foxx’s Max Dillon. With that note, Marvel fans may have certainly missed one or two details of the movie.

Spider-Man: No Way Home rocked the world of Marvel fandom more than two years ago and left the fans of the web-slinger immensely satisfied. One of the well-hidden secrets in the film was the appearance of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Mans from earlier Sony films. One scene involving Garfield’s Peter Parker has sparked new doubts about a potential plot hole in the billion-dollar-grossing film.
Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire in Tom Holland’s Spider-Man: No Way Home
In The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Jamie Foxx played the central villain Electro / Max Dillon. Dillon was an electrical engineer at Oscorp who idolized Spider-Man before a freak accident turned him into a powerful living electric capacitor. It is Spider-Man’s interactions with Max Dillon that are at the center of the new confusion.

Jamie Foxx is an incredibly gifted Academy Award-winning actor with a slew of impressive performances under his belt. The actor appeared in the TV show "In Living Color," Michael Mann's "Ali," "Collateral," and "Miami Vice," and won an Oscar for "Ray." There's seemingly nothing he can't do, which is why I was ecstatic when he landed the role of Electro in 2014's "The Amazing Spider-Man 2."
Foxx was worth every penny.
The comic book epic got bashed by critics upon its release. It was disappointing enough at the box office that Sony scrapped all plans for a follow-up. Thankfully, the movie gods gifted fans "Spider-Man: No Way Home," which brought back Foxx's Electro (and many more past favorites) for more Spidey-punching mayhem. And lucky for me, "No Way Home" makes it easier to pick out a handful of my favorite Foxx as Electro moments.
Be warned: there are many.

Few actors have enjoyed the sustained success of Academy Award-winner Jamie Foxx. After a successful stint on the popular comedy sketch series "In Living Color," Foxx rose to the big leagues and teamed up with Oliver Stone for the football drama "Any Given Sunday" in 1999. From there, he would find fortune and glory in the music industry and dramas such as Michael Mann's "Collateral" and Taylor Hackford's 2005 biographical drama "Ray," both of which earned him accolades from critics and a handful of awards.
Since then, Foxx has pivoted to action vehicles such as "Baby Driver," big-budget spectacles like "The Amazing Spider-Man 2," and weightier dramas like the critically-acclaimed "Just Mercy." All told, Foxx's cinematic body of work has amassed over 7 billion at the worldwide box office, making him one of this generation's most bankable stars.

Warning: General spoilers for "Spider-Man: No Way Home" will follow.
In case it wasn't obvious before that the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been cursed with a villain problem, the release of "Spider-Man: No Way Home" indirectly turns that narrative into, essentially, actual MCU canon. I mean, what else would you call bringing back five villains from prior "Spider-Man" films -- Rhys Ifans' Dr. Curt Conners/the Lizard, Jamie Foxx's Max Dillon/Electro, Thomas Haden Church's Flint Marko/Sandman, Alfred Molina's Dr. Otto Octavius/Doc Ock, and Willem Dafoe's Peter Osborn/the Green Goblin -- to make up for the fact that Tom Holland's Peter Parker hasn't exactly faced any Big...

Your hero is only as good as your villain. That conventional bit of Hollywood wisdom has been disproved by many a superhero movie in the last decade. Nevertheless, there’s still something exciting about a comic book movie villain who does work. The kind that offers a performance as big and exciting as anything the do-gooders get up to.
And in the realm of superhero movies, few characters have had a stronger roster of such baddies than the Spider-Man movies. Despite existing across three continuities, and three vastly different interpretations of the Web-Head, popularity for the best of Spidey’s rogues can last for years—or even decades—after their first appearance. Just look at the unbridled anticipation about Alfred Molina returning to the role of Doctor Octopus for proof.

At the beginning of Spider-Man: No Way Home — at least at the packed press screening I attended today — the three stars of the movie, as well as returning villain Jamie Foxx urged the audience to keep any spoilers to themselves and not spill the beans on any of surprises, and there are Alot of them. Such revelations would be terribly unfair to moviegoers, Marvel fans, and especially fans of this series, which has been going strong in various iterations for decades now.
This film is supposedly the culmination of the whole series, especially the arc that takes us back to the teenaged Spidey in the form of Tom Holland. He lends a fresh-faced appeal and real style to the role previously played by Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield.

Will ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ be first pandemic movie to open with $100 million at U.S. box office?
So far during the pandemic, no film has opened with $100 million at the U.S. box office, something that routinely happened pre-Covid-19. “Venom: Let There Be Carnage” came the closest by earning an impressive $90 million, outpacing other 2021 record-holders like “Black Widow” ($80 million), “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” ($75 million), “Eternals” ($71 million) and “F9: The Fast Saga” ($70 million). Can Sony Pictures Classics’ latest comic-book movie, “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” be the first to cross the $100 million mark domestically for its opening weekend?

Spider-Man: No Way Home has been teasing a universe-crossing cavalcade of supervillains, all of whom have been the center of serious questions set to be answered upon the film’s release next week. Interestingly enough, it appears that a potentially crucial detail has been divulged in advance about these Marvel Cinematic Universe-exiled remnants of previous movie iterations, notably the motivation for the chaos they’re causing. Indeed, said details come straight from returning cast members Willem Dafoe, Alfred Molina and Jamie Foxx.
Of course, this past summer’s first proper trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home finally confirmed the long-speculated notion of Dafoe back in his main antagonist role from 2002’s Spider-Man as Norman Osborn, a.k.a. the Green Goblin, and Molina reprising his role in 2004’s Spider-Man 2 as Otto Octavius, a.k.a. Doctor Octopus, with even more villains like Foxx’s Max Dillon, a.k.a.

Has there been a more anticipated trailer than this new one for Spider-Man: No Way Home over the last few years? We’re having serious trouble thinking of one. The secrecy surrounding this movie has sent speculation (and some genuine leaks) to a fever pitch almost unheard of in recent times. And both Sony and Marvel Studios have done their level best to lean in to the fan anticipation in every possible way, with teases, secrecy, more teases, outright denial, and a marketing campaign that has left absolutely nothing to chance.
But the new (and final) Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer is finally here. And it is perhaps even bigger, wilder, and weirder than anyone expected. And to be honest, we were expecting quite a lot right out of the gate, so that’s saying something.

At one stage, Jamie Foxx’s Electro was poised to be a major part of Sony’s planned Sinister Six, which had The Cabin the Woods‘ Drew Goddard set to write and direct, before the disappointing critical and commercial performance of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 nixed any plans for an expansive universe built out from the adventures of Andrew Garfield’s web-slinger.
Ever since the bombshell dropped that the Academy Award winner would reprise the role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Spider-Man 3, though, the rumor mill has gone into overdrive, with virtually every major player from any of the last seven live-action Spidey movies being linked with an unexpected return.
So far, absolutely none of reports have been confirmed by either Marvel Studios or Sony, but you’d imagine that some concrete information surely can’t be too far away given that production has been underway for almost three months at this point.

Remember when we thought Spider-Man 3 wasn’t even going to be in the McU? Well, at this point, it’s looking like it could be the most ambitious McU movie ever.
The Marvel/Sony co-production promises to break the doors down to the live-action Spider-Verse by bringing back loads of familiar faces from across the cinematic history of the web-slinger. And, though it’s not quite confirmed yet, it’s widely assumed that this means Tom Holland will get to team up with his predecessors in the role, Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield.
While we wait on an official announcement for that, fan artists are keeping us hyped by imagining how this could actually look. The latest effort comes from digital artist Israel2099_ on Instagram, who’s created an epic piece featuring the three wall-crawlers facing down some unknown threat – though that blue glow suggests it could be Jamie Foxx...

With filming underway right now on Sony and Marvel’s third McU Spider-Man movie, casting news was due to start breaking any time, and today brought a doozy: Alfred Molina, whose Doctor Octopus in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 2 is widely regarded as the best Spidey villain ever put on film, is returning for the yet-untitled McU Spider-Man 3.
As Molina’s return comes on the heels of the announcement that Jamie Foxx is returning as Electro from The Amazing Spider-Man 2, there has been a substantial increase in speculation as to what the still-untitled Spider-Man 3 is doing. The answer, it seems, is assembling a multiversal Sinister Six.
Strangely enough, the Queens-based friendly neighborhood Spider-Man has somehow become pop culture’s entry point for the superhero conception of the Many Worlds Theory. In the comics and in the best Spider-Man movie (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse), Peter Parker has become a...

You’d have to imagine that when any actor signs up for a role in a major franchise, they’ll need to agree to all sorts of non-disclosure agreements which strictly forbid them from revealing any details, and that then creates an infuriating cycle where the star in question hits the promotional circuit for their latest movie and inevitably fields questions about what’s coming next, but they can’t say anything so all we end up with are vague soundbites.

Fans were ecstatic earlier this month when it was revealed that Jamie Foxx is making a return to the Spider-Man franchise. Predictably, it now sounds like Sony’s quite eager to capitalize on the excitement of their audience, as according to FandomWire, the studio is reportedly discussing the viability of a potential spinoff for Electro after the release of Spider-Man 3.
Of course, this wouldn’t be the first time Sony has developed a film based on one of the web-head’s antagonists. Venom was a massive hit at the box office in 2018 and has now spawned a blockbuster series of its own. The same could easily happen if Foxx is awarded his own movie with the character audiences have come to love.
The Academy Award winner was last seen as Max Dillon in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 way back in 2014. Despite pulling in $709 million worldwide, the film was the lowest-grossing Spider-Man movie to date.

Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange is set to become a game-changing addition to the increasingly perplexing ensemble being assembled for the yet-to-be titled Spider-Man 3. Indeed, the habitual usage of “made-up names” now seems likely.

Moreover, the report confirms a notion regarding the addition of Doctor Strange that seems to be obvious, namely that it will fill the crucial gap of a mentor to the young hero left in the wake of Iron Man/Tony Stark’s sacrificial demise in Avengers: Endgame.

The next foe for Tom Holland’s hero is a new one for him, but a familiar one for audiences. In news that turned our expectations of the movie on their head, we learned this week that the star is returning as the supervillain in Spider-Man 3 after playing him back in Sony’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Marvel have yet to reveal whether Foxx is portraying the same Electro or an alternate McU version, but one thing we do know is that he won’t be blue this time.
Fan artists have now run with this tidbit, coming up with their own ideas for how Foxx could look as Max Dillon when we see him next. Fans are still wrapping their heads around the news that Jamie Foxx is returning to play Electro in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Spider-Man 3, which was an incredibly unexpected development given that he’s already portrayed the character before in Sony’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2, and that movie’s disappointing critical and commercial performance was one of the driving factors behind the studio’s unprecedented agreement with Kevin Feige’s team to share the web-slinger.
A lot of fans are wondering what it could all mean, especially with WandaVision set to introduce the McU’s multiverse on Disney Plus just a year before Tom Holland’s Peter Parker returns to our screens. Foxx may have confirmed that he won’t be blue this time around, but all signs point to him still playing the same version of Max Dillon that previously terrorized Andrew Garfield.

In 2012’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Jamie Foxx‘s nebbish Max Dillon falls into an eel tank and is electrified, turning his skin blue and transforming him into the supervillain Electro. The movie ended up being such a disaster that it derailed Sony’s plans to make more sequels…but as we learned this week, Foxx’s Electro is […]

Some big casting announcements have been made for the as yet untitled Spider-Man 3 (although it’ll most likely have ‘Home’ somewhere in its subtitle), and amidst the list of familiar names as returning characters is another one that’s also recognizable, but for a slightly different reason, as Jamie Foxx will be playing Electro.
Of course, Foxx previously turned up as the electrical supervillain in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Andrew Garfield’s second and final outing as the wall-crawler. This version of Max Dillon cast him as a low-level engineer working at Oscorp who gains his powers after falling into a tank of genetically engineered electric eels, his subsequent mental instability resulting in a maniacal desire for infamy, while his idolization of Spider-Man becomes twisted into dangerous obsession. He’s often forgotten about, though, as the movie is widely regarded as the weakest of any of the live action...

Thursday delivered some surprising news, as it was revealed that Jamie Foxx is in talks to return as Max Dillon Aka Electro in Spider-Man 3. Foxx previously played the supervillain in Sony’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2 in 2014, which makes this a huge deal as the last time he portrayed the role was in a totally different universe. As such, this either means that Spidey 3 will have a multiversal element or else Foxx is coming back as a slightly different version of the same character.
We’ve already had a precedent for this, of course, as J.K. Simmons made a cameo in Spider-Man: Far From Home as the McU’s J. Jonah Jameson, not the same one he played in the Sam Raimi trilogy. We knew that WandaVision would introduce the concept of the multiverse into Marvel’s shared mythology and that the events of the upcoming Disney Plus exclusive are set to tie directly into Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, but few people could have predicted that the franchise’s friendly neighborhood web-slinger would also end up getting involved.
The news that Jamie Foxx will be back as Electro in Spider-Man 3 is both entirely unexpected and incredibly exciting, because it indicates that the implications of the multiverse are going to reach even further than first thought. Of course, there’s been some speculation that the Project Power star could be portraying an entirely new version of the character, but we’ve now heard from our sources – the same ones that told us She-Hulk and Ms. Marvel were in the works before either was officially announced – that he’s definitely playing The Amazing Spider-Man 2‘s Max Dillon.

Most people are expecting Kraven the Hunter to be revealed as the villain in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Spider-Man 3, especially since it’s been announced that Triple Frontier director J.C. Chandor is in talks to helm a solo movie for the big game hunter as part of Sony’s SPUoMC. And while it still seems likely that he could first debut in the aforementioned threequel, he certainly won’t be the only antagonist involved.

Willem Dafoe has the distinction of being the very first cinematic Spider-Man villain, setting the bar high for every subsequent actor to play one of the wall-crawler’s nemeses that followed. Fans may like to debate the relative quality of his Power Rangers-like Green Goblin costume, but everyone’s in agreement that Dafoe was the perfect fit for the crazed Norman Osborn.
There would probably be a lot of celebration from Spidey lovers, then, if the multi Oscar-nominated actor were to return to the Marvel universe at some point. And thankfully, there’s apparently a chance of that happening. According to sources close to Wgtc – the same ones who told us a Percy Jackson TV show is in the works and Now You See Me 3 is in development – Marvel is eyeing Dafoe for another Spidey-verse role.

There’s no denying that Spider-Man has the deepest and most iconic rogues’ gallery in comic book history this side of Batman, and yet despite there having already been seven standalone Spidey movies, we’ve barely even scratched the surface. For too long the Green Goblin was virtually omnipresent, while the vast majority of the Sinister Six were stuffed into The Amazing Spider-Man 2 for either supporting roles or blink-and-you’ll-miss-it cameos.

Hugh even worked on the secret Roosevelt subway station where Richard Parker built a lab in a subterranean subway car. Fans have wanted to see Luke Cage brought to life on the big screen for quite a while; and although we are now getting a Netflix tv series featuring the character, at one point a movie was planned. Before the rights reverted back to Marvel Studios, John Singleton was on board to direct a Luke Cage movie at Colombia Pictures, and it seems Jamie Foxx may have been the man they wanted for the role. With The Amazing Spider-Man 2 due for home release this week, IGN have posted an interview with Foxx (Max Dillon/Electro) in which the actor reveals that he could possibly have played Cage "back in the day", He doesn't go into any details however, simply saying that things didn't work out. “My name is Richard Parker. I have no idea what’s going on.” The cryptic video message from Peter’s dad, a storyline first teased in The Amazing Spider-Man, continues in the sequel to Sony’s reboot of its cash cow franchise. Of course, Papa Parker isn’t confused over the connections between his family and the machinations of OsCorp, nor does he hint at why The Amazing Spider-Man 2 might link Peter’s powers with the fate of his enemies. Neither does Marc Webb, for that matter. The universe of Webb’s second superhero flick in 4 years doesn’t expand so much as it has more stuff thrown at it. More villains, more plot threads, and more music.
And when it comes to The Amazing Spider-Man 2‘s score, “more” is key. After James Horner’s unremarkable work in the 2012 reboot,...

After watching 2012's The Amazing Spider-Man, I felt underwhelmed and thought the film was mediocre at best. Despite that the sequel is an improvement, unfortunately it's not enough to warrant the convoluted story, and jumbled narrative. Yet again Sony does a terrible marketing job, showing off a majority of the film, whereas I wasn't surprised by the main plotpoints, along with leaving many scenes out on the cutting room floor. Of course there are some positives with this film, one of them being Andrew Garfield who truly is a great Peter Parker/Spider-Man. And the relationship he has with real life girlfriend Emma Stone really shines here, and even though the little intimate scenes between Peter and Gwen seemed forced, it works for what it's going for. As for the villains, starting off with Max Dillon/Electro portrayed by Jamie Foxx is overly goofy, which I had no problem with.

Though it seems I may be in the minority here, I can honestly say that as a long term Spider-man fan I think the new film is certainly the best Spidey flick I've ever seen and is quite possibly one of the greatest comic book movies I've ever had the pleasure of watching.
But what about the Avengers flick, I hear you cry, or X-Men First Class? They're great, nay, awesome films, no question, but though it's not without its flaws The Amazing Spider-man 2 just about nails everything that makes the reading of comic books such a joy. Well it does for me,...

Columbia Pictures (Sony) released their new "Amazing Spider Man 2" super hero/action flick into theaters this weekend. I just checked it out, and thought it phenomenal. It was jam-packed with a ton of action, drama, suspense, special affects, and more. It stars: Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx, Dane DeHaan, Campbell Scott, Embeth Davidtz, Colm Feore, Paul Giamatti, Sally Field, and B.J. Novak. In the new flick, we see Spiderman aka Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) ,slinging webs through the city, once again, fighting crime and rescuing people, left and right. However, the main plot in this particular scenario, was to capture Aleksei Sytsevich, who attempted to steal a truck containing plutonium vials. During the chase, Spider-Man rescues OsCorp Industries employee ,Max Dillon aka Electro (Jamie Foxx). We also see Peter's childhood friend ,Harry Osborn, arrive on the scene to visit his terminally ill father Norman, CEO of OsCorp. Norman tells Harry his illness is hereditary,...

The first Amazing Spider-Man felt like a pretty cynical piece of cinema. A reboot of a franchise barely five years dead (and rumored to be born only out of the necessity for Sony to hold on to the rights for the titular character), the finished product was rather underwhelming. A padded runtime, a perfunctory script and a thoroughly dull adversary overruled the undeniable merits of Andrew Garfield as the spandexed web-slinger. Thankfully, that’s not the case this time around. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 feels like a proper movie. It may never reach the wonderful heights of Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 2, but with its goofy sense of humor and super-villain overkill, it’s the best Spider-Man film since that landmark.
This sequel somehow manages to be very heavy on plot, yet feather-light in its writing. There are two separate bad guys this time (Jamie Foxx’s Electro and Dane DeHaan...

In the superhero movie genre, the second part in a series is typically better than the original (Iron Man 2 being one of the few exceptions to the rule). That’s because the first movie is burdened with the task of setting up the hero’s origin, while the sequel gets to jump right in. Such is the case with The Amazing Spider-Man 2. The only difference with the Spider-Man franchise is that we’ve seen old web head’s origin twice in less than a dozen years. While Amazing breathed new life into the franchise, it was pretty tedious watching because of the plot retreads necessary to tell Spidey’s origin. Thankfully, while a flawed movie, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 doesn’t get caught in a web of similar constraints.

On my latest adventure to the local theater, I went to see Marc Webb's most recent film, The Amazing Spider-Man 2. I've heard and seen many reviews, either saying that it was as the title implies, Amazing, or that they weren't happy with the outcome. So I was very curious to see what was so great and what was so wrong about the movie. Read on after the jump! So I'll start off with the basic plot of the film. Peter Parker is living the good life as Spider-Man, stopping random thugs such as Paul Giamatti's Aleksei Sytsevich, saving kids from bullies at school, and rescuing civilians from danger such as Jamie Foxx's Max Dillon. But as new villains emerge, our friendly neighborhood wall-crawler must face his hardest challenges yet, as he must take on Electro as well as the Green Goblin, meanwhile still searching for clues about his parents.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2
Written by Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, and Jeff Pinkner
Directed by Marc Webb
USA, 2014
The distinct whiff of chaos pervades The Amazing Spider-Man 2 from its first scene, both narratively and visually. Because its director and writers aren’t likely intending on this sequel to a reboot to feel persistently, unavoidably messy and chaotic, it also winds up being about as mediocre despite having a handful of charming moments as its predecessor. The ensemble cast is full of charismatic performers, but only a few are allowed to utilize their inherent charm while others are shoved into comic-book character tropes awkwardly, as if they’re being forced to wear tight-fitting clothing for a family portrait. Even though Spider-Man and his world is as bright and colorful as that of The Avengers, the other big Marvel property these days, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 leans too hard on the...
