Wellington, Aug 28 (Ians) Jimmy Neesham will no longer join the Black Caps T20 squad to face England following the conclusion of The Hundred and will instead return to New Zealand early to be with his wife ahead of the birth of their first child.
Neesham was due to head to home after the series but a decision has been made for him to return early.
Canterbury’s Cole McConchie was due to travel home following the warm-up matches in England but will now stay on with the squad in England for the duration of the T20 Series.

“We fully support Jimmy’s decision to return home early to be with Alex.”
“The birth of a child is a special time and we are a family environment. We are glad to be able to support Jimmy in heading home.

Auckland, July 19 (Ians) Uncapped players batting all-rounder Dean Foxcroft and leg-spinner Adi Ashok on Wednesday earned their maiden New Zealand call-ups while pace all-rounder Kyle Jamieson made his comeback to the side for next month’s T20 tours of the UAE and England.
New Zealand are scheduled to play three T20Is against the UAE on August 17, 19 and 20, followed by four games in England from August 30 to September 5.
Jamieson is set to return to international cricket more than a year after sustaining a serious back injury in England last June. On the other hand, Foxcroft and Ashok earned their call-ups off the back of representing New Zealand A and impressive domestic form in the recent season.
Foxcroft, born in South Africa, moved to New Zealand in 2016 and is a newly qualified player for the side, having recently received eligibility approval from the Icc under its “exceptional circumstances” criteria.

Milne’s elevation to the list comes off the back of his most productive international season, in which he appeared 16 times for the Black Caps (11 T20Is and five ODIs) claiming 24 wickets at an average of 24, including a career-best 5-26 in the second T20I against Sri Lanka, the third best T20I figures by a New Zealander.
The 31-year-old, who made his international debut in 2010, was part of the Black Caps’ past two Icc T20 World Cup campaigns.
Coach Gary Stead said Milne’s offer of a central contract was well-deserved and reflected his strong and ongoing commitment to play international cricket for New Zealand, the New Zealand Cricket said in a report on its website on Thursday.

New Delhi, May 10 (Ians) Pakistan’s left-handed opener Imam-ul-Haq and New Zealand’s right-arm fast bowler Matt Henry on Wednesday have moved up in the Icc Men’s Odi Player Rankings after putting in notable performances in the recently-concluded five-match series which the hosts’ won 4-1.
Ul-Haq has advanced one slot to fourth position in the batters’ rankings after playing a match-winning knock of 90 in the third Odi. He is still some way away from his career-best ranking of second position, which he achieved in June last year.
The left-hander’s rise is good news for Pakistan as they now have three batters in the top four, with skipper Babar Azam number one in the list and fellow left-handed opener Fakhar Zaman at third place, with South Africa’s Rassie van der Dussen sandwiched in between the Pakistan trio at second place.

Karachi, May 4 (Ians) Debutant allrounder Cole McConchie made a bold unbeaten 64 and Tom Blundell (65) top-scored but their efforts went in vain as a series of errors consigned New Zealand to a 26-run defeat in the third Odi, giving hosts Pakistan an unbeatable 3-0 lead in the five-match Odi series.
Chasing Pakistan’s 287/6. build on superb fifties by opener Imam-ul-Haq (90) and skipper Babar Azam (54) at the National Stadium here, the Black Caps were dismissed for 261 in the last over and suffered their third successive defeat in the series.
After skipper Tom Latham won the toss and elected to field first, Tom Blundell, in his first appearance of the series, top-scored but was one of two unnecessary run-out victims as the tourists made a mess of their run chase.
The opener/wicketkeeper cruised to 65 from 78 balls before taking on the arm of Mohammad Wasim when attempting a second run and falling short.

For Sri Lanka, Pathum Nissanka (57 off 64), Dasun Shanaka (31 off 36) and Chamika Karunaratne (24 off 42) were the only batters to show any form of resistance. The visitors were bowled out for 157 in 41.3 overs, with their bowlers now facing a herculean task of getting their side over the line.

New Delhi, March 27 (Ians) Australia batter Cameron Bancroft will be joining Somerset for the first four matches of the upcoming County Championship season in England, said the club in a statement on Monday.

Auckland, March 26 (Ians) Left-handed wicketkeeper-batter Tom Latham will return to T20I action for the first time since 2021 to lead New Zealand in their upcoming series against Sri Lanka at home and then facing Pakistan in away conditions.

Wellington, March 20 (Ians) New Zealand registered an innings and 58-run victory over Sri Lanka in the second and final Test to sweep the series 2-0 as the tourists’ resistance finally broke late on day four, here on Monday.
Having been asked to follow-on, Sri Lanka needed 416 runs to make the hosts bat again but were bowled out for 358 in their second innings.
The win seemed beyond Sri Lanka when they resumed on 2-113 in the morning session but there was some hope they might bat out the day and even save the match with the help of heavy rain forecast on day five.
Four batters scored half-centuries and No.6 Dhananjaya de Silva ploughed on to the cusp of a century by tea. However, a wicket before and after the tea break, including De Silva’s dismissal for 98 put the game back in New Zealand’s hands as Sri Lanka fell to 318 for seven.

Christchurch (New Zealand), March 11 (Ians) Daryl Mitchell struck his fifth Test century while Matt Henry made a career-best 72 helping New Zealand fight back on Day 3 of the first Test against Sri Lanka at Hagley Oval here on Saturday.
Mitchell scored a superb 102 off 193 deliveries hitting six fours and two sixes and with Henry blazing to a quick-fire half-century as New Zealand clawed their way back into the match.
The Test was delicately poised as Blair Tickner then claimed 3-28 in a superb burst of pace bowling as Sri Lanka slumped to 83/3 in 38 overs in their second innings at the close of play on the third day. They had a slight lead of 65 runs with seven-second innings wickets in hand. Angelo Mathews was batting on 20 along with Prabath Jayasuriya (2 not out) at stumps.
But New Zealand’s spirits were dampened by a leg injury to pacer Neil Wagner late on day three.

Wellington, Feb 24 (Ians) A magnificent 184 not out from the Harry Brook put England in control on day one of the second and final Test against New Zealand, here on Friday.

Karachi, Jan 8 (Ians) New Zealand have called up pace-bowling all-rounder Doug Bracewell to replace the injured Matt Henry in their Odi squads for the upcoming 50-overs series against Pakistan and India.
Henry was ruled out of the tour with an abdominal strain, which he sustained on the final day of the second Test in Karachi, with the injury requiring two to four weeks of rest and rehabilitation.
Bracewell, who has 68 international caps to his name, most recently featured in the home Odi series against the Netherlands last April, the New Zealand Cricket informed in a media release on Sunday.
The 32-year-old has been in good form with bat and ball on the domestic scene for the Central Stags, starting the season as one of the leading wicket-takers in the Plunket Shield and more recently showed his ability with the bat, making key contributions for the Stags in the Super Smash.

Karachi, Jan 6 (Ians) Continuing the golden run since his comeback, Sarfaraz Ahmed hit a brilliant century to help Pakistan eke out a draw against New Zealand in the thrilling second and final Test, with the series ending 0-0, here on Friday.
Pakistan were 304-9 and needed just 15 runs to win the second Test when the play was called off due to bad light. For the second time in their Test history, Pakistan drew a Test match with just one wicket remaining.
However, Pakistan have now gone eight home Tests with no wins with the latest result. Their last victory on home soil came against South Africa in Rawalpindi in February 2021.
With light fading in Karachi on day five, all four results were still on the cards and Sarfaraz made his first Test century (118) in nine years to keep Pakistan in the hunt after New Zealand had them at 0/2 at stumps on day four.

Auckland, Dec 14 (Ians) Back in the fray in the Indian Premier League (Ipl) auction after a year’s gap, New Zealand pacer Kyle Jamieson is looking forward to being picked up in the upcoming auctions for the 2023 edition and hoping to ride on a great performance in India to make it back to the national team for the busy season next year.

Christchurch, Nov 30 (Ians) Finn Allen and Devon Conway had a 97-run opening stand to get New Zealand’s chase of 220 against India start on a bright note. Pacer Umran Malik broke it by taking out Allen, but rain forced the third and final Odi between India and New Zealand at Hagley Oval on Wednesday to be called off.
When rain arrived, New Zealand were at 104/1 in 18 overs and Dls calculations showed that they were ahead by 50 runs. But to constitute a full match, 20 overs were needed to be completed in the second innings. But with rain washing out the prospect of playing out the remaining two overs for a result, New Zealand clinched the series 1-0 ahead.

Christchurch, Aug 24 (Ians) New Zealand on Wednesday announced a 15-member squad for the three-match Odi series against Australia starting September 6 in Cairns, with fast bowler Matt Henry making a comeback after recovering from his rib injury.
Henry’s inclusion is the only change from the squad, who claimed New Zealand’s first one-day series win in the West Indies earlier this week, with spinner Ish Sodhi making way. With Sodhi missing out on selection, Mitchell Santner and Michael Bracewell will play the role of spin-bowling all-rounders in the squad.
Kane Williamson, resuming the captaincy after missing the final two games against West Indies in Barbados, said the squad couldn’t wait to head across the Tasman.
“It’s a great rivalry we have with Australia; it’s always a huge occasion for the fans, and the team really look forward to it,” said Williamson.

Bridgetown (Barbados), Aug 14 (Ians) Experienced New Zealand pace bowler Matt Henry has been ruled out of the three-match One-day International series against the West Indies due to a rib injury, dealing a huge blow to the tourists who are currently involved in a T20I series in the Caribbean.
Henry, a veteran of 60 ODIs, experienced pain in his left side during training last week and the affected area failed to improve following treatment, according to Icc.
The 30-year-old pacer will now fly back to New Zealand in the hope that he recovers in time for the Chappell-Hadlee Trophy Odi series against Australia in September.
Henry’s departure will see inexperienced quick Ben Sears board the flight to the Caribbean as replacement, with the 24-year-old in line for his international Odi debut during the three-match series that commences this week.

Southampton, June 15 (Ians) Opener Devon Conway, who scored a double century on debut this month, left-arm spinner Ajaz Patel as well as injured duo Kane Williamson and Bj Watling, have been included in 15-member New Zealand squad for the World Test Championship final against India to be played at Hampshire Bowl from Friday.
Doug Bracewell, Jacob Duffy, Daryl Mitchell, Rachin Ravindra and Mitchell Santner have been left out after the squad that played the two-Test series against England was whittled down.
"There has had to be some tough calls with Mitchell [Santner] and Daryl [Mitchell] victims of the fierce competition we currently have for places in the Test side," said New Zealand head coach Gary Stead.
"We have gone with Ajaz as our specialist spinner after an impressive outing at Edgbaston [where he took four wickets] and we believe he could be a factor at the Ageas Bowl (Hampshire Bowl)."

Southampton, June 14 (Ians) New Zealand opener Tom Latham has said that captain Kane Williamson and wicketkeeper-batsman Bj Watling are recovering well and is confident the duo will be available for the World Test Championship (Wtc) final against India from June 18 at the Hampshire Bowl.
"They are recovering reasonably well. It was important for them to get a bit of rest and be fully fit heading into the next week, so I am sure they will go through the fitness testing protocol over the next day or two in order for them to be ready to go for the next week. Fingers crossed. We will have a fully fit squad," said Latham, who stood in place of Williamson in the second Test against England at Birmingham which the Kiwis won.

Birmingham, June 13 (Ians) New Zealand left-arm fast bowler Trent Boult feels that his team is spoilt for choice in the pace department ahead of the World Test Championship (Wtc) final against the Virat Kohli-led India at Southampton from June 18.
"Healthy competition," said Boult, who has so far taken five wickets in both innings of the second Test against England currently underway in Birmingham.
"The boys are very excited about the prospect, but they've put in a lot of hard yards not just over the last couple of weeks but over a couple of years of a Test Championship cycle. Some hard calls will have to be made but the big picture is the collective goal of lifting the world title," Boult told ESPNcricinfo.com.
New Zealand bowlers have excelled in England conditions, with Tim Southee taking 6 for 43 in the first innings at Lord's, and Kyle Jamieson and Neil Wagner...

Birmingham, June 12 (Ians) New Zealand are set to wrap up the second and final Test against England, and with it the series, after their bowlers triggered a collapse in the second innings on the third day on Saturday. At stumps, England were 122 for nine wickets, just 37 runs ahead, and one wicket left.
With two full days to go in the match, New Zealand, who made six changes in the XI for this match, have all the time in the world to complete the formalities in the first session of the fourth and penultimate day on Sunday at Edgbaston.
So far, the highest score of England's second innings has been Mark Wood's 38-ball 29 while Ollie Pope is second with a 20-ball 23 (3x4s). At stumps, Olly Stone was batting on 15 off 53 balls (2x4s), showing the more established batsmen of his team how to bat in such conditions, while James...
