Adam Cicchillitti
Hailing from Montreal, Adam Cicchillitti is an emerging artist with a
Master's Degree in performance guitar, having studied with all four
members of the original Canadian Guitar Quartet, Phil Candelaria,
Patrick Roux, Denis Donegani and Louis Trepanier while attending the
University of Ottawa, as well as Dr. Garry Antonio at McGill University
and 2005 GFA winner Jérome Ducharme. He has performed in masterclasses
with Pepe Romero, Manuel Barrueco, Benjamin Verdery, Fabio Zanon, Ana
Vidovic, Lorenzo Micheli and Nigel North among others and actively
performs throughout Quebec and Eastern Ontario as soloist and as guest
artist. In 2013, Adam was contracted by Radio-Canada and CBC to
complete twenty arrangements of Schubert lieder for voice and guitar
for part of their series of concerts découvertes, accompanying Philippe
Sly, recent recipient of the Montreal International Voice Competition
and 2012 Metropolitan Opera Young Artist Competition 1st prize. The
live concert was nationally broadcast on Espace-Musique in April 2013
with a series of videorecordings. Later that year, Adam was awarded a
six-week concert tour for his interpretation of Spanish repertoire with
the prestigious Jeunesses Musicales that will take him through the
Maritimes in 2015. Adam has been the recipient of a plethora of
academic and performance-based scholarships since he began focusing on
his musical career in 2005. Some of his notable prizes include the
Maurice Pollack Scholarship (2009), Domaine Forget Academy scholarship
(2009) and a 3rd place finish at the Kiwanis National Competition in
2010. Adam has a great love for child pedagogy and is actively teaching
over 40 students weekly through schools such as the University of
Ottawa, Académie de guitare de l'Outaouais and Ottawa Suzuki Strings.
Lessons range from guitar and keyboard proficiency to solfege, ear
training and dictation with particular emphasis on the Suzuki approach
to individual and group training when working with children.
