Clint Eastwood’s recent works, including Sully and American Sniper, offer praise to a quiet but unwavering grit that the director has come to see as distinctive to the American ideal. Alternatively, Eastwood’s recent comments offer condemnation to a generation the octogenarian social commentator has come to see as anathema to good old-fashioned American values.
Continuing his work in the milieu of American heroes who aren’t spineless candy asses, Variety reports that his next project will be an adaptation of Impossible Odds, the autobiographical account of Jessica Buchanan, a humanitarian aid worker kidnapped by Somali militants. Buchanan was held ransom for three months in 2012, until a dramatic rescue by a Navy Seal team. Warner Bros. has optioned the book, with the intention of Eastwood directing. Green Zone scribe Brian Helgeland is adapting the book, with Greg Silverman and Julia Spiro in charge of production.

In a deal believed to be in the six-figure ballpark, Warner Bros. has snapped up a new and indeed original rom-com that revolves around über-popular dating app, Tinder.
That’s according to The Hollywood Reporter, revealing that Keith Merryman and David A. Newman – best known for weaving a modern love story around Mila Kunis and Justin Timberlake’s Friends With Benefits five years ago – will chronicle the Worst Tinder Date Ever, a meet-up between two budding singletons in Los Angeles that quickly devolves into a night to forget.
Infused with action elements, it is, in essence a “date that spirals into a night of one disaster after disaster — and, of course, they fall for one another in the process.” Denise Di Novi and Alison Greenspan are the pair on board to produce, while Niija Kuykendall and Julia Spiro will oversee production on behalf of Warner Bros..

It looks like Arrow and The Flash mastermind Greg Berlanti is finally being invited into DC's film universe - but there's a catch.
While DC's television and film worlds will remain separate, Berlanti is reportedly masterminding a superhero team-up movie for Blue Beetle and Booster Gold.
The Tracking Board reports that Berlanti is being eyed to direct and Avengers' Zak Penn will write the DC shared universe's first buddy comedy.
DC's Blue Beetle is intended to be the Ted Kord version, who inherited the heroic mantle from its originator Dan Garret.
Booster Gold - who often draws comparison to Marvel's Tony Stark - is a time traveller who zooms into the past to become a hero using his superior technology.
Both characters are being eyed to eventually feature in the two-part Justice League movie, aside from their team-up movie.
Producing for Warner Bros and DC Entertainment will be Sarah Schechter and Julia Spiro.

Warner Bros. is still hard at work fleshing out the corners of their own cinematic universe, and now it looks like they're keen to get Booster Gold and Blue Beetle on the big screen together with the help of Arrow and Flash's Greg Belanti!
If you're eager to see slightly different heroes pop up on the big screen in DC's cinematic universe, then you're in luck. The Tracking Board is reporting that Greg Berlanti, the executive producer and primary force behind Arrow and The Flash, is developing a Booster Gold/Blue Beetle movie for WB. There was already a Booster Gold Easter egg hidden in Man of Steel, which led many fans to believe/hope that the hero would eventually have a role to play in the Dceu. Now it sounds like it's going to happen, though from the report, it'll be something dramatically different from the other DC films currently in the works.

Exclusive: In a pre-emptive deal worth multiple seven-figures for the package, Warner Bros has acquired the Don Pendleton anti-terrorist operative Mack Bolan novel series and will develop it as a star vehicle for Bradley Cooper to potentially play Bolan, and Todd Phillips to potentially direct him. Avatar 4 co-writer Shane Salerno – who acquired the rights to the franchise from Pendleton’s estate — will write the script and produce along with Cooper and Phillips, who earlier this year joined forces and formed a Warner Bros-based producing label. It potentially could be the first action franchise for Cooper, who bulked up to play Navy Seal Chris Kyle in American Sniper, directed by Clint Eastwood for Warner Bros. Phillips is next directing Arms And The Dudes, about hapless guys who become arms dealers.
