A year after Legendary brought in Chris Albrecht to launch Legendary Global, the former Starz CEO is taking over the company’s entire TV operation.
Legendary is consolidating its international (Legendary Global) and domestic TV businesses under Albrecht, who has been named Head of Legendary Television. Nick Pepper, who served as President of Legendary Television for the past three years, will transition to an executive producer role on projects he had developed.
The move had been in the works for the last couple of months, with Albrecht gradually expanding his responsibilities. It aims at better positioning the company to capitalize on the global expansion of the U.S. streamers and the heightened need for platform defining content. Accelerated by the coronavirus pandemic, the combining of the entities also increases operational efficiency and performance.
Joining the consolidated unit in a newly created role is CAA veteran Danny Grover as head of Business Affairs.

Kurt Wallander is set to take on more cases after European drama Young Wallander was renewed at Netflix for a second season.
The streamer launched the first season of the series, produced by Banijay-backed Yellow Bird UK and based on Henning Mankell’s novels, in September.
Swedish actor Adam Pålsson stars as the eponymous detective with Argo’s Richard Dillane and Black Mirror’s previously Leanne Best also starring. Pålsson takes on the mantle of Wallander after he was played by Kenneth Branagh in a BBC adaptation of Mankell’s books.
The show is a modern reimagining of the detective story with Kurt Wallander navigating the increasingly violent environment of present-day Sweden. In the first season, after he was unable to save a teenager from a gruesome attack, Wallander had to learn to cope with his guilt in order to solve the crime.

Exclusive: Sky is taking another crack at time-travel after the pay-tv giant began developing a remake of H.G. Wells’ classic novella The Time Machine with Tessa Ross and Juliette Howell’s House Productions.

I understand that the project in the “very early stages of development.”
The drama would likely air on its Sky Atlantic channel, which is looking for more big-budget originals to air alongside dramas such as Riviera and Tin Star as well as its imported shows from HBO and Showtime.

BBC America often functions as a catch-all for any and all British series seeking U.S. distribution, but that’s rarely as apparent as it is with the arrival of Prey, a wholly derivative but solidly delivered slice of serialized storytelling that’s not a six-part thriller so much as two three-part seasons jammed together for broadcast purposes.
Without any additional series on order, it appears that the six episodes unspooling over the next few weeks are all audiences will get of Prey, from writer-creator Chris Lunt, which makes its stateside landing feel less like a premiere and more like a burn-off. But even if that’s the case, there’s enough here for fans of copper comfort-food to temporarily warm themselves with.

It's been long in the works, but ITV has now confirmed that it's ordered a pilot for a revival of The Saint.
Set to go into production in 2016, this new take from writers Ed Whitmore (Arthur & George) and Chris Lunt (Prey) promises to bring Simon Templar - a roguish Robin Hood for the modern day - to a whole new audience.
But who could possibly follow in the esteemed footsteps of Sir Roger Moore (and Ian Ogilvy... and, erm, Val Kilmer) in bringing Leslie Charteris's gentleman thief to life? Digital Spy has picked out 12 potentials.
1. James Norton
Last year, Norton delivered two spectacularly disparate performances - as reprehensible Tommy Lee Royce on BBC One's Happy Valley and as 'sexy vicar' Sidney Chambers on ITV's Grantchester. Take a little of Royce's edginess, add a dash of Chambers's charm and you might just have yourself the perfect Saint.

According to the Radio Times, the pilot will go into production in 2016.
The Saint was originally created by Leslie Charteris, and starred Roger Moore from 1962 to 1969.
The series follows the character of Simon Templar, a criminal who is known for leaving a stick figure with a halo at the scene of his crimes.
Whitmore said: "There is a post-Breaking Bad appetite for morally grey characters. Simon Templar is a kind of Robin Hood figure - he's timeless."

Outside of his stint as James Bond, Roger Moore's most iconic other role was that of the well dressed Simon Templar, the titular hero of the 1960s TV series "The Saint".
Today, The Radio Times reports that ITV is planning to reboot the franchise with a pilot being ordered for a modern day incarnation of the series. Leslie Charteris created the original novels that inspired the series which produced 118 episodes and was popular in over sixty countries.
Ed Whitmore ("Waking the Dead") and Chris Lunt ("Prey") are penning the pilot for the new version which aims to go into production next year. Prey comes to an end, and keeps up its high standard. Here's our spoiler-filled review of the finale...
Review
This review contains spoilers.
The final episode of Prey opens with each of the main characters in varying states of disarray; Marcus is injured and in the middle of nowhere, Reinhardt’s stranded after he leaves her unconscious, Mac is forced into increasing levels of manipulation and Sean is so consumed by guilt and grief that he’s permanently drunk. After the incredible train sequence that concluded the second episode, the third takes a quieter approach, returning the emphasis to the personal stakes of Marcus’ story.
I often think the most difficult aspect of a series such as Prey is sticking the landing after building up something up so effectively. With the expansion of the events around Marcus, it could have easily gotten away from Chris Lunt and Nick Murphy and becoming something overblown and unsatisfying.

A new version of classic TV series The Saint is being developed.
Prey writer Chris Lunt revealed on BBC Radio 5 Live today (April 29) that he has been hired to write a brand new version of the classic spy series starring Sir Roger Moore.
"I'm doing a reboot of The Saint, just script commissions at the moment, they are not guaranteed at the moment, but yes - that's quite exciting," he said.
Lunt explained that he will be heading to Hollywood with writer Ed Whitmore (Silent Witness), and that it will "have a very British feel" and will be "shot half in the UK and Europe and half globally".
He continued: "It's been produced by this American production company but they're looking for a British broadcaster to come attached. I've got a meeting with Sky soon."
Last year, The Saint was adapted for a new series by production company Mpca, starring Adam Rayner as Simon Templar.

ITV's new crime mini-series is a tense, dramatic affair - though when was the last time you saw a floppy disk in real life?
This review contains spoilers.
Prey opens with police officer Marcus Farrow (John Simm) emerging from a crashed police van: not in his professional capacity, but as a prisoner. He swiftly makes an escape after helping the other victims of the crash in a bold opening that quickly sets the tone for the remaining episode. Flashback to three days earlier, Farrow is helping his colleague and friend, Sean (Craig Parkinson), with an investigation into a body that could be a missing Turkish gangster, the key to which could be on a couple of floppy disks which hold the original case files (it’s been a long time since I’ve seen a floppy disk as a crucial plot point).

John Simm is to star in a new drama series for ITV.
Prey - written by newcomer Chris Lunt - will see the Life on Mars actor play a cop suspected of murder.
When Simm's DC Marcus Farrow is found at the scene of brutal crime, he is forced to go on the run in Manchester.
His colleague DS Susan Reinhardt is soon tasked with catching the family man, sparking a high-stakes game of cat and mouse across the city.
"We're attempting something different with Prey," said Nicola Shindler of Red Production Company.
"It's very fast-paced and to enhance the high octane qualities of Chris's brilliant scripts we'll be shooting essentially from the back of a transit van.
"It's almost a guerrilla style technique, which will make Prey feel accessible and edgy with the 'real' factor."
ITV's Director of Drama, Steve November, added: "Chris Lunt is a very talented writer...
