‘…’Wolverine’ has remained ‘adamantium’- tough through mutantkind’s darkest times, but the fall of ‘Krakoa’ breaks him and he retreats to where the Wolverine legend began—the Canadian wilderness, in Saladin Ahmed and Martín Cóccolo’s new ‘Wolverine’ ongoing series as part of the ‘X-Men: From The Ashes’ era”:
“…there’s a killer in the woods – and as an attempt at peace is shattered, old enemies re-emerge as an ancient force awakens.
“Predating the ‘Marvel Universe’ as we know it, this primal being takes a special interest in ‘Logan’, but does it see him as a hero worthy of his legendary reputation or an affront to creation that needs to be eliminated?

Right in time for the character's 50th anniversary, the Wolverine legend will begin anew this September. Following Krakoa's tragic fall and the brutal "Sabretooth War" storyline currently unfolding in the final issues of Benjamin Percy's run, Logan will turn his back on humanity, mutantkind, and the X-Men in an all-new ongoing Wolverine series.
The series comes our way from acclaimed writer Saladin Ahmed (Daredevil) and Marvel Stormbreaker artist Martín Cóccolo (Immortal Thor). Their run begins deep in the Canadian wilderness where Wolverine reunites with his wolf pack and embraces the beast within. However, Wolverine is more than an animal - he’s a soldier. And a new war is brewing.
As Nightcrawler struggles to remind Logan that he's part of a family, Logan's exile is violently disturbed by his most hated foes, and with each battle, a new existential threat gathers strength. This ancient villain has been bubbling under...

The duel between Ben Affleck’s Batman and Henry Cavill’s Superman seems like already ages ago, and with the latter’s exit from the franchise and the rise of the newly revamped DC Universe, the duo’s on-screen rivalry may have ended for good.
Henry Cavill in Man of Steel
But, there is always hope and the possibility of achieving the said rematch in Marvel Cinematic Universe. Following Cavill’s rumored debut in Deadpool and Wolverine, and Affleck’s history as Daredevil, something can be done here.

An end-of-the-year update from author and producer George R.R. Martin confirms that some of the shakeups at Warner Bros. Discovery have had ripple effects all the way in Westeros. “All the changes at HBO Max have impacted us, certainly,” he wrote on his Not A Blog blog.
What that means in precise terms for the myriad of shows Martin has in development with the top cable network, including a Jon Snow sequel, is a little unclear. But he did confirm that he’s been hard at work on the second season of “House of the Dragon.” For other projects, well, “some of those are moving faster than others,” he wrote but added this was always the case with development.
“None have been greenlit, though we are hoping … maybe soon. A couple have been shelved, but I would not agree that they are dead. You can take something off the shelf...

Anyone can be Spider-Man. At least, that was the idea when Miles Morales first hit the scene in 2011 as the successor to the Ultimate universe’s Peter Parker. An Afro-Latino teenager taking up the mantle of Marvel’s most beloved and well-known hero, even if it was in an alternate universe, was a game-changer. The possibilities for the character, the topics that could be tackled, and the creators who could put their stamp on the character seemed endless. We’ve seen some of those possibilities reflected through the Oscar-winning animated film, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and a stellar PlayStation game, Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Anyone can be Spider-Man. But the recent blowback from the comic issue What If…Miles Morales Became Thor? begs another question: can anyone write Spider-Man?
If you’re Black, the answer to that has been a rather telling “no.

Exclusive: Saladin Ahmed (Miles Morales: Spider-Man) has partnered with filmmakers Shaka King (Judas and the Black Messiah) and Travon Free (Two Distant Strangers) to create Drac: Son of Dante—a new, 15-part webcomic series for Tapas Media and Endeavor Content, which is now free to read exclusively via the former company’s website and mobile app. The series’ first two episodes have already launched, with more to come weekly on Fridays.
Drac is said to introduce a new and contemporary mythology around the origins of the iconic goth villain Dracula that will resonate with multicultural and youth audiences alike. The narrative follows Dante, an eerie, flute-playing immortal who finds himself drawn to the human condition against the natural order and better judgment of his species. Dante follows this obsession no matter how much trouble it gets him into — but a conflict for the ages erupts when his monstrous son Drac chooses a human bride.

This is not Zeb Wells’ first time in a comic book writers’ room. It’s not even his first time breaking Spider-Man stories as part of a team. The big difference with this one is that hopefully no children get eaten on his watch.
“I deserve that,” the new Amazing Spider-Man lead writer chuckles when we compare this new team project to “Shed,” the critically acclaimed, impossibly bleak story he wrote back when Peter Parker was in the middle of his “Brand New Day” era that saw the Lizard return and promptly eat his son.
There’s a lot different this time with the new status quo unrolling in “Beyond,” starting with Spidey himself. The premise of the new run of Amazing Spider-Man has Ben Reilly becoming Spider-Man after the copyright for the character is swiped from under Peter by the Beyond Corporation.
And then there’s the creative team surrounding Wells.

Wolverine #8 Writer: Benjamin Percy | Artists: Adam Kubert & Viktor Bogdanovic | Colourists: Antonio Fabela & Matthew Wilson | Letters: Cory Petit
I actually really enjoyed this issue despite it not delivering on the cover image. As a sidenote, the cover must be the first time Adam Kubert has drawn Maverick since the 90’s and he looks amazing! The mask doesn’t look a joke no more as he steals all the limelight from the titular star. The pace and tone of the story made for a nice change after all the fanfare of X of Swords. This is the 350th issue of all incarnations of Wolverine as an ongoing series. Apart from being a double sized issue it doesn’t really mark the fact. The issue is split into two stories with the first being called a prologue. It is a ten page prologue but really it just works as an extended opening to the second story.

When it comes to over-sized special edition comics, DC seemingly can’t wait to whip up a steady stream of one after another. That’s not a complaint, mind you, just an observation. These 80 Page Giants must be good-sellers for DC, and although nearly 10 dollars a go, they are good value for the reader. You get to see a whole load of creators jamming together on more characters than you can shake a stick at, and the odds are that you will enjoy the majority of the stories, if not all. DC do enjoy their themed specials as well, and I must admit to being a sucker for things like Halloween and Christmas specials down the years, and I’m no different now. This Special gives us 10 short and hopefully sweet peeks into the more mysterious corners of the DC Universe,...

An election sabotaged by mysterious unseen forces leads one journalist to dangerous places in her attempt to make things right. “Exiles is my take on a classic Marvel ‘misfit’ team book, powered by the endless possibilities of alternate timeline craziness. Sort of What If? meets classic X-men, with a bit of Quantum Leap tossed in for good measure,” said Ahmed. “It’s a dream of a book to be working on for a Marvel fanboy such as myself, full of deep-cut guest stars and mind-blowing easter eggs. Our latest deep-dive into recent books on cinema is heavy on 2017 follow-ups. But there’s also a unique look at late Godard, a romp through holiday horror, and a visually inventive stroll through 101 memorable movies. Let’s march on, starting with every cinephile’s buddy, Guillermo del Toro.
Guillermo del Toro’s The Shape of Water: Creating a Fairy Tale for Troubled Times by Gina McIntyre (Insight Editions)
Guillermo del Toro’s fairy tale romance The Shape of Water was heralded by some as one of 2017’s finest (I’m in that camp) or as 2017’s The Artist (boo). Wherever one stands in this debate, its aesthetic beauty is undeniable. In other words, Shape is more than deserving of the Insight Editions treatment. The book is a gorgeous concoction, filled with del Toro’s endearing sketches, effects tests, film stills, and, best of all, accompanying text that is smart and...

I've got some cool news for all of you Agent Carter fans! Marvel Comics is launching a new comic book series called Exiles, and in it, Agent Carter suits up as Captain America! The comic art above by Dave Marquez offers us our first look at the character and she's looking pretty badass all decked out in her Captain America gear.
I always thought it would be cool to see Agent Carter as Captain America in the comics and now it's actually happening. She will be introduced in the third issue of the Exiles series. This is the first time that Peggy has held the mantle of Captain America in the comics, but she did appear as Captain America in a game called Puzzle Quest.

One of the most beautiful things the comic book world has ever given us is that of the storytelling possibilities yielded by alternate realities. To the delight of countless readers, both DC and Marvel have wowed us in the past with radically different takes on their heroes and villains with Elseworlds and What Ifs.
Actually, DC has somewhat kept this tradition alive in recent memory via the evil Batmen seen in Dark Nights: Metal and its orbiting one-shots, and with the two Harley Quinns running around in Batman: White Knight. That said, it’s great to see Marvel keeping up with Exiles.
Now, what makes this particular book especially cool is that it’s actually uniting characters from various universes! In the latest iteration of the series coming to us by way of writer Saladin Ahmed and artist Javier Rodriguez, we’re able to enjoy different takes on the likes of Kamala Kahn and Blink,...

A fan-favorite teleporting X-Man will make her return to the multiverse in 2018, along with a brand-new team as writer Saladin Ahmed (Black Bolt) takes his talent for fresh storytelling to an old but beloved tale, Exiles, joined by the art team of Javier Rodriguez (Spider-Woman), Alvaro Lopez, and Jordie Bellaire and Joe Caramagna.
The man once known as Nick Fury is now simply the Unseen, who can only observe Earth from the moon. When a mysterious threat casts its shadow on the multiverse, his job is to recruit champions who can save it. Blink’s goal was once to save the world with the original Exiles, and now, she’ll need the help of Khan, Iron Lad, Wolvie and a mysterious to-be-revealed team member to help her fight an even more sinister evil.
