It’s been almost exactly 35 years since the Indigo Girls first broke out with their eponymous second album, yet the Power of Two continues to thrive still, especially on the screen. “Barbie” recently pointed us “in a crooked line” with Margot Robbie’s rendition of “Closer to Fine”, while last year’s Sundance doc, titled “It’s Only Life After All“, brought us up close and personal with the duo themselves.
Following those movie tributes now comes another, in the form of “Glitter & Doom,” a jukebox musical that celebrates the enduring legacy that Amy Ray and Emily Saliers have crafted through their raw, passionate, and deeply personal brand of queer folk rock. But does the movie live up to their legendary talents or is it doomed to go the way of a film like “Yesterday“?

The official synopsis for the film reads: “‘Glitter and Doom’ follows the love at first sight journey of a circus dreamer (Alex Diaz) and struggling musician (Alan Cammish). An undeniable spark sets an epic summer romance on its course until the realities of pursuing their dreams threaten to tear them apart.”

Music Box Films has acquired Tom Gustafson and Cory Krueckeberg’s “Glitter & Doom.” The film is billed as a “fantastical queer romance” and the musical comes with songs from the Grammy Award-winning Indigo Girls. “Glitter & Doom” premiered as the closing night film at InsideOut Toronto. It went on to play gala slots at more than 50 LGBTQ+ festivals around the world. Music Box is planning a March 8, 2024, theatrical release in NYC and L.A. That will be followed by a nationwide theatrical rollout and a VOD release.
The film comes at a time when Indigo Girls have been enjoying a popular resurgence. Their anthem “Closer to Fine” was featured at a key moment in last summer’s “Barbie” and a new documentary about their lives and careers, “Indigo Girls: It’s Only Life After All,” premiered at Sundance and will be released theatrically by Oscilloscope Laboratories.

Girl Named Tom has already made “The Voice” history after becoming the first trio to reach a finale in 21 seasons of NBC’s reality TV singing competition. The group of siblings on Team Kelly Clarkson comprised of Bekah, Caleb and Joshua Liechty currently resides in South Bend, Indiana. A win on Tuesday’s live finale would make them the first non-solo act to ever claim victory on “The Voice.”
Standing in their path to victory are three powerhouse vocalists and one of their own teammates. Team Blake Shelton has two shots at winning their coach his ninth title with genre-crossing diva Wendy Moten and R&b soul singer Paris Winningham. Team John Legend is represented by gospel artist Jershika Maple while Team Kelly’s teen pop singer Hailey Mia joins Girl Named Tom in the live finale. Ariana Grande failed to coach any artist to the finale in her rookie season.

Brynn Cartelli won season 14 of “The Voice” on Tuesday by edging out Britton Buchanan in one of the closest votes in the history of the reality competition series. Buchanan, who was coached by one-time winning coach Alicia Keys, had been strongly positioned heading into Tuesday’s finale based on his performances on Monday’s final.
Two of the three songs that Buchanan performed on May 21 made the iTunes top 10, thus qualifying for the vote multiplier. He grabbed the top spot with his original single “Where You Come From.” And his cover of the Young Rascals classic “Good Lovin” took the 10th and final slot. (His duet with Keys on “Wake Me Up” by Avicii ranked 19th).
Cartelli, who was mentored by rookie coach Kelly Clarkson, also landed two of her three songs in the top 10 on iTunes. She was in third place on the sales chart with the original tune...

Taylor Swift will appear on the seventh season of The Voice as an adviser (and to remind everyone that she has an album out). NBC is undoubtedly hoping to use her star power as a way to boost the show's flagging ratings: Viewership of the singing competition's last finale was down 25 percent from the prior cycle. Like Coldplay's Chris Martin on the last cycle, Swift will be doling out advice to all of the performers. She'll join judge-specific guest advisers including Stevie Nicks for Adam Levine, Alicia Keys for Pharrell, Little Big Town for Blake Shelton, and Gavin Rossdale, who will be helping out his wife Gwen Stefani. This isn't the first time T. Swizzle has appeared on the show; she made a surprise appearance for Usher's singer Michelle Chamuel when she was rehearsing Swift's song "Trouble." Chairs will spin on September 22.

It's week two of Season 6 of "The Voice" and the blind auditions continue along. Those teams aren't going to fill themselves, after all. So who did coaches Shakira, Usher, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton turn around for on Monday (March 3)? Not too many, it felt like. Without further ado, let's get to it.
First up is Ryan Whyte Maloney, a trash collector and father of two from Las Vegas whose ex-wife took his kids and moved them to Florida, which is one of the sadder stories I've heard in a while. He takes the stage with Journey's "Lights" and he sounds really great. He gets a four-chair turn, easily.
"We're a match made in Heaven and I think we should be together," Shakira tells him. Ryan's response: "I'm gonna keep that in my memory forever." In the end, though, he makes his choice with his kids in mind: "I have...

The Voice debuted its sixth season on Monday night, where eight hopefuls did enough on the stage to take their pick of one of the judges – Blake Shelton, Usher, Shakira and Adam Levine.
‘The Voice’ Recap
Bria Kelly’s performance of James Taylor’s "Steamroller Blues," not only got all of the judges to turn around, but had them all up on their feet to give the raspy-voiced teenager a standing ovation – along with the cheering audience. Although her singing style may have indicated she’d pick either Team Blake or Team Adam, Kelly chose Usher, who was the last to turn around. The R&B singer has proven himself to be an innovative and thoughtful mentor, with his coaching of Michelle Chamuel.
YouTube star Christina Grimmie took on Miley Cyrus hit “Wrecking Ball,” and also had the four judges vying for her to join their team. In the end,...
