- Christian Lainez is a production sound mixer and boom operator with varied interests in film, music, and technology. Born and raised in South Los Angeles, Christian became obsessed with films at an early age spending what free time he had watching and dissecting movies and music. After high school, he earned a degree as an Associate of Science in the Recording Arts at the Los Angeles Recording School in 2013. In 2015, instructors at the AFI Conservatory in Los Angeles invited him to participate in lecturing their fellows in production sound for their boot-camp lecture and exercise at the beginning of their studies, and was invited back for 2016-2021. In 2022, Christian joined IATSE Local 695 and carries Y-8 classification as a boom operator with pride. For 2023-2024, Christian participated in the Latino Film Institute's Youth Cinema Project fellowship teaching high school students how to run sound department for narrative short films produced by the students for the Los Angeles Latino Independent Film Festival (LALIFF). In 2024, he was nominated at the the 51st Daytime Emmy Awards in the category of Outstanding Sound Mixing and Sound Editing for Temple of Film: 100 Years of the Egyptian Theater from MakeMake Entertainment and Netflix. An avid film enthusiast, former LA historian, and technological enthusiast, he is guaranteed to exhaust any ear with film trivia. His favorite films include George Cukor's The Philadelphia Story, John Carpenter's Halloween, and Wes Craven's Scream.
