In Season 4 of “Girls,” actress Gillian Jacobs‘ character Mimi-Rose Howard tells her boyfriend Adam Sackler (Adam Driver) that she can’t go for a run because she’s had an abortion. The revelation is matter-of-fact in a way that is rarely portrayed on television and at the same time divulges so much about the character that Jacobs, this season upped to recurring on the show, now finds herself on tongues as a possible Emmy contender for a best supporting actress in a comedy. Jacobs, who also played Britta Perry on NBC’s “Community,” talked to TheWrap about who else...

Last week on Girls, viewers and Hannah got the same surprise — Adam had a new girlfriend, played by Community's own Gillian Jacobs! As Sunday's episode revealed, Mimi-Rose Howard is everything the rest of the Girls gang is not: friendly, empathetic, and generally well-adjusted. Just in time for her Girls arc (as well as the imminent arrival of the reborn Community), we talked to Jacobs about her role on both shows, as well as The Queen of Code, the documentary she recently directed about computer pioneer Grace Hopper. The main thing I noticed about your character is Girls is that she's ... nice. Which is kind of a rare thing for a character on Girls, and very different from Britta. She’s more mature, definitely, than Britta. And more successful. And, I think carries herself with a bit more self-confidence. Britta’s strugglin’. Is it difficult to play niceness, while...

A review of tonight's "Girls" coming up just as soon as this is not one of my more convincing fake showers... One of the things I enjoy most about "Girls" is its willingness to experiment a few times per season, whether spending an episode away from Brooklyn, focusing only on Hannah, or in other ways deviating from its usual form and style. Those episodes can be divisive (in some corner of the Internet, I imagine people are still arguing about "One Man's Trash"), but they also tend to be more vivid and memorable than when "Girls" is trying to function as a more conventional TV show and juggling Hannah's story with what's happening in her friends' lives. What makes "Sit-In" (written by Paul Simms and Max Brockman, and directed by Richard Shepard) so special is that it's both things at once: a format-busting bottle show dealing with the immediate aftermath...

HBO has provided only the first five episodes of season 4 of writer-actress Lena Dunham's Girls, premiering Sunday at 9 p.m. Et – otherwise known as the time when the Golden Globes are airing on NBC – but so far the show is biting, funny, touching and surprising.
In short, it's an absolute delight, and possibly even better than the landmark first season. That's the one that ended with Elijah (Andrew Rannells) greeting Marnie (Allison Williams) with this putdown of her dress: "Hello, J-Lo from the Grammys."
Of course, Dunham, who stars as desperately ambitious Brooklyn writer Hannah Horvath, has in the...

Though HBO’s Lena Dunham-led comedy series Girls won the Golden Globe for Best Comedy Series for its first season, the show has largely faded in the eyes of critics over time. Though the show’s third season was a marked improvement over its decidedly unfunny second, Girls hasn’t been seen as an awards darling since its premiere. Perhaps that will change next season, when Dunham and company are joined by some extremely talented guest stars. We previously reported that Community alum Gillian Jacobs would appear, and now Parenthood‘s Jason Ritter has booked a guest spot as well.
Details about Ritter’s character are being kept largely under wraps, as was the way with Jacobs’ character, but we do know that his character is named Scott and will appear on the currently unnamed sixth episode of Girls‘ fourth season. Unlike Jacobs’ character, named Mimi-Rose Howard, Ritter...

Gillian Jacobs is joining Girls for season 4. It was announced that the former Community actress will have a recurring role in the popular HBO series for this season. While it is far from a regular spot, it will hopefully lead to that beyond season 4 for her. Her character’s name will be Mimi-Rose Howard and she will have her very own episode to introduce her. So far no word on how many episodes she will be on or how her character will fit in.
This is great news for Gillian, as well as for HBO. She is a gifted actress who can lend her talent to a more successful series. Perhaps it will lead to even more for her, even though I slightly doubt it. That show already has their set of regulars and I am not sure if they want to disturb the careful balance they created.

For Greendale Human Beings across the world, the pain of losing Community is still very fresh, and all of us are still holding out hope that a company like Hulu Plus or Netflix will pick it up and order the show’s long-awaited sixth season. But until that happens, at least we won’t have to go without seeing some of the cult comedy’s stars in other places. Donald Glover has a show called Atlanta in the works over at FX, Joel McHale will appear in Blended and this summer’s Deliver Us From Evil, Alison Brie is starring in a fall comedy called Search Party, and now Gillian Jacobs has lined up her next gig.

Gillian Jacobs is heading from Greendale to Brooklyn (or Iowa).
Community star Jacobs will appear on the upcoming season of Girls, EW has confirmed. TVLine, which first reported the news, says she’ll play a character named Mimi-Rose Howard and will first appear in episode 5.
Girls, which ended its third season with Hannah seemingly bound for the Iowa Writers’ Workshop, will come back to HBO in early 2015.

Community's cancellation has apparently freed up Gillian Jacobs for the cast of Girls for its fourth season. In 2015, you'll see her as Mimi-Rose Howard — in an episode appropriately called "Mimi-Rose." Just a few months ago, Jacobs and Lena Dunham's boyfriend, Bleachers' Jack Antonoff, co-starred in a short film (along with some of the cast of Parenthood and various Cool Kids) for Antonoff's sister's spring 2014 clothing line, Crush. Friends joining their friend's girlfriend's TV shows! This is how the world works.

“Community” may be over (Rip Greendale) but Gillian Jacobs sure isn’t Britta-ing her career, with TVLine reporting the actress has booked a recurring role on the upcoming fourth season of HBO’s “Girls.” There are no details about her character, but her name will be Mimi-Rose Howard and she’ll be introduced in the 5th episode of the new season, which just happens to be titled “Mimi-Rose.” Last we saw the Girls, Hannah (Lena Dunham) was off to graduate school after an apparent breakup with Adam (Adam Driver), while Marnie (Allison Williams) seemed poised to have found her calling in life – [...]

“Community” might be a thing of the past, but Gillian Jacobs has found a whole new neighborhood to hang out in. Jacobs, who played Britta Perry on the recently canceled NBC sitcom, has booked a recurring role on HBO's “Girls” for its fourth season, an individual with knowledge of the casting told TheWrap on Wednesday. Also read: Dan Harmon Responds to ‘Anxious Fans’ of Canceled ‘Community’ Additional details about the character were not immediately available, but TVLine said that Jacobs’ character will be named Mimi-Rose Howard, and will make her premiere on the fifth episode of the upcoming season,...
