Brynn Cartelli won season 14 of “The Voice” on Tuesday by edging out Britton Buchanan in one of the closest votes in the history of the reality competition series. Buchanan, who was coached by one-time winning coach Alicia Keys, had been strongly positioned heading into Tuesday’s finale based on his performances on Monday’s final.
Two of the three songs that Buchanan performed on May 21 made the iTunes top 10, thus qualifying for the vote multiplier. He grabbed the top spot with his original single “Where You Come From.” And his cover of the Young Rascals classic “Good Lovin” took the 10th and final slot. (His duet with Keys on “Wake Me Up” by Avicii ranked 19th).
Cartelli, who was mentored by rookie coach Kelly Clarkson, also landed two of her three songs in the top 10 on iTunes. She was in third place on the sales chart with the original tune...

Summer 2017 will unfortunately be remembered for its real-life horrors, from Nazi-loving white supremacists marching in Charlottesville to the devastation of Hurricane Harvey in Texas. Americans looking to escape the barrage of bad news didn’t do it in the movie theaters, where domestic box office was at its lowest in decades. But they did flock to television — and two shows in particular.
HBO’s “Game of Thrones” and NBC’s “America’s Got Talent” aren’t new, but they are small-screen staples that experienced tremendous ratings lifts this season. Even as audiences continue to move to streaming services and other platforms, there’s still room for appointment TV, as viewers still watch linearly (or, at least, relatively fast via time-shifting) in order to stay in the pop culture conversation.

Black Veil Brides singer Andy Biersack and Juliet Simms secretly tied the knot ... for the second time. Talk about a long con -- sources tell us the singers actually got married years ago. We pulled a copy of their marriage license, and sure enough ... it says they did the deed in 2012. TMZ broke the story ... the couple wed (again) in an undercover ceremony last weekend -- which most people thought was their first go 'round.

Visionary director Baz Luhrmann takes on another monumental literary work with his new adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's classic novel "The Great Gatsby." Although critical reception has been mixed, Luhrmann's signature blend of contemporary music (Jay-z!), gorgeous visuals, and strong imagery –- not to mention the romantic chemistry between Leonardo DiCaprio's Gatsby and Carey Mulligan's Daisy –- provides a perfect way to engage teen audiences with a book nearly everyone reads before graduating from high school. Who better to tout the many reasons "Gatsby" is still relevant today than the very people who expose young minds to it year in and year out -- high school English teachers (including my own). Here are seven themes in "The Great Gatsby" that make it an ideal pick for parents and their teens, whether they've already read the book, skimmed the Spark Notes, or have yet to crack the spine.

It would have been difficult to imagine at the start of Season Three of The Voice that somehow Trevin Hunte wouldn't be the last he-diva standing, but when the time came last night for Hunte to peace out from the semi-finals, it wasn't much of a surprise. His backstory and tough road to self-confidence played well, but even with his immense pipes, he lacked a little spark. Into the final rounds go Cassadee Pope, Nicholas David and Terry McDermott, or Cass, Nick and Ter as host Carson Daly calls them.

"The Voice" Top 3 were revealed on Tuesday night. Terry McDermott and Cassadee Pope of Team Blake are moving on along with Team Cee Lo's Nicholas David.
Another member of Team Cee Lo, Trevin Hunte, was eliminated.
Cassadee and Terry kicked off the performances of the night with a duet of the Of Monsters and Men hit "Little Talks," while Trevin and Nicholas performed the last song of the night. The final two members of Team Cee Lo sang Mariah Carey's classic ballad "Hero" just before Trevin was eliminated.
Three "Voice" alumni also took the stage on Tuesday night. Former Team Cee Lo member Juliet Simms performed her single "Wild Child," looking more like Ashlee Simpson than ever and seemingly inspired by Miley Cyrus' "Can't Be Tamed" music video. Country singer RaeLynn, a former member of Team Blake, also performed her new single "Boyfriend," with her signature flower in her hair.

“Sometimes when we’re at our most vulnerable is when we truly let people in to figure out who we are as artists,” declared Carson Daly at the top of The Voice Season 3 results telecast. Naturally, the super-efficient host’s use of “we” got me wondering if I’d somehow missed an important biographical detail from his past.
Was Carson ever in one of those post-nkotb boy bands that never quite ignited the public’s imagination? (That would imply the guy gets, or has gotten, jiggy!) Does he moonlight as an acoustic troubadour, playing coffee houses up and down the California coastline?...

The first week of The Voice blind auditions has come to an end, and CeeLo continues to get overlooked by the aspiring singers. Hey, he did a heck of a job with Juliet Simms last season so I don't know what these contestants are so hesitant about.
Other than Mr. Green's failure to land team members, I took to major things away from Wednesday night's installment:

Please stop going on and on about how you were the first one to turn. "The Voice" is back for Season 3 and it really does look like three's the charm for the NBC reality singing competition. Christina Aguilera graduated from leather diapers to leather daisy dukes and with that, she's tuned down her "woo's" and irritating factor. Cee Lo upgraded from mohawks and latex to some silk. With that, he kept his creepy underage lady pick-up tricks to a minimum and his weird new show pet -- in this case, Lady, a Moluccan cockatoo -- was only exploited once. And in general, there was less catty bickering, car salesmanship and the sob stories weren't forced.
