We’ve got movie sign!
Well, almost. Mystery Science Theater 3000 season 13 debuts at 8 pm Est on Friday, March 4th! But it’s going to look a little different this time, and not just because the beloved comedy series won’t be on the cable channels it called home from 1989-1999. Nor will it be on Netflix, like seasons 11 and 12.
No, season 13 will be streaming on the Gizmoplex, a streaming service designed especially for MST3K. Series creator Joel Hodgson announced the Gizmoplex at the start of the “Make More MST3K” Kickstarter from last year. According to Hodgson, Gizmoplex will serve as a home for all things MST3K. That’s where you’ll find not only Season 13 episodes, including Gamera vs. Jiger and the dreaded Munchie, but also all available episodes from previous seasons.
Although you can access the site today – or download apps for Apple, Android, and Roku...

Mystery Science Theater 3000’s Turkey Day isn’t just an annual marathon of classic episodes to sit back and watch on Thanksgiving. Depending on the timing, fans watch it hoping to see some kind of news. In this era when MST3K’s always in flux, viewers have their fingers crossed that we’re going to see some kind of look into the future of the franchise. Luckily, Turkey Day 2021 gave us plenty to sink our teeth into.
To get us back up to speed, after years of being off TV, a Kickstarter campaign started up in 2015 and successfully brought MST3K back for an eleventh season on Netflix for 2017. It ran for fourteen episodes and while the new cast needed some time to figure themselves out, it had plenty of high notes. Then things seemed to wither before it had a chance to soar.

When it comes to Thanksgiving, we all have our non-eating traditions. Many like to watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade or check out a game or two of football. For many a geek, Thanksgiving is a day that lets us sit back and watch a whole lot of Mystery Science Theater 3000. It’s part of the show’s DNA. The first episode debuted back on Thanksgiving in 1988. Then the idea of a Thanksgiving marathon became a regular part of Comedy Central’s calendar. Years later, MST3K episodes would be spread through Thanksgiving whether or not there was any news on new seasons being in the works.
Luckily, this is one of those years where there’s a new season in the works! As we await MST3K Season 13, we’ll get another MST3K Turkey Day on our plate to enjoy. On November 25, starting at 9am Et, we’re getting eight classic episodes.

“Mystery Science Theater 3000” is coming back strong.
The beloved cult series will be back with more original episodes and a custom online distribution platform thanks to another successful Kickstarter campaign. The campaign, which concluded May 7 after 30 days, raised over $6.5 million with over 36,000 backers.
Series creator Joel Hodgson will use the money to fund 13 new episodes, including the show’s first 3-D episode, 12 new short film riffs, a holiday special that will feature Hodgson, Jonah Ray and Emily Marsh as co-hosts, and to build The Gizmoplex, new virtual theater and online community hub that will be the exclusive home of the next season for its initial run.
Each new episode will be released one at a time as they are ready for release, rather than holding them until the entire season is complete. The Gizmoplex is also expected to host live episode premieres, watch parties, and special events. The most...

A few years ago, Mystery Science Theater 3000 made its grand return. Through an incredibly successful Kickstarter, they raised enough money and showed proof of enough fan interest to get the show back with a new season. Netflix acted as the home to the eleventh season with fourteen episodes and much fun was had by all. The Return also led to a series of live tours that kept going until Covid kicked in and they also did a Dark Horse comic spinoff.
Unfortunately, Netflix wasn’t so enthusiastic in the aftermath. The twelfth season only contained six episodes, emphasizing the challenge of binge-watching them. Then Netflix unceremoniously dumped the show. Well, at least we have the fourth season of Glow to look forward to.
…oh, you bastards.
But now the MST3K team have a brand-new Kickstarter project, “Let’s Make More MST3K & and Build the Gizmoplex!” Yes, Joel Hodgson...

It’s an unfortunately quiet time for Mystery Science Theater 3000 fans. About a year ago, it was announced that Netflix was not going to be picking up the series for another season. While waiting for the contract to run out so they could move the series elsewhere, creator Joel Hodgson was able to fall back on doing a third tour of live shows through the country. This plan dissipated once Covid reared its ugly head.
As we wait for time to move forward so that MST3K can breathe again, we can at least take solace in Thanksgiving, the holiday where MST3K truly gets to thrive. Since its inception, MST3K has been linked to Thanksgiving and it’s been an annual tradition to celebrate the series with a Turkey Day marathon. Especially in the digital age, Turkey Day means getting to sit down and enjoy six classic episodes of MST3K...
