If OWN’s The Kings of Napa were a wine, it would be a full-bodied blend of Falcon Crest and Empire, the primetime-soap equivalent of a red whose acidity sneaks up on you — gradually. Before we taste its afternotes of intrigue, though, Tuesday’s premiere introduces us in short order to the King family: doctor Reginald (Isiah Whitlock Jr.) and former-tv-reporter wife Vanessa (Karen LeBlanc), and their squabbling offspring, firstborn Dana (Rance Nix), the mercenary CFO of their winery, middle child August (Ebonee Noel), its head of marketing, and baby boy Christian (Ashlee Brian), who’s more interested in making bourbon than vino.

OWN has revealed The Kings of Napa will premiere on January 11, 2022, at 9 p.m. Et/Pt.
Created by Janine Sherman Barrois, the series is focused on a picturesque Napa Valley, California vineyard owned by the Kings, an aspirational African American family whose wealth and status land them on the pages of design magazines and society pages. The wine business has brought the family success and acclaim, but following the patriarch’s sudden exit from the company, his three children must grapple for the reigns to the kingdom — to their own power, wealth, and legacy.
Academy Award winner Matthew A. Cherry will direct the first two episodes; Ebonee Noel, Rance Nix, Karen LeBlanc, Yaani King Mondschein, Ashlee Brian, and Devika Parikh are set to recur. Guest stars include Isiah Whitlock Jr., Heather Simms, Curtis Hamilton, and Samantha Walkes.
The Kings of Napa is produced for OWN by Harpo Films in association with Warner Bros. Television.

‘Love is Blind: After the Altar’ to Reunite Season 1 Cast for July Reunion Special (TV News Roundup)
The original quarantine couples are back. “Love is Blind: After the Altar,” and three-episode special followup to “Love is Blind,” will premiere July 28 on Netflix.
“Love is Blind: After the Alter” brings back Season 1 fan favorites as they prepare for a two-year anniversary party for the Hamiltons and the Barnetts, the two couples to successfully make it down the aisle during the “Love is Blind” experiment. Ahead of the party, audiences will get to catch up with the cast as they settle back into their daily lives in Atlanta, Ga. When the show ended, some singles left with a sour taste in their mouth about the experiment’s outcomes, so there is no doubt there will be drama and surprise appearances.
“When we get the group together, it’s always a fun time,” Cameron Hamilton assures in the trailer, which you can watch below.

Dick Wolf has always envisioned FBI as a franchise and pitched the original series to CBS that way from the start.
The success of the original series and FBI: Most Wanted has increased chatter of a second spinoff.
CBS Entertainment President Kelly Kahl didn’t dampen these hopes in an interview with Deadline. “We are always talking to Dick [Wolf] and Dick is always bouncing ideas off of us and I can’t rule anything out,” he said.
There were suggestions that Wolf, who co-created mothership FBI with Craig Turk, would launch another spinoff in the upcoming broadcast season, having focused on launching FBI: Most Wanted, created by René Balcer, this season. Both shows were renewed for new seasons earlier this month.
Wolf, who is behind the formidable Law & Order and Chicago franchises, hinted at this year’s winter TCA that the franchise offers an “endless trove of stories”.

Only one Big 4 broadcast series actually grew its TV ratings from the first week of the 2019-20 television season to the second. Congratulations to CBS drama “FBI” — at least one branch of the federal government is actually improving these days.
Counting a week of delayed viewing, the CBS procedural grew from a 1.56 premiere-week rating in the important adults 18-49 demographic to a 1.58 on the following Tuesday night, according to Nielsen. That represents an enormous increase of — wait for it — 1.2821%.

Veteran television producer Dick Wolf, best known for creating the “Law & Order” franchise, is eyeing a cross-network crossover between his CBS freshman procedural “FBI” or its in-the-works spinoff “FBI: Most Wanted” and one of his NBC shows, such as “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” or “Chicago P.D.”
The decision whether to go with “FBI” or its spinoff, and which NBC show to partner with “depends on which story wins,” he told Variety at the Monte Carlo TV Festival on Saturday.
Wolf said the cross-network crossover was his idea, and both CBS and NBC are open to it, although it has yet to be confirmed. “CBS and NBC both want to do it – whether they can figure it out is above my pay grade,” he said.
The crossover would be quite natural given the FBI’s real-life collaborations with different law enforcement agencies. Wolf gave one example. “Svu deals...

With more than two dozen of former President Obama's 'FBI' and 'Department of Justice' top officials resigned, fired or demoted by the Bureau in the wake of attempts to rig and obstruct the results of the 2016 Us presidential election, producer Dick Wolf, of "Law and Order" TV series fame, has received a straight-to-series order for 13 episodes of a new "FBI" dramatic series, scheduled to debut on CBS, September 25, 2018:

FBI executive producer and TV Godfather of the procedural said Sunday morning he was excited to be at TCA with a CBS show in “long, long time.” And by that, he was referring to the short-lived 1997 series Feds. But with FBI, Wolf brings a new look at the bureau that has been under attack by Donald Trump for obvious reasons. Even so, Wolf is looking to not politicize the new series which will debut on Sept. 20.
Wolf, who was joined on the stage by series stars Missy Peregrym, Zeeko Zaki, Ebonee Noel, and Jeremy Sisto, said that he has avoided politically-driven shows. “If you do that, 50% of the audience is pissed off from the first frame,” he said.
With FBI, Wolf said he fulfilled a dream, having been in close relationship to the bureau from a very young age. His uncle was in the FBI and he idolized him and the agents.

On Thursday, The Orchard announced it would be "giving careful consideration" to the release of Louis C.K.'s film, I Love You, Daddy, in the wake of allegations of sexual misconduct against the comedian. It took less than 24 hours of consideration for the distributor to scrap it altogether. Sure, you could do like Ridley Scott and recast C.K. with Christopher Plummer, but Plummer can't rewrite and reshoot the entire movie, too.
That the movie should never see the light of day is only a shame for one reason: the actresses, especially -- Chloë Grace Moretz, Edie Falco, Pamela Adlon, Rose Byrne -- give great performances. But also, there is no reason this movie ever should have happened. Considering C.K. is (or was) one of the most successful working standups and a six-time Emmy winner still extolled for his series, Louie, he seemingly could have made any movie he wanted. When the dust settles on a Toronto International Film Festival already chock full of politically incorrect films, Louis C.K.'s I Love You, Daddy will likely be the one that generates the most think pieces and, yes, blogger outrage.
