In this sci-fi time travel short called “Time Trap,” a cyborg space traveller crash lands on a barren, post-apocalyptic Earth, where he must use a “Portable Time Bubble Generator” to steal resources from the past to repair his ship. We’re all fascinated by the possibility of traveling through time, and this short features a fun and unique approach that skips the usual tropes and explores the idea of reaching into small pockets of the past to obtain necessary objects, rather than traveling to the past to alter the present/future.
The short was written and directed by Michael Shanks, whose VFX work you should be familiar with if you're one of the millions of people who watched the George Lucas Special Edition Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer spoof. This original effort of his oozes a retro vibe and successfully mines laughs with virtually no dialogue. What’s that,...

Australian director Michael Shanks is a pro. He writes, directs, handles VFX and acts in his own films. He also has the most fun on the internet. Need proof? Just check out his latest film Time Trap which debuted in ful online now that its festival stint is over and done with.
Oh yeah, and he's like in his twenties.
Synopsis:

In the eyes of these talented Australian filmmakers the plight of society and relationships in the future is as certain as the apocalypse is probably tomorrow. Cough. Probably. Remember to always look where you leap!

Impossibly young and stupidly talented Australian director Michael Shanks has turned up here in the pages of Twitch several times over the past few year. Now in his early twenties there's seemingly nothing Shanks can't do, starting with a YouTube channel that drew fans with his playful and beautifully executed video game themed videos before broadening out into often surreal music videos and on to short films. Shanks does pretty much everything himself - writing, directing, VFX, often the music, often starring - and has grown from his video game origins to winning awards at festivals and now directing an album's worth (or at least as many as he ultimately decides he wants) of music videos for Guy Pearce.Which brings us to Time Trap, a...
