- Survived a major stroke at the age of 14, caused by complications of infective endocarditis due to mitral valve prolapse. He fully recovered within two months. (December 2010)

- He decided to become an animator after seeing Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit (2005) at the cinema.
- Is from the same hometown as David Tennant, Gerard Butler, Tom Conti, Neve McIntosh, Carmen Pierquaccini and Paolo Nutini. Coincidentally, Pierquaccini presented him with his first ever filmmaking award.
- Is a fan of directors Wes Anderson, Paul Thomas Anderson, Stanley Kubrick, Steven Spielberg, Bill Forsyth, Martin Scorsese, Mel Brooks, Kevin Smith and Quentin Tarantino.
- Although he can sing, he has never learned how to read music and learns songs by ear.
