One major problem that plagued most Arrowverse shows was CW’s inability to end them at the right time. While most of them started on a high note, especially Grant Gustin’s The Flash, which was the biggest superhero show on TV upon its release, the writers couldn’t carry the momentum in the later seasons. But things could have been very different for the CW show that started it all, Arrow.
Had CW stuck to the original plans for the show, Arrow could’ve ended on a really high note, as instead of going on for 8 seasons, season 5 was originally intended to be the show’s end.

When most people think of actor Josh Segarra, they likely think of the lovable himbos he’s become known for. From Lance in The Other Two to Pug in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law to Manny in Abbott Elementary, and even Danny in Scream VI, Segarra’s recent roles may not all be the sharpest tools in the shed, but there’s no denying that they’re all kind and loyal at their core. But before Segarra became known for playing these appealing dudes, he took a turn as Arrow’s scariest villain.
Adrian Chase a.k.a. Prometheus certainly wasn’t the first man to seek revenge on Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) for things he did in the past, nor was he the first to push Oliver to his physical limits. But for all of the other formidable villains that came before – Deathstroke,...

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for The Flash Season 8 Episode 18 “The Man in the Yellow Tie.”] While Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) dealt with a speedster problem back in Central City, he wasn’t the only one to visit the Eobard Thawne (Tom Cavanagh) still locked up on Lian Yu in the latest episode of The Flash. Also dropping by: John Diggle (David Ramsey)! Diggle sought answers about that cube that fell in front of him in the Arrow series finale and has been plaguing him since. “When this thing is away from me, I can still feel it in my mind, pulling me closer,” he explained. “The more I fight it, the louder I hear its call, but I have to know what it is. I have to know what these damn voices want from me.” Thawne recognized the transmatter tech and agreed to help if he could see what was inside. But after he coached...

Another speedster has raced onto The Flash: Kausar Mohammed (4400), who this Tuesday night debuted as Dr. Meena Dhawan, is set to recur on the CW series, our sister site Deadline reports.
Mohammed made her debut at the tail end of this week’s episode, in which the mysterious new Central City speedster Barry was investigating turned out to be Dr. Dhawan, a “genius” scientist whom he instantly recognized after The Flash cornered her and led her to unmask herself. Two classics — Eobard Thawne and Lian Yu — are back, baby, in TVLine’s exclusive sneak peek from this Wednesday’s episode of The Flash (airing 8/7c on The CW).
In Season 8’s Episode 17 of 20, which was directed by cast member Danielle Panabaker, The Flash (played by Grant Gustin) goes “off the grid” to look for answers about a new meta in town. Specifically, he heads to good ol’ Lian Yu of Arrow/Oliver Queen fame, where Argus has a holding cell for the worst of the worst — a powered-down Eobard Thawne (played again by series alum Tom Cavanagh) now included.

One last time to save the city.
The beloved Green Arrow series came to an end on Arrow Season 8 Episode 10. and, boy, was it a doozy. And I mean that in the best possible way.
There were multiple heartwarming moments, tears shed, flashbacks, an incredible fight scene, and all of the things that have defined Arrow over the years. It was the perfect ending and an oustanding tribute to Oliver Queen.
It would not be an episode of Arrow if there were at least one enemy to defeat, and that was John Byrne.
As an individual character, he did not really matter as he is not from the comics. It was more about what he stood for, which could not have been more thoughtful for the finale.
John Byrne was one of the first people on Oliver's dad's list that Oliver chose not to kill.

Last night, Arrow reached its second-to-last ever episode. But with Oliver Queen already having died in “Crisis on Infinite Earths,” it focused on his daughter, Mia Queen (Katherine McNamara), and the start of her partnership with the Black Canaries Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy) and Dinah Drake (Juliana Harkavy). In short, it was a backdoor pilot for potential spinoff Green Arrow and the Canaries. We’ve yet to get the announcement that the sequel show is going ahead, but the shocking cliffhanger ending certainly set things up to be explored in a full series.
The episode began by focusing on the utopian future of Star City 2040, which is now in a much better state thanks to the post-“Crisis” reality reboot. However, some old problems started to resurface across the hour. First, a young woman named Bianca Bertinelli went missing, leading to Mia, Laurel and Dinah to suit up again to investigate.

The Legends are back, and things got weird. But is anyone really surprised?
The Arrowverse show was as quirky and clever as ever, and a welcome light in the midst of the heavier superhero shows. But, given the events of Crisis on Infinite Earths, some aspects were sure to be sad as Sara was grieving Oliver.
DC's Legends of Tomorrow Season 5 Episode 1 managed to find the perfect balance between humor and sorrow and was a promising start to the new season.
After the events of Heyworld on DC's Legends of Tomorrow Season 4 Episode 16, the Legends were burdened with stardom as the world came to know of their time traveling adventures.
And, as a result, a documentary film crew started following them around. Which of course meant that the entirety of the episode was filmed in the mockumentary style -- a pretty fitting way for DC's Legends of Tomorrow Season 5 to start.

“Crisis On Infinite Earths” returns for its two-part epic finale tomorrow, and a new TV spot has now teased the destiny of Oliver to take on the mantle of the Spectre, clarifying the “something else” that Arrow episode voiceovers in the run up to the commencement of “Crisis” have teased he needs to become.
One of the most powerful beings in the DC multiverse, the Spectre is a nigh-omnipotent cosmic entity bound to a human host and tasked with visiting vengeance upon those who perpetrate evil – typically murderers – and has battled the likes of Darkseid, Parallax and Ares. The shot of a green cloak dropping to the ground references the spirit’s comics costume that typically sees the character in a green cowl, although the appearance of Oliver on a poster wearing it has divided fans over its suitability.

Arrow season 8 started in a way that was both familiar and unfamiliar for longtime fans. Though the opening was a near-perfect recreation of the first scene of the pilot, there was one very noticeable difference – instead of Deathstroke’s mask displayed on a pike with an arrow through the eye, it was Batman’s cowl. Not only did this tell us we were on another Earth – Earth-2, to be exact – but it’s also the first time the iconic mask has been seen on the series.
While speaking to TV Line, showrunner Beth Schwartz explained that it’s all down to Batwoman, which just debuted the other week, that Arrow can now get away with on-the-nose visual references to the Bat-mythos that it’s never been able to do before. In fact, her words suggest that there will be many more to come this season in the Arrowverse.

Arrow season 8 is the show’s last run and, if this new clip from its premiere episode tells us anything, it’s going to go heavy on the nostalgia and isn’t afraid to give the fans what they want.
This minute-long slice of footage from the season 8 opener, “Starling City,” takes the form of a near shot-for-shot remake of the first minute of Arrow‘s pilot episode from all those years ago. Just as in the original, it sees Oliver Queen finally rescued from the island of Lian Yu. But there’s one small difference that tells us this is not the same reality that we’re used to: in place of Deathstroke’s helmet on a pike is instead…Batman’s cowl!
Remember at the end of season 7, the Monitor took the Emerald Archer with him in advance of the incoming Crisis that threatens the entire multiverse. As such,...

This Arrow review contains spoilers.
Arrow Season 8 Episode 1
The Arrow season 8 premiere is more playful and fun than the show has been in a long time, and that’s not just the nostalgia talking. Sure, there’s the fun of bringing back so many old favorites for a victory lap, but we’ve all seen plenty of shows screw that up. At the core, Stephen Amell is playing Oliver Queen with a levity reminiscent of the last crossover, pumping more of his natural charm into the role than usual.
Yes, all the impending dread of his death and the heartache of the absence of Felicity are still there, but this is clearly a guy who’s enjoying his swan song, and he’s soaking up every minute of it.

Arrow is bowing out with its upcoming eighth season, with its final 10 episodes serving as something of a victory lap for the long-running CW show. We’ve previously had it confirmed that the first two episodes of the season will pay homage to past runs, with episode 1 calling back to its debut season and episode 2 returning to themes and characters of season 3.
Continuing this nostalgia for the show’s past, star Stephen Amell is now teasing the return of Oliver Queen’s original outfit from Arrow‘s first season. The actor shared a snap of himself with producer/director James Bamford on Twitter. Though he attempted to scribble over the suit he’s wearing in the selfie, it’s clear to fans that he’s back in the costume worn by “the Hood” in the Emerald Archer’s early days of saving Star City. Or Starling City, as it was known at the time.

Arrow has cast Charlie Barnett as the adult version of JJ, Diggle and Lyla's Flashpoint-born son
While it might feel like Arrow is getting ready to say goodbye with its final, 10-episode season starting this fall, there’s still time to say hello to at least one new face. At Comic Con, Arrow’s producers announced that we’re finally going to see JJ, John Diggle’s (David Ramsey) son, in Arrow’s flash-forwards, played by Charlie Barnett (Russian Doll, Tales of the City).
So far, we’ve only met JJ (short for John Jr.) in the present tense where he’s a baby. JJ is a living artifact of the Flashpoint storyline. In the original timeline, Diggle and Lyla (Audrey Marie Anderson) had a daughter they named Sara, after Sara Lance (Caity Lotz) who was – at the time – deceased. Barry Allen’s (Grant Gustin...

Traitors, betrayers, backstabbers -- they have reservations to dine with Judas and Brutus, but when it comes to TV they're a necessary evil. Their ability to pull the rug out from under our heroes is what keeps us glued to our screens. Finding out if they will reign supreme or finally be outwitted is what keeps coming back for more.

Why do they do it, we ask. Some times there are sympathetic or tragic motives. Others delight in being a card-carrying villain who brings chaos to the realm. Many do it for riches and power. Whatever the reason, all we can do is watch in awed horror as they commit one unspeakable deed after another.
Traitors come disguised as all sorts of characters: saintly doctors, childhood friends, or grandmas raising a pack of kids all on their own.

The more one ponders Arrow‘s Season 7 flash-forwards, the more questions arise — and I’m not talking about, “Who killed Felicity?” or “How does a street fighter have a perfect manicure?”
No, the biggest mystery continues to be: What is the true purpose of this future narrative?
To recap: The Arrowverse visited a future Star City before, with a Season 1 Legends of Tomorrow episode that suggested what Oliver Queen’s hometown might look like if the immortal Vandal Savage was never defeated. But this trip is different, in that it’s not presented as a possible future but as the future.

Though I’m currently digging Legends of Tomorrow much more than I did during its earlier days, I must confess that season 1’s “Star City 2046” may very well be my favorite episode to date. In that, the Waverider crew visited the Emerald Archer’s stomping grounds in a dystopian future where Connor Hawke Aka John Diggle Jr. inherited the mantle, with Oliver Queen himself being a one-armed recluse. On top of that, Slade Wilson’s son, Grant, held dominion as the second Deathstroke. Yes, it was pretty cool.
Well, if you’ve been following Arrow this season, then you’re aware of how it’s played host to flash forwards taking place twenty years down the road, therefore presumably being in 2038. And while there, Ollie’s son, William, meets a grizzled Roy Harper now calling Lian Yu home.

This week on The CW’s Arrow, Felicity clashed with Diggle, a pair of Canaries pondered cooperation and new flash forwards shed a bit of light on William and Roy’s future fates.
Starting with, well, the future, William’s reunion with Roy let slip with a few, but major, details on their respective lives. Picking up mid-huddle around a Lian Yu campfire, Roy remarked, “Felicity and Oliver, they really just left you?” To which William admitted, “Pretty much. And my ex-boyfriend wonders why I have commitment issues.” That said, William “survived” the aforementioned family sitch.

When Colton Haynes was confirmed to return as a series regular for Arrow season 7 this past spring, the fanbase understandably began dancing in the streets. After all, who wouldn’t want to see Star City’s Dynamic Duo of Green Arrow and Arsenal reunite and kick some serious butt?
Well, at the moment, it’s looking like the dream team coming together for another tour has been put on hold because not only is Oliver Queen behind bars, but Roy Harper’s role on the show seems to be confined to flash forwards for the foreseeable future.
You see, those new flash forwards kicked off by showing Ollie’s son, William, venturing to Lian Yu at some point in the future, only to come across a grizzled and reclusive Roy. How both get to there is anybody’s guess, though I certainly can’t wait to find out.

During its first five seasons, Arrow relied on the flashback element in order to fully flesh out the time Oliver Queen spent away from Star(ling) City, while sometimes tying into whatever was going on in the present. But after season 5 concluded, it became obvious this storytelling method would no longer be utilized.
Well, actually, we did see some flashbacks during season 6, but those were of the standard variety. In other words, they were included when appropriate, such as when the writers needed to expand upon the history shared between Slade Wilson and his son.
Now, in season 7, the producers have implemented the concept of flash forwards. And interestingly enough, these sequences taking place in the future won’t be exclusive to this year of programming – they’re here to stay for the duration of the series.

The highly anticipated Longbow Hunters are here and they do not disappoint
This Arrow review contains spoilers.
Arrow Season 7 Episode 2
Tonight on Arrow the Longbow Hunters are finally here, and with them they brought some sweet tech, a long overdue Diaz ass-kicking courtesy of one John Diggle, and some epic team-ups from some surprising pairs of women. The team concept came up a lot this episode – who’s on which one, does one even exist, and Diggle & Ollie’s attempts to do their best without the meaningful backup that they’re used to. After the schism of last season, an extended arc focused on healing those wounds in a real way and getting back to valuing their collective contributions could be a nice way forward.
Oliver is now navigating Slabside openly as the Green Arrow, which turns out to be a bit better than he thought it would. Oliver finds...

Ben Lewis is joining the cast of the CW’s Arrow for a season-long arc after being introduced in Monday night’s season premiere as the future adult version of William “Will” Clayton, the son of Oliver Queen and the late Samantha Clayton.
The character was initially presented to Arrow viewers as a mystery man seeking Lian Yu, the island in the North China Sea where Queen (Stephen Amell) learned the skills that made him the show’s title hero. The climax of Monday’s episode revealed his surprising heritage during his unexpected encounter with Roy Harper (Colton Haynes) — but that only deepened the mystery since that meeting apparently takes place two decades in the future.
The character of young William Clayton has been portrayed since 2015 by Canadian actor Jack Moore, who recently appeared in the season 7 premiere of Arrow.
Lewis’ previous credits include Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World, The Handmaid’s Tale,...

When Colton Haynes was confirmed to return to Arrow as a series regular this past spring, the fanbase likely thought a reunion involving the Dynamic Duo that is Green Arrow and Arsenal was a certainty, but Oliver Queen spending his days and nights in Supermax lockup sure put a damper on that.
Still, having Roy Harper around in any capacity is a real delight, though I certainly can’t be the only one who assumed he’s the new Emerald Archer prowling Star City. But after tuning in for last night’s premiere, I’m not so sure anymore.
You see, while the producers are yet to reveal who’s under the hood, we do know the new vigilante in town is crossing names off a list eerily similar to the one Oliver swore by back in season 1. Furthermore, the new flash forwards could have some connection to his true identity.

While traversing the island where his dad was stranded for so many years, William got caught in a trap. Having to keep track of so many series these days, there are very few that I make it a point to acquire each and every season. After all, a person has only so much time, money and shelf space. But when it comes to Arrow, I can’t help adding the next chapter to my collection once it arrives on home video.
That said, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed taking in season 6 in its entirety over the past week or so. Though I did originally tune in to watch it live, I certainly didn’t mind a second tour on Blu-ray because there was just so much going on this year.
Long story short, the saga resumes not long after Team Arrow and friends were caught in the blast caused by Prometheus on Lian Yu, with pretty much everyone except the mother of Oliver Queen’s (Stephen Amell) child making it out alive.

Over the course of Arrow‘s six seasons, we’ve seen Oliver Queen evolve generously – both as a hero and as a person. But now that he’s spent some time behind bars, it’s only expected that prison could change him. The Emerald Archer may have once called Lian Yu home, sure, but an extended stay at a Supermax penitentiary no doubt makes for a much different experience.
Speaking of which, Entertainment Weekly recently caught up with new showrunner Beth Schwartz, who not only touched on this idea, but also hinted that the show will return to the tone of its freshman year:
“I can’t swear though…Dark. It’s tonally similar to season one. We’re just going back to our roots, and there’s a lot of demons that are going to come out. That’s all I can say.”

Arrow‘s sixth season so far has featured several elements that could be considered game-changing. Team Arrow has broken apart over the past little while, Willa Holland – who had been part of the show since the very beginning – appeared for the last time and let’s not forget this was the first run not to utilize the flashback structure that fueled the first five years.
However, it seems this has all been paving the way for something huge that’s set to happen in the season 6 finale. In a recent interview, Arrow showrunner Marc Guggenheim promised that the upcoming climax of the current run of The CW’s DC TV show will be “unconventional” and “a real game-changer.”
“It’s gonna be interesting. It’s very, you know, I’ve been saying it’s an unconventional kind of finale. It still feels very much like a season finale. When I...

Since Oliver Queen’s crusade began back in the fall of 2012, we’ve seen Arrow gradually evolve into the beast that it is now. This week's episode of Arrow felt a bit perfunctory and low-stakes all around since Slade has stepped right into Malcolm Merlyn's story beats as the deadly dad whose motives you can never trust 100 per cent. (Albeit a less murder-y one.) With the flashbacks to a post-Lian Yu Slade, many mentions of Mirakuru, and the generic Eastern European setting, this all feels a bit like retreading old ground.
Team Arrow mostly rides the bench yet again, the cost of a still-large cast, even after some pruning. The villain of the week is forgettable aside from making John Diggle's secrets finally catch up to him. Unfortunately, the emotional fallout is practically negligible.
