“Elena of Avalor” will conclude with a primetime finale special in which the titular character, who is Disney’s first Latina princess, finally becomes queen. (“Blaze!”)
Disney Junior’s “Elena of Avalor” tells the story of Elena, a brave and adventurous teenager who has been learning what it takes to be a great leader by ruling her enchanted fairytale kingdom as crown princess until she is old enough to be queen.
In the series finale, as plans for Elena’s coronation are underway, Esteban’s team of villains unleash legendary spirit misfits, the Four Shades of Awesome. In order to save her kingdom, her family and her friends, Elena must journey to the Spirit World and back, and face the ultimate test of her courage and character, before becoming queen.

Gabriele Muccino’s emotional drama about a teenager holidaying in San Francisco is slightly preposterous but watchable for its unpredictability
Gabriele Muccino is a commercially minded Italian director with a foothold in Hollywood, and I have a soft spot for his emotional drama The Pursuit of Happyness (2006), starring Will Smith as the single dad trying to pull himself up out of poverty by his bootstraps.
There’s a fair bit of sugar in the mix here. His new movie (in the Cinema del Giardino sidebar) is a coming-of-age story about a lonely, intense Italian teen called Marco (Brando Paccito) who uses the payout following a motor scooter accident to fund the summer holiday of a lifetime in San Francisco. The snag is that he finds himself having to go with Maria (Matilda Lutz), an uptight princessy type from his school whose homophobic attitudes come out into the open when she...

Title: L’estate addosso (Summertime) Director: Gabriele Muccino Starring: Brando Pacitto, Matilda Lutz, Taylor Frey, Joseph Haro. Gabriele Muccino began his conquest of America through Will Smith’s support who wanted him to direct both ‘In Pursuit of Happyness’ and ‘Seven Pounds.’ Muccino’s star and stripes adventure continued directing actors of the calibre of Gerard Butler, Uma Thurman, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Dennis Quaid and Jessica Biel (‘Playing For Keeps’), as well as Russell Crowe and Amanda Seyfried (‘Fathers and Daughters’). In his latest film Muccino tries to go indie bringing Italy and the USA together…but the outcome is disastrous. The summer after high school graduation is a contemplative time, a period when the future seems so frightening and yet so filled with possibility. Gabriele Muccino’s latest film “Summertime” follows Marco (Brando Pacitto) and Maria (Matilda Lutz), two Italian teens uncertain about their future but eager to embark on a road-trip through America. They land in San Francisco where they meet Matt (Taylor Frey) and Paul (Joseph Haro), a gay couple who take them in and show them around the city. Soon, the four become fast friends and embark on enthusiastic explorations of love, life, and themselves, trying to discover and define who they are during a summer they’ll never forget. Beau Mirchoff as “Matty” on Awkward.
Teen Wolf may be howlingly homoerotic (see our Teen Wolf gay highlight reel for proof), but let’s not overlook the welcome gay overtones of another MTV gem. Awkward. is nearing the end of it’s third season and since the show’s launch in July 2011 it has featured plenty of queer highlights, such as that proud bromance between Jake (Brett Davern) and Matty (Beau Mirchoff), witty gay sidekick Clark (Joey Haro) throwing shade from the sidelines and secretly hooking up with closeted, now-deceased Ricky (Matthew Fahey). There was also that “It Gets Moderately Ok” video and Ming (Jessica Lu) taking a girl to the prom.

Awkward., Season 3, Episode 12: “And Then What Happened”
Written by Lauren Iungerich
Directed by Lauren Iungerich
Airs Tuesdays at 10:30 Pm on MTV
While the audience has been aware of Jenna and Collin’s bubbling romance since nearly the beginning of the third season, the two have managed to keep it largely hidden from the rest of the school, even avoiding acting on the impulses themselves. All of this abruptly came to a head last week, as Lacey’s ability to keep a secret party secret from Jenna worked a little too well, and the two were caught red-handed by several people, including Matty. This week’s episode examines the aftermath of the reveal, managing to effectively balance the show’s comedic and dramatic elements in a solid episode.

One new sitcom is no longer in the NBC family. The peacock network has canned Welcome to the Family after three low-rated episodes.
On Welcome to the Family, a pair of very different families are brought together when their teens get "in a family way." The sitcom's cast includes Mike O'Malley, Mary McCormack, Ricardo Chavira, Justina Machado, Ella Rae Peck, Joseph Haro, and Fabrizio Guido.
The comedy started out with very low ratings and the numbers got worse in week two. They seem to have shown a little growth last night but the ratings were still terrible. As a result, NBC has swung the axe.
It's unclear what will become of the unaired episodes or how many installments have actually been produced. NBC initially ordered 13 of them.

NBC certainly needs help on Thursday night. Will Welcome to the Family be the answer to their ratings prayers? Will it be a success or cancelled instead? [See the update below.]
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show's likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available -- usually the next day, around 11:30am Est/8:30am Pst. Refresh to see the latest.
10/18 update: NBC has cancelled Welcome to the Family after three episodes.

I wanted to like Welcome to the Family, I really did. It has a strong cast playing the two sets of parents. Its premise is straightforward, and even contains some weighty issues. Its lead-in is Parks and Recreation.
But I don’t. I strongly disliked the premiere. The show, which centers on two families who must overcome their differences because their teenage children are about to have a baby and want to stay together, had potential, but because everything that could have been good about Welcome to the Family (a.k.a. “Wttf,” as the promos continue to bash into our heads) fails to deliver.

The latest entry into NBC's Thursday night comedy lineup has the makings of a promising new show. "Welcome to the Family" is bit of a spin on "Romeo and Juliet," only it takes place in Southern California and Juliet's pregnant. There's also no death.
Instead of the Montagues and the Capulets, "Welcome to the Family" is about the Yoder and Hernandez families. Dan (Mike O'Malley) and Caroline (Mary McCormack) Yoder are just happy their wild child daughter Molly (Ella Rae Peck) somehow managed to graduate high school, while Miguel (Ricardo Chavira) and Lisette (Justina Machado) Hernandez are ready to see their son Junior (Joseph Haro) off to the ivy league. All of those plans change when Molly tells Junior she's pregnant. Naturally, she does it via text message while he's giving his valedictorian speech at graduation.

Call them the walking wounded, I guess. I like the actors in NBC's Welcome to the Family and CBS's The Millers, but neither immediately struck me as un-skippable, and a couple of weeks after watching the pilots, I had to rewatch both to remind myself of what happened. The answer, as you probably guessed, is "not much." I'm very, very, very happy that so many performers I adore are getting steady paychecks (for now, anyway), but that's about as far as my goodwill can extend.Welcome to the Family, about what happens when a Mexican-American boy (Joseph Haro) gets his Anglo girlfriend (Ella Rae Peck) pregnant right before high school graduation, is a culture-clash sitcom, wacky but earnest in that Modern Family sorta way. The premise might remind you of CBS's short-lived ¡Rob! — although I'm sure my invoking that failed Rob Schneider vehicle will please nobody at NBC. But here's...

Chicago – People often ask me why low-rated NBC shows like “Community” keep getting renewed (or how “Whitney” and “Up All Night” got a second season) and I often turn to a sports analogy — they have no one in the minor leagues to replace them.
And yet last year’s team did so poorly that they cleaned a lot of house and brought in the big guns to try and rebuild the team — Michael J. Fox, Sean Hayes, and Mike O’Malley come to Thursdays. Most people like the Fox show (although more of you should watch it). The same is unlikely to be said about the Hayes and O’Malley vehicles, both premiering tonight and both striking out.

In the past two years, Joseph Haro has gone from playing an unnamed Warbler on "Glee" to a recurring part on "Awkward" to a starring role on NBC's new comedy "Welcome to the Family," which premieres at 8:30 p.m. Et Thursday (Oct. 3).
That's a pretty good career trajectory for a young actor. Haro holds his own just fine opposite the veteran stars of the show -- Ricardo Chavira and Justina Machado as his parents and Mike O'Malley and Mary McCormack as the parents of his girlfriend (Ella Rae Peck), who announces on their high school graduation day that she's pregnant.

Comparing a weekly TV comedy to Shakespeare may sound ridiculous, but "Welcome to the Family" stars Mike O'Malley and Ricardo Chavira are in on the joke.
O'Malley ("Glee," "Justified") and Chavira ("Desperate Housewives") star as two fathers whose worlds collide when their teenage children reveal an unexpected pregnancy. So there's more than just "Romeo and Juliet" in the mix for this feuding families comedy, there's a little bit of "Knocked Up" and "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner" too.
Mary McCormack ("In Plain Sight") and Justina Machado ("Six Feet Under") co-star as O'Malley and Chavira's respective wives, while Ella Rae Peck ("Deception") and Joseph Haro ("Awkward") are their kids.
Watch O'Malley and Chavira explain it all in the video above and check out "Welcome to the Family" when it premieres Thursday, Oct. 3 at 8:30 p.m. Et on NBC.

Congrats, "Guilt Trippin'!" You are the newest addition to my list of favorite Awkward episodes.
Going into Awkward Season 3, I had some lingering self-doubt if breaking up the triangle so quickly would end up pulling a lot of the tension and wind out of the show’s sails. But it's been the opposite: the pairings have invigorated the show and the writing immensely.
This week’s installment didn’t involve much drama to push forward the storylines, aside from Jenna’s usual insecurities. Her guilt over having a date and remembering what it’s like to not have one nearly caused her to bail altogether. It served as a nice reminder of how Jenna has come, but her obsession over it remained intense.
It all goes back to Jenna misreading the social situation and proceeding to build up expectations and ideas that just aren’t there. She’s done so...
Going into Awkward Season 3, I had some lingering self-doubt if breaking up the triangle so quickly would end up pulling a lot of the tension and wind out of the show’s sails. But it's been the opposite: the pairings have invigorated the show and the writing immensely.

What happens when two very different families are forced to come together after their dating children reveal an unexpected pregnancy? Well, in the new NBC comedy "Welcome to the Family," that answer is hijinks.
One of the three new comedies joining NBC's famed Thursday night lineup this fall, "Welcome to the Family" stars Mike O'Malley ("Glee") and Mary McCormark ("In Plain Sight") as Dan and Katrina Yoder, whose daughter Molly (Ella Rae Peck, "Deception") gets knocked up by her boyfriend Junior (Joseph Haro, "Awkward"), forcing the Yoders to deal with his parents, Miguel (Ricardo Chavira, "Desperate Housewives") and Lisette (Justina Machado, "Private Practice").
The show will follow "Parks and Recreation" in the lineup, at 8:30 p.m. Also in the mix this fall are Sean Hayes' return to NBC with "Sean Saves the World" and 9 p.m. and "The Michael J. Fox Show" at 9:30 p.m.

You know that a network has stopped taking risks when they start billing Michael J. Fox as their biggest, buzziest star. Yes, the artist formerly known as Alex P. Keaton (and currently know as an Emmy-magnet guest star) will return to NBC this fall, right back where he started with Family Ties, to star in his new sitcom, The Michael J. Fox Show, which kicks off a whole new family-themed Thursday night. That means no more witty, career-minded single ladies and cult-movie-referencing twentysomethings on Must-See TV. (Parks and Recreation is still around, but it’s been moved to the 8:00 Pm sudden-death time slot,...

The Fall TV Season presentations for all the new network shows take place this week with the first announced today. Here's a full breakdown of which concepts have made the final list over on NBC.
The Peacock did not have a good year. Only one of its new shows, "Revolution," was a true hit. Another, "Chicago Fire," got renewed by the skin of its teeth whilst the fate of a third, "Hannibal," remains uncertain.
None of last year's new comedies survived, neither did two mid-season dramas, which leaves the network with some big holes to fill. Three dramas and three comedies will debut in the Fall ahead of three more dramas and two comedies mid-season. Two further dramas and a comedy are presently unscheduled.
Several other pilots didn't make the final cut and won't become series including the high-profile Charlize Theron-produced drama about the Hatfields and McCoys, the Bruckheimer-produced...

The new fall season is closer than you think, and NBC has released their full schedule. Apart from reality favorites The Biggest Loser and The Voice, they are mixing things up quite a bit.
Take a look at a complete preview of the shows coming your way, and mark your calendars. It looks good for NBC this year, and while I’m not sure all of these look like winners, I think you’ll find at least a couple that you’re really going to like.
Blacklist – Fall

For decades, ex-government agent Raymond “Red” Reddington (James Spader) has been one of the FBI’s most wanted fugitives. Brokering shadowy deals for criminals across the globe, Red was known by many as “The Concierge of Crime.”
Now, he’s mysteriously surrendered to the FBI with an explosive offer: he will help catch a long-thought-dead terrorist, Ranko Zamani,...

James Spader returns to NBC with "The Blacklist" on this fall.
The "Office" alum and longtime "Boston Legal" star returns to the spotlight on the Peacock network and this time, instead of upholding the law (albeit via blackmail, bribery and the like), he's breaking it. In NBC's upcoming series "The Blacklist," Spader stars as Raymond “Red” Reddington, the most wanted man in the world.
Check out Spader and his devilish ways below in NBC's new four-minute trailer for "The Blacklist", as well as two new preview clips, and scroll down for more previews and official descriptions of the new series on NBC's 2013-2014 schedule: the “Ironside" remake starring Blair Underwood, the new Mike O'Malley comedy "Welcome To The Family," Sean Hayes' return to sitcoms with "Sean Saves The World," and, of course, the highly-anticipated "Michael J. Fox Show."

Chicago – When you’re in as much of a ratings struggle as NBC, it makes sense to shake things up and that’s exactly what they’re doing in the Fall with a new show or an old show in a new time every single night of the week. “Chicago Fire,” “Revolution,” “The Biggest Loser,” “Parks and Recreation,” and “Parenthood” are moving. “Community” is being held until a midseason, 13-episode run. No decision yet made on “Celebrity Apprentice” or “Hannibal,” which isn’t that surprising as they are mid-season shows anyway although it shouldn’t give fans of either program confidence as NBC announced a midseason schedule as well and they’re not on it. Anything could still happen with either program however and they could be held as replacements for shows that fail. That may be the best shot for “Hannibal” fans now. The best new show on the...

Justina Machado is set as a lead opposite Mike O’Malley, Mary McCormack and Ricardo Chavira in Welcome To The Family, NBC‘s single-camera comedy from Mike Sikowitz and Sony TV. Also cast as in a lead role in the pilot is Joey Haro (Glee, Awkward). Welcome To The Family chronicles how cultures collide when white parents (O’Malley, McCormack) and Latino parents (Chavira, Machado) are bonded together by their children Molly (Ella Rae Peck) and Junior (Haro) who fall in love followed quickly by an unplanned pregnancy. Machado’s Lisette works at the Dmv and is committed to co-parenting her son (Haro) with her ex-husband Miguel (Chavira). For Machado, repped by Apa and D2 Management, Welcome To The Family is in first position to her USA pilot Paging Dr. Freed, an arrangement mirroring that for Paging Dr. Freed‘s Annie Potts who plays a lead in ABC’s dramedy pilot Murder In Manhattan.
