Joe Biden’s administration suffered its first major setback in securing confirmation of administration nominees, after Neera Tanden withdraw her nomination as the next director of the Office of Management and Budget.
“I have accepted Neera Tanden’s request to withdraw her name from nomination for Director of the Office of Management and Budget,” Biden said in a statement. “I have the utmost respect for her record of accomplishment, her experience and her counsel, and I look forward to having her serve in a role in my Administration. She will bring valuable perspective and insight to our work.”
It has been clear for some time that Tanden was unlikely to secure enough votes for confirmation amid Republican opposition, which largely focused on her past social media posts in which she at times blasted lawmakers in both parties. Although Democrats control the Senate, Sen. Joe Manchin (D-w. Va.) announced that he would be voting against her,...

If an Illinois lawmaker has their way, then Grand Theft Auto and other violent video games could soon be “banned” in that state. Why? Well, along with the usual moral panic excuses, it seems that Rep. Marcus C. Evans, Jr. believes GTA could be partially responsible for recent Chicago crime waves.
This proposal (House Bill 3531) is actually an amendment to a 2012 law that prohibits the sale of certain video games to minors. Under the new bill, restrictions would be expanded to prevent all sales of what the documents refer to as “violent video games.”
In the bill, a violent video game is described as a game that “allows a user or player to control a character within the video game that is encouraged to perpetuate human-on-human violence in which the player kills or otherwise causes serious physical or psychological harm to another human or an animal.” As you have probably gathered,...

During Tuesday’s episode of “The View,” co-host Meghan McCain — fresh off her divisive rant about Dr. Anthony Fauci and the messaging of the Covid-19 vaccine rollout — didn’t sugarcoat her feelings toward Neera Tanden, President Biden’s nominee for Office of Management and Budget director.
McCain called her “one of the worst trolls on Twitter,” continuing with “anybody who knows anything about politics or has been around for any period of time knows it’s not just her tweets.”
McCain brought up reports of Tanden punching a reporter and the fact that she was called “impossible to trust” after naming a victim of sexual harassment in a company meeting.
“If you’re comfortable with people who assault reporters and expose victims of sexual harassment in public forums…if this is the kind of character Democrats want, fine,” McCain argued. “But I think you’re talking about someone violent, someone...

Joe Biden on Tuesday unveiled members of his economic team, led by Janet Yellen, the former chair of the Federal Reserve, as the Treasury Secretary.
Biden also took the attention over the announcement to call for passage of another Covid-19 relief package, which has been stalled in Congress. CNN, MSNBC and BBC World News all covered the event live, as did ABC and, on the West Coast, NBC. Fox News did not go to the President-elect’s remarks and introduction of his economic team. Instead, Harris Faulkner’s Outnumbered Overtime had segments on Covid-19 school closures and Donald Trump’s ongoing refusal to accept the results of the election. Sister network Fox Business did carry the event.

Fox News host Laura Ingraham was criticized Wednesday night after warning viewers that “demographic changes” were being “foisted” on the United States and said that “the America we know and love doesn’t exist anymore.”
“In some parts of the country, it does seem like the America that we know and love doesn’t exist anymore. Massive demographic changes have been foisted upon the American people, and they are changes that none of us ever voted for, and most of us don’t like,” said Ingraham.
“From Virginia to California, we see stark examples of how radically, in some ways, the country’s changed,” she added. “Much of this is related to both illegal and — in some cases — legal immigration that, of course, progressives love.”

CNN’s Don Lemon reprimanded guests on Monday night, threatening to end a segment and warning, “It doesn’t do any good when both of you are talking over each other, when you don’t listen to the moderator.” Republican Mike Shields and Democrat Neera Tanden were arguing about the special election in Georgia’s 6th District between Democratic candidate John Ossoff and Republican candidate Karen Handel. The CNN host said, “One at a time,” but the two guests continued to speak. “Both of you please, stop, stop, stop. Let’s stop. Let’s stop. Let’s stop,” Lemon intervened.

Last night’s Real Time with Bill Maher with Roger Stone, Neera Tanden, Gen. Michael Hayden, Rick Santorum, and Jose Antonio Vargas did not disappoint. The heady episode had the panelists cover the past war sins of the neocons, the shortcomings of the Democrats, the lunacy of Trump’s administration and the milestone of Maher’s 420th show. Bill Maher’s top-of-show interview with Trump associate Roger Stone, who he dubbed the president’s “albino assassin”, included intense questioning over the Russian hacker Guccifer 2.0 and Russia’s alleged interference in the 2016 election.
