For Missy Franklin, the Rio Olympics ended as they started - in tears. The golden girl who won five medals at the 2012 Olympics finished 14th in the semi-final of her signature event, the 200-meter backstroke, on Thursday - failing the qualify for Friday's final. Franklin's time of 2:09.74 is nearly six seconds behind the world record she set in the event at the 2012 Games. When asked what she learned from her incredibly difficult week in Rio, Franklin replied: "I'll let you know in a couple weeks, maybe a couple months. Right now, it sucks," according to the Denver Post. Franklin...

While the crowd at the Rio Olympics Aquatics Stadium is usually filled with cheers and applause, boos rang out when Russian swimmer Yulia Efimova entered the arena on Sunday for her preliminary heat of the 100-meter breaststroke. Efimova, a 24-year-old first-time Olympian, was among the 118 Russian athletes barred from the 2016 Games due to a state-sponsored doping program at the 2014 Sochi Olympics, but she was quietly reinstated and allowed to compete. Congratulations! Malala Yousafzai, Kendall Jenner, Kylie Jenner, and Justin Bieber all landed on the prestigious list — and completely deserve it! They’ve had extremely successful careers, especially this year, and definitely deserve the honor. Read the full list below.
Justin Bieber Lands On ‘Time’ Magazine’s ‘Most Influential Teens’ List
The list by Time magazine includes 16 teens, ranging from as young as 14 to as old as 19. Did your favorite young star make the cut?
Take Our Poll
1. Singer Lorde tops the list. With a hit song, “Royals,” she’s actually been criticized for dissing tons of huge artists — from Selena Gomez to Taylor Swift. However, it doesn’t discount the fact that at 17, the New Zealander beauty has an incredible voice.

From the painted talons of music maven Rihanna to sporting star Rebecca Adlington − nails are now big business
The meaning of the manicure has been transformed in the last few years. Until recently, painted nails were a symbol of classic, grown-up elegance. Traditional shades with timeless names – pillarbox red, or ballet-slipper pink – dominated the market. But the boom in nail art and the trend for eyebrow-raising colours – like steel grey, neon tangerine and moss green – have turned the rules upside down. Nails have never been so high profile in fashion and in popular culture and a new generation of young women are using nail polish to express their individuality, their fashion savvy, creativity and even their humour.

Missy Franklin is college-bound. The 18-year-old became the first Us female swimmer to win six gold medals at the World Championships in Barcelona on Aug. 4, but she's already focused on starting her life as a student at the University of California, Berkeley. "Honestly just being home is enough of a celebration for me," the four-time Olympic gold medalist, who will go straight from hosting the Us Open Arthur Ashe Kids' Day to move into her dorm room, told People on Tuesday. While such a busy schedule could be overwhelming for some, Franklin takes it all in stride, with the help of her trademark upbeat attitude.

The 2012 London Olympics were nothing short of smashing (and wouldn’t NBC love some of those ratings today?). Now comes the official documentary of the games, First, an insider look at several rookie Olympians who bypassed car surfing and beer pong to focus on their golden dreams. The film focuses on young athletes in sports ranging from running to swimming, gymnastics to diving, cycling to BMX, boxing to judo and covering Olympians from the U.S. — including teenage four-time gold medalist Missy Franklin — China, Kenya, Ireland, South Africa and elsewhere. The doc from writer-director-producer Caroline Rowland will hit theaters May 30, followed by a July 27 airing on NBC.

When crazy Spencer vanishes into thin air, the girls become ‘frantic.’ Let’s just hope she doesn’t go to ‘visit’ Alison!
Anyone up for a game of Hide-and-Seek? Just a few weeks after her half-brother Jason (Drew Van Acker) disappeared on the Feb. 12 episode of Pretty Little Liars, Spencer (Troian Bellisario) is about to go missing herself! According to ABC Family’s official description of the March 5 episode, Spencer is M.I.A., and “even her family doesn’t know where [she] has gone to.”
But the question is: Did “A” cause Spencer to vanish, or did she choose to go off the grid herself? That’s what Aria (Lucy Hale) and the girls ask themselves as they “frantically search for answers, hoping their worst fears aren’t true.”
The description doesn’t reveal Spencer’s location for obvious reasons, but considering she’s been on a downward spiral for weeks,...

NBC has been taking heat for its time-delayed Olympic coverage (there’s even a parody Twitter). But never did viewers think that in addition to avoiding the Internet, they would need to avoid NBC’s own coverage of the games.
Last night, minutes before airing Missy Franklin’s time-delayed victory in the 100-meter backstroke, NBC ran a promo for Tuesday morning’s Today show that announced, “When you’re 17 years old and win your first gold medal, there’s nobody you’d rather share it with,” and showed footage of Franklin standing on the medal stand with her gold medal,...
