Born in 1949 to an Air Force family in North Carolina. Bill lost his
Dad at the early age of 5 when his father's plane crashed in Taiwan. He
grew up in North Carolina and later on in New York. That is where he
met his future wife in High School. In High School he was a member of
Drama club and performed in several stage productions to include, Skin
of Our Teeth, Our Town, and Arsenic and Old Lace. When he graduated
High School he went directly into the Army. Loving acting in school but
figuring that was the last he would ever perform for anyone. He started
in the Army as a Medic and Paratrooper. Went to Vietnam in 1969 and
served there through out 1970. He left the Army in 1971 and worked as a
Peace officer in New York state for the next 4 years. In 1975 Bill
returned to the Army as an Infantryman and served until his retirement
as a Senior Non Commissioned Officer in 1989. Working several jobs as
an Auto technician and then in Security since then. In 2009 Bill went
to Anchorage, Alaska and competed in and came in third at the World
Beard and Moustache Championships. After this he continued competing
and winning in New York City, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Georgia,
two Southeastern United States Championships, West Coast Champion in
Oregon as well as European Championships in Leogang, Austria and then
in 2011 became World Champion in Trondheim, Norway. He has served as
Judge in several contests as well. After returning from Norway he saw a
casting notice for unusual facial hair for a movie that turned out to
be "The Hunger Games". He met Tona (Tona Dahlquist Casting) and became
an extra as a Capital Citizen because of his unusual appearance. He
decided then on the first day of filming that he had to get back into
acting again. Since then Bill has appeared in several other films,
several documentaries, several episodes of IFC's Whisker Wars on TV and
appeared in the upcoming web series "The Dark One". His image as a
beard competitor also appears in several books. Without any classical
training Bill has 63 years of life experiences to call on for the roles
that he performs. Living outside of Savannah, Georgia in the small town
of Hinesville with his wife of almost 40 years.
