Fans have been wondering when and how Jimmy Olsen might show up in the DC Cinematic Universe since Man Of Steel was in the works. If you remember, there were rumors that Jimmy Olsen would show up in that movie as a female for awhile, but, in the end, Rebecca Buller's character turned out to be Jenny Urwich, not Jenny Olsen, and the popular photographer still... We were all blown away last week when it was announced that Ben Affleck will be putting on the cape and cowl to play Batman in Zack Snyder’s hugely-anticipated Batman vs. Superman.
Though it’s unlikely that any upcoming announcement could top that for the sheer Wtf factor, there’s a lot of casting left to take place, presuming that no actors from Christopher Nolan’s Batman films will be joining Affleck in the Batman portion of the movie (as this would just confuse general audiences).
Recasting iconic characters who have been made as memorably their own as Michael Caine’s Alfred and so on certainly won’t be easy, and if Snyder and co. screw it up, they’ll be losing half the battle before they even think about what Supes is going to get up to in the movie, as well as the villains the pair might...

After 75 years of dominating the pop culture landscape with comics, TV shows, movies, books, toys, games and even his own brand of bread (really!), Superman is so ingrained in our culture that most people take the details for granted. You know, faster than a speeding bullet, more powerful than a locomotive, yada yada.
And then there's "Man of Steel," which takes all those familiar aspects of Superman you take for granted and dumps them.
Sure, Henry Cavill's take on the Last Son of Krypton is still mostly familiar. But Warner Bros. tasked director Zack Snyder and producer Christopher Nolan with making Superman relevant for a new generation and they've clearly taken that directive very seriously, with a number of updates and omissions that may surprise you. So with that in mind, here are 7 Ways "Man of Steel" Rebels From the Superman Mythos.
Warning: Spoilers follow for "Man of Steel.

According to a photo posted by ScreenCrush, the rumors that Superman's pal Jimmy Olsen may actually be Jenny Olsen in "Man of Steel" are at least partially true.
The picture's caption reveals that the woman pictured alongside Laurence Fishburne's Perry White in the above photo is Jenny Olsen, played by Rebecca Buller. But the article goes on to say that this character isn't a replacement for Jimmy, but that she is actually his sister. You can check out the full photo with its caption below.
This is the first time I've seen the "sister" theory posited anywhere online. The source for this information hasn't been revealed, but the caption does clearly call Buller's character Jenny Olsen. Whether or not she's a replacement Jimmy remains to be seen.
But in all actuality, whether or not Jimmy Olsen exists in the "Man of Steel"-verse doesn't matter. Jimmy...

Man of Steel has been confirmed to feature Jenny Olsen.
A captioned picture from one of the Superman film's tie-in books posted by ComicBook.com shows Rebecca Buller as the character alongside Laurence Fishburne's Perry White.
Warner Bros has been rumoured to be reimagining Superman's best friend Jimmy Olsen as a woman for its reboot.
A source previously told Comic Book Movie that the character will actually be Jimmy Olsen's sister and not a gender-swapped version of the classic character.
Warner Bros is yet to comment on which rumour about the character is true.
Zack Snyder's Man of Steel - which stars Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Michael Shannon and Russell Crowe - will debut on June 14.

A while back, an IMDb listing showed that actress Rebecca Buller (Pictured left with Laurence Fishburne) was playing Jenny Olsen in the upcoming Superman film, Man Of Steel. Then it was suggested that what Warner Brothers has done is replaced the character of Jimmy Olsen, with Jenny. While this rumor was unconfirmed it has seen it's fair share of fan uproar and backlash. What I can tell you though, via my source close to the movie, is that Jenny will Not be replacing Jimmy in the movie. Jenny will be Jimmy's sister. There will even be a reference to Jimmy in the movie, although I was not told what it is.When I asked what Jenny's job in Man Of Steel would be, I was simply told "No comment." So what we can take away from this is that yes, Jenny Olsen will be in Man Of Steel, but she...

The first official snap of Amy Adams as Lois Lane in Man of Steel, released this week, might look innocuous enough to the casual viewer. But like most of the hype surrounding Zack Snyder's Superman reboot so far it seems designed to prepare us for a modern take on the mythos surrounding the world's most famous superhero. Gone is the knackered old typewriter used by previous big screen incarnations to bash out stories, perhaps with the odd typo or two for good measure: here Ms Lane is seen carrying an iPad, the journalistic weapon of choice for the on-the-go blogger who wants to be able to file copy anytime, anywhere. New Superman,Man Of Steel movie turned Jimmy Olsen into a woman named Jenny. As previously reported, a new photo recently surfaced from the upcoming "Superman: Man Of Steel" super hero/action flick, and it features a character named Jenny Olsen ,running from a huge explosion with character Perry White. This photo has tons of media outlets thinking that the film has re-imagined Jimmy Olsen into a woman. Also, IMDb has actress Rebecca Buller (left) listed as the Jenny Olsen character. However, there hasn't been an official announcement made by Warner Bros.,confirming that she is,in fact, replacing the Jimmy Olsen character, but it sure looks like she is. The movie stars: Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Michael Shannon, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Laurence Fishburne, Antje Traue, Ayelet Zurer, Christopher Meloni,Rebecca Buller, and Russell Crowe. Man Of Steel seems set to risk the ire of Superman fanboys by apparently recasting Jimmy Olsen as a female character named Jenny. IMDb lists actress Rebecca Buller as playing a character named Jenny Olsen, with nobody listed as playing Jimmy. Sounds like it’s all change at the Daily Planet. And for those suspecting an error on IMDb’s part, the above screenshot is taken from the trailer, and clearly shows Perry White fleeing the Planet with Buller in tow. Looks like their characters work together alright. While...

Some quick updates for Zack Snyder's "Man of Steel" today, starting with the news that the Superman reboot has scored a PG-13 rating from the MPAA.
The rating was granted for "intense sequences of sci-fi violence, action and destruction, and for some language."
Next up comes some casting talk. Lego versions of characters from the film have emerged at the London Toy Fair, one of which is the previously unannounced Kryptonian sleeper agent villain Tor-An.
One report indicates that "Sucker Punch" actor Richard Cetrone is playing the role.
Meanwhile one bit of talk that has already generated much discussion in the last few days is that a gender swap. Seems that actress Rebecca Buller ("The Playboy Club") has the role of Jenny Olsen, and the character is essentially serving as a replacement for long-time Daily Planet errand boy Jimmy Olsen.

"Man of Steel" is set to hit theaters on June 14th, but we're still getting a lot of new information about the movie, which the MPAA just labeled PG-13 for "intense sequences of sci-fi violence, action and destruction, and for some language." Regarding casting, it seems that the Jimmy Olsen character will not appear in the movie, despite showing up in all other Superman movies. But according to IMDb, there's a character by the name of Jenny Olsen, played by Rebecca Buller ("The Playboy Club"). While IMDb should not be trusted, it turns out that a "Man of Steel" trailer actually shows Buller running with Perry White (Laurence Fishburne) from the Daily Planet building (see screenshot below). So it seems that director Zack Snyder not only decided to make Perry White a black character, he also decided to make Jimmy Olsen a female photographer. Meanwhile, the London Toy Fair unveiled...

Considering that production on Zack Snyder's Man of Steel wrapped almost a year ago, it seems safe to assume that the casting of the film has been complete for quite some time. Recently, however, it has come to light that there is one major role that has yet to be filled in Man of Steel: that of Jimmy Olsen, the plucky young photographer for the Daily Planet. Despite appearing in every previous Superman movie, up until now we have not heard an announcement regarding who might play him in the upcoming film. So is it being kept a secret or is he simply not appearing in the film? Well, as it turns out, the answer is likely "none of the above". It seems that Zack Snyder has decided to take a few liberties with the staff of the Daily Planet, and the Jimmy Olsen character will now be a woman instead.

A lot of fans have been wondering if we will see Daily Planet photographer Jimmy Olsen in Zack Snyder's Man of Steel, and it looks like we'll see her. That's right... her. According to IMDb, Jimmy Olsen has been changed to Jenny Olsen, and Rebecca Buller is the actress playing her. There's no mention of Jimmy on IMDb, which leads us to believe that this rumor could end up being true.
The character can actually be seen in the trailer for the film (pictured above) running alongside Laurence Fishburne as Perry White. She's got a little smile on her face even though she's in the middle of complete chaos. We know that Snyder is shaking things up in the Superman universe, so I'm not really surprised by any changes like this. I don't think it's going to hurt the film even though it's pretty big change, but I'll admit.

We already know that Zack Snyder will be changing up the staff at the Daily Planet in his upcoming Superman flick Man of Steel. Lois Lane, who is typically drawn and portrayed as a brunette, will be played as a redhead by Amy Adams; and the director also cast Laurence Fishburne as Perry White, a normally Caucasian character. But has Snyder also turned Jimmy Olsen into a female character? That's the latest rumor that's spreading around thanks to Comic Book Movie, and the truth is that they make some fairly interesting arguments. As it stands, "Jimmy Olsen," a photojournalist at the Daily Planet and sorta sidekick to Superman, doesn't appear in the cast listing for Man of Steel on IMDb, however, an actress named Rebecca Buller, previously only credited for one episode of NBC's The Playboy Club, is listed as "Jenny Olsen." Because IMDb isn't very reliable when it comes...

Fans might not recognize the Jimmy Olsen character when they first see him in "Man of Steel" — or should we say "her"? It could be that the Daily Planet employee has been gender swapped to be a woman in the upcoming movie.
As Daily Mail points out, actress Rebecca Buller is listed as "Jenny Olsen" on "Man of Steel's" IMDb page. Buller can also be seen in the "Man of Steel" trailer running alongside Laurence Fishburne's Perry White as a building crumbles in the background. Judging by her lanyard and professional clothing, she very much could be a reporter at the Daily Planet.
There's no confirmation that Buller actually is playing "Jenny Olsen," but it wouldn't be much of a surprise. If it's true, the Jimmy Olsen character isn't the only one who will have been changed for "Man of Steel." Though White is a Caucasian in the "Superman" comics,...

The Interwebs is all abuzz this morning with rumors that Superman’s pal Jimmy Olsen of the Daily Planet might have gotten, er, a sex change in Zack Snyder’s upcoming Superman reboot “Man of Steel”. All of this, it seems, originates from the cast listing for “Man of Steel” on IMDb.com, as well as this shot of two characters fleeing an explosion in, we assume, Downtown Metropolis. Notice the woman on the right. According to reports, that is actress Rebecca Buller, who is listed on IMDb.com’s cast listing for the film as “Jenny Olsen”: The guy she’s running away with? That Laurence Fishburne (Morpheus from “The Matrix”), who has already been confirmed as playing the film’s new version of Perry White. So if Snyder and company have already (and needlessly, I might add) swapped race for a major character like White, it goes...

With Man Of Steel, Zack Snyder's reboot of the Superman franchise, fans are expecting some changes. We already got some, with Laurence Fishburne cast as Perry White, a character portrayed the same colour as his surname. But this could be one no one expected. Jimmy Olsen has been a mainstay of the Superman mythos since pretty much the start. Sometimes referred to as Superman's Pal, the Daily Planet photographer has been played on the big screen by Marc McClure (Richard Donner's original film), and Sam Huntington (Superman Returns). His name has been curiously absent on the run up to the release of Man Of Steel, and we may have found the reason. On the the movie's IMDb page, actress Rebecca Buller is listed as Jenny Olsen, with no mention of Jimmy what so ever. So has the character's gender been changed for the movie? The most recent...

Is Jenny the new Jimmy? Now admittedly, you can't always trust what you read on the internet, but via some amateur detection skills and circumstantial evidence, it appears that Man Of Steel may see the cub reporter and junior photographer Jimmy Olsen, replaced by a Jenny Olsen. IMDb listings for Man Of Steel see the unknown actress Rebecca Buller (below) credited as 'Jenny Olsen'.

According to IMDb, unknown actress Rebecca Buller is playing Jenny Olsen in the upcoming Superman movie, Man of Steel. IMDb is not the most reliable source in the world, but, watching the trailer, the girl running from the bursting building alongside Laurence Fishburne's Perry White looks a lot like Buller. Change can annoy some purists fans - and even those who are not as demanding - but the controversy raises an interesting debate about sexism in comic books and comic books adaptations. We're already familiar with the ethnicity changes in comic book movies, but what about the change of gender of a character? Is it too much? Could this be a reflection of modern society trying to fix past mistakes with regard to sexual segregation in old social orders? Or is it irrelevant? Leave your thoughts in the comment section.
