Exclusive: Outlier Society is developing the Amazon MGM Studios action thriller movie, T-Minus, which is being co-scripted by Fall Guy‘s Drew Pearce and Watchmen and Station Eleven scribe Nick Cuse.
Outlier Society’s Michael B. Jordan and Elizabeth Raposo will produce with Pearce who is producing via his Point of No Return Films and Isa Dick Hackett via Electric Shepherd Productions.
Pearce
The project was initially developed by Pearce’s banner Point of No Return Films. Outlier Society’s Elizabeth Raposo heard the pitch—said to be an action-thriller along the lines of “Top Gun meets Back to the Future, with a Philip K. Dick twist”—and saw the potential for it to be the perfect Outlier project: an elevated piece with major tentpole potential.
While plot details are being kept under wraps, T-Minus will be adapted from the Philip K. Dick sci-fi 1974 short story A Little Something for Us Tempunauts.

Tom Cruise is easily one of the biggest Hollywood stars of all time. Even though he has been in the industry for over four decades, he is still sought after by the best directors to star in their projects. The actor himself exerts his influence too, often to bring out the best in him, and his decisions have always paid off.
However, he does not always get his way, as Zack Snyder recently revealed. The director confessed that he wanted the Mission: Impossible actor to play a certain character in one of his films, but Cruise sought a different role.

Movie lovers will know that Zack Snyder is a very specific director. In most cases, you either love his vision of a movie or you hate it completely. There is rarely something in between. But he is also a very specific director because, at times, you can hate one version of his movie and love the other. This is because he rarely has just one version of a movie. Remember how Watchmen ultimately had three cuts? The controversial Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice had two, while Zack Snyder’s Justice League is a phenomenon in itself. Rebel Moon is also set to have a Director’s Cut (both parts), so Snyder really is a phenomenon in that aspect.
Recently, while talking to Empire, Snyder discussed one of his early flops and revealed that he would like to have another go at it, i.e., that he would like to...

The Bloody Disgusting Selects zombie period piece Exit Humanity has taken a bite out of Screambox.
Hailed as “not a movie, but a piece of cinema” by Fangoria, it features genre legends Dee Wallace (Cujo), Bill Moseley (The Devil’s Rejects), and Stephen McHattie.
The film portrays a young man’s struggle to survive in the aftermath of an undead outbreak during the American Civil War. Heavily inspired by classic films such as Jeremiah Johnson and The Outlaw Josey Wales, Exit Humanity is a poetic tale told through the journal entries of its protagonist Edward Young.
The Canadian feature blends live-action and animation to explore deeper themes of fear, hope, redemption, and evil.
Starring horror icons Bill Moseley, Dee Wallace, Stephen McHattie, and new horror hero Mark Gibson, Exit Humanity is a zombie saga that tells the tale of the ultimate battle of good vs. evil. Brian Cox provides narration.

Warning: this post will contain spoilers for Zack Snyder's "Watchmen."
Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons' 1986 comic book classic "Watchmen" takes place in the then-present but also in a parallel universe wherein Richard Nixon is still president in the '80s. "Watchmen" took its cues from the superhero comics of the late 1930s while extrapolating history forward, asking what the world would look like if such fantastical beings actually came to be at that time. Naturally, conflicts like the Vietnam War would have ended differently, technology would have advanced by leaps and bounds ... and corruption would've still run rampant. Nixon, thanks to the positive outcome of the Vietnam War, was able to stay in office by repealing term limits. By 1977, however, public opinion had turned against super-vigilantes, and their existence was banned.
Moore and Gibbons were clearly making a comment on the rampant Reagan/Thatcher conservatism that was rolling high in the U.

Zombies! Superheroes! Spartans! Rebels! For two decades, Zack Snyder has unleashed his very specific brand of gods and monsters onto our screens, always provoking strong reactions, never without impact, and often in slow-motion. Sandwiched between 2004’s Dawn Of The Dead and 2021’s Army Of The Dead were his mythic takes on the Watchmen, Batman, Superman and the Justice League, and now, with his Rebel Moon saga, he’s gone full space-opera.

Last weekend, Pedro Pascal won the fan vote to take the Male TV Star of the Year trophy at the People’s Choice Awards for his role as Joel in HBO’s The Last Of Us. Six days later, he won the vote of his peers to land the SAG Award for Male Actor In a Drama Series, his first major industry recognition.
Having lost out to Succession’s Kieran Culkin at previous awards shows this season, Pascal looked stunned when his name was called.
“This is wrong for a number of reasons,” he said onstage. “I am a little drunk. I thought I could get drunk.” (You can watch his speech above.)
Later in the press room, Pascal revealed he drank tequila and confirmed that he was “genuinely surprised” by the win, which made him tear up with his publicists backstage.

It’s hard to explain exactly what inspired this list. Maybe we just wanted to rave some more about Pixar. Maybe watching Avatar again and the new sequel Avatar: The Way of Water boggled our minds. Whatever it was, it’s done, and we can’t take it back (the delete key is broken). It is kind of strange that there are so many blue movie characters. If we wanted to do, say, Best Red Characters in Movies, it would just be five pictures of Hellboy and five pictures of Darth Maul. Travel below to see our picks for the very best blue characters in movie history!

Christopher Nolan: No superhero science-fiction film these days where I don’t see Snyder’s influence
Filmmaker Christopher Nolan said that Zack Snyder’s influence on cinema is so dominant that part of his touch can be felt in any “superhero science-fiction film coming out these days.”
Snyder is currently leading the Netflix charts with his space opera ‘Rebel Moon: Part One – A Child of Fire’. In a profile published by The Atlantic, Nolan came out to praise Snyder.
Nolan served as a producer on Snyder’s ‘Man of Steel’ (2013), which was based on a story Nolan cracked with his ‘Dark Knight’ trilogy co-writer David S. Goyer. Nolan and Snyder have remained friends ever since.
“There’s no superhero science-fiction film coming out these days where I don’t see some influence of Zack,” Nolan said.
“When you watch a Zack Snyder film, you see and feel his love for the potential of cinema. The potential of it to be fantastical, to be heightened in its reality,...

In a profile published by The Atlantic, Nolan said Snyder’s influence on cinema is so dominant that part of his touch can be felt in any “superhero science-fiction film coming out these days.” Nolan served as a producer on Snyder’s “Man of Steel” (2013), which was based on a story Nolan cracked with his “Dark Knight” trilogy co-writer David S. Goyer. Nolan and Snyder have remained friends ever since.
“There’s no superhero science-fiction film coming out these days where I don’t see some influence of Zack,” Nolan said. “When you watch a Zack Snyder film, you see and feel his love for the potential of cinema. The potential of it to be fantastical,...

Christopher Nolan is praising Zack Snyder’s “Watchmen” for pushing the boundaries of superhero films.
Snyder’s 2009 adaptation of Alan Moore’s graphic novel infamously underperformed at the box office, and starred Patrick Wilson, Malin Akerman, Jackie Earle Haley, Billy Crudup, Matthew Goode, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, and Carla Gugino.
Now, “Oppenheimer” director Nolan is calling the film over a decade later “ahead of its time,” especially when capturing a superhero ensemble that Marvel’s “Avengers” made popular years later.
“I’ve always believed ‘Watchmen’ was ahead of its time,” Nolan told The Hollywood Reporter. “The idea of a superhero team, which it so brilliantly subverts, wasn’t yet a thing in movies.”
He added, “It would have been fascinating to see it released post-‘Avengers.'”
Later in the article, Snyder addressed his other superhero team-up movie, DC’s “Justice League,” which was theatrically released with Joss Whedon’s reshoots...

The Max series Welcome to Derry, which will serve as a prequel to Warner Bros’ two-part adaptation of the classic Stephen King novel It (pick up a copy Here), went into production in Port Hope, Ontario earlier this year, aiming for a Halloween 2024 premiere. But, of course, the show’s progress has been slowed by the lengthy writers strike, which recently ended, and the ongoing actors strike. So the premiere is being pushed back a bit. Casey Bloys, Chairman and CEO, HBO and Max Content, has said that we probably won’t see Welcome to Derry until 2025.
Deadline reports that Bloys said, “We had had [Welcome To Derry] scheduled for Halloween ’24 but it will likely be pushing into ’25.“
Brad Caleb Kane (Tokyo Vice) and Jason Fuchs (Wonder Woman), who was a co-producer on It: Chapter Two, are the showrunners on Welcome to Derry. The show is being executive produced by Andy Muschietti and Barbara Muschietti,...

Fear reached new heights in Lionsgate’s Fall last year, a heart-pounding tale of survival from the producers of 47 Meters Down that was released in August 2022. We learned earlier this year that a sequel was on the way, but now it seems that Two sequels are in the works.
THR reports this morning that Capstone Studios has given the green light to not one but two sequels to Fall, with Fall director Scott Mann returning to produce the sequels.
Additionally, Mann will co-write and direct the third installment.
But first, Fall 2 is set to begin shooting in June 2024.
THR notes, “Fall 2 and Fall 3 will bring back original characters from the first film, while also leaving room for new ones to be introduced.”

Are we as a human race still holding Damon Lindelof's feet to the fire for the ending of "Lost" or some of the sillier aspects of "Prometheus"? In the year of our lord 2023? Couldn't be me! For years, the somewhat divisive writer had earned the scorn of fans for some high-profile missteps a time or two in the past, but all of that should've been water under the bridge a long, long time ago. When he guided HBO's "The Leftovers" to the finish line back in 2017, he'd successfully wrapped a bow on one of the greatest shows of all time. Incredibly enough, he then followed that up with yet another huge success by doing the impossible and actually creating a worthy successor to Alan Moore's seminal graphic novel "Watchmen," telling a vital and unabashedly political story about where those "heroes" would've logically ended up years after the conclusion of the original comic.

Osamu Tezuka's "Astro Boy" birthed manga, and in turn, anime, as we know these mediums today. Manga author Naoki Urasawa has said that the "Astro Boy" arc "The Greatest Robot on Earth" was the first comic he ever read. Enter "Pluto," Urasawa's reimagining of that story, now adapted itself into an anime mini-series distributed by Netflix.
I'm only tangentially familiar with Tezuka's original manga, essentially a sci-fi "Pinocchio." In a futuristic world where robots are commonplace, young Tobio Tenma dies in a car crash. So, his scientist father creates a robotic replicant of his son. The result is the android superhero Astro Boy. "Pluto" fills in the basics of this backstory but doesn't dwell on them, for "Atom" is just one player in a larger story.
Across the world, someone is killing both the most advanced robots and the human scientists who built or advocated for them. At the...

Exclusive: Filmmaker Cord Jefferson has, in recent years, made two life-changing decisions.
In 2008, he donated a kidney to his father.
“That was easy,” he said.
“That was one of the easiest decisions I ever made. I mean, he gave me life. I feel like the kidney’s half his,” the 41-year-old declared.
A few years later, Jefferson read novelist Percival Everett’s book Erasure.
Then he adapted it for the big screen and called it American Fiction. The project became his feature film directorial debut.
The searingly provocative movie had its world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival and has emerged as one of the best films of the year, joining the handful of movies that have so far galvanized the fall festivals at Venice, Telluride and Toronto.

In 1926, Langston Hughes wrote an essay about his disappointment in a young writer who expressed, “I want to be a poet — not a Negro poet.” Hughes used that lamentation to argue that this writer — of Black middle-class upbringing — wanted to be white. More interesting than Hughes’ pathologizing in “The Negro Artist and the Racial Mountain” was his distillation of the time-worn tension among the Black artist, his work and his audience in a country founded on white supremacist ideals.
Black artists with mainstream aspirations in the United States indeed always come up against this nightmare scenario, rife with ignorance, projection, guilt and a dissatisfying seesaw of overhype and chronic underestimation. In 1955, James Baldwin penned an essay criticizing American protest fiction, a genre that he saw as over-sentimentalizing stories about Black people for the market. Comedy, as it turns out, is quite subjective. Folks have some strong opinions about what does and does not make them laugh. Thankfully, strong opinions are exactly what we’re looking for.
The 21st century has been particularly kind to comedy on TV, so we wanted to honor that with not one but two lists of the best comedy TV shows of 2000s. Below you can find our choices for the best American shows (and a Canadian show or two popular enough with American audiences to be considered eligible). You can find our choices for the best British TV comedy shows over here.
Bear in mind that only shows that premiered in the year 2000 or later are included, which explains why some popular shows that began in the ’90s but lingered into the aughts aren’t here. Now let us know your strong comedic opinions in the comments.

Patrick Wilson is looking back at Watchmen and praising director Zack Snyder for being “ahead of the curve,” which he says ultimately led the way for films like The Avengers.

Wilson joked that he wanted to share the film with his son “to fast forward through the scene with Malin Akerman in the ship.”
“I just wanted to look at it as an older guy, as a filmmaker. I knew Zack was ahead of the curve,” he added. “It’s weird to say that audiences weren’t ready for it. But you need a movie like that. You need movies to go so dark that then Avengers can go so light. I do believe in that.”

Filming kicked off this month on the HBO Max series “Welcome to Derry,” an official prequel to the two Stephen King-based It movies from Andy Muschietti. Taking to Instagram over the weekend, Muschietti shared a first-look behind the scenes photo from the set.
The photo, which you’ll find below, shows us the office door of Derry’s Chief of Police Clint Bowers, a new member of the Bowers family we’ll be meeting in “Welcome to Derry.”
Henry Bowers was of course the leader of the Bowers Gang that tormented the Losers’ Club in Stephen King’s classic horror story, and we’ve also met Butch Bowers (Henry’s father) and Connor Bowers (Henry’s cousin) in Muschietti’s movie adaptations. Butch Bowers was a cop, so it makes sense that another family member was the Chief of Police some years prior.
But who exactly is Clint Bowers?...

We assume that Pennywise the Dancing Clown is going to show up on the HBO Max series Welcome to Derry, which will serve as a prequel to Warner Bros’ two-part adaptation of the classic Stephen King novel It (pick up a copy Here), at some point. We’re just not sure who would be playing Pennywise, as just a week ago Bill Skarsgard, who played the evil clown in those two movies, said he isn’t involved with the show. As we wait to hear the Pennywise details, The Hollywood Reporter has revealed the names of four actors who will be seen in the show: they are Taylour Paige (Zola), Jovan Adepo (Watchmen), Chris Chalk (Perry Mason), and James Remar (Dexter).
Details on the roles Paige, Adepo, Chalk, and Remar will be playing are being kept under wraps. So for all we know, Pennywise could be lurking in their midst.

HBO Max‘s It prequel series has added four new cast members, including Dexter alum James Remar and Perry Mason actor Chris Chalk. As reported by Variety, Remar and Chalk will be joined by Taylour Paige (Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom) and Jovan Adepo (Watchmen) for the upcoming series, which is currently titled Welcome to Derry. Character details are not yet known as the series is keeping things under wraps, but we do know that the show is set in the world of Stephen King‘s It universe and is based on his It novel. HBO Max is starting to populate the town of Derry, Maine.
The streamer has cast the first four actors in its It prequel series Welcome to Derry. Taylour Paige (Zola), Jovan Adepo (Watchmen), Chris Chalk (Perry Mason) and James Remar (Dexter) have all joined the project, from Warner Bros. Television and It filmmakers Andy Muschietti and Barbara Muschietti. Details on the roles they’ll play are being kept quiet for now.
HBO Max ordered Welcome to Derry straight to series in February. The show is a prequel to the two films — which are based on Stephen King’s novel — and “expands the vision” of the two films. Jason Fuchs, a co-producer of It Chapter Two, is writing the first episode (based on a story by Fuchs and the Muschiettis) and will serve as co-showrunner with Brad Caleb Kane. Andy Muschietti is set to direct several episodes, including the first.

Fear reached new heights in Lionsgate’s Fall last year, a heart-pounding tale of survival from the producers of 47 Meters Down that was released in August 2022. Deadline reports today, “Acrophobia sufferers look away now: the makers of vertigo thriller Fall are plotting a sequel after the film became an unexpected hit on Netflix internationally.”
The site’s report continues, “British producer Tea Shop Productions and director Scott Mann are discussing ideas for a second movie.”
Tea Shop’s James Harris tells the site, “We’ve got a couple of ideas we’re kicking around … We don’t want to make something that feels like a copycat or less than the first one.”
Before it arrived on Netflix in the UK and became a success for the streaming service, Fall was released in theaters last year and managed to scare up an impressive $17 million.

Amazon Studios is hoping to avoid turning to stone as they stare into the eyes of Medusa, with THR reporting that Amazon Studios is developing a film based on the Greek myth.
Nicole Kassell (“Watchmen”) is on board to direct Medusa for Amazon, described as “an action adventure project centered on the Greek mythological character.”
THR adds, “Nicole Perlman, known for her Marvel Studios work, penned the script that reimagines what audiences may know about everybody’s favorite Gorgon, who has snakes for hair and whose stare turns ordinary people into stone.”
“Plot details are being kept behind the mirror but the fantasy story sees Medusa, after running afoul of the ancient gods, setting out on an epic quest to save the world,” THR adds.
Vinson Films’ Tripp Vinson and Tara Farney (Ready or Not) are producing alongside Kassell.
