Kendrick Lamar has released a brand new song and video, “Humble.” The clip was directed by Dave Meyers alongside Lamar and Top Dawg Entertainment President Dave Free (Lamar and Free are known as The Little Homies). The song was produced by Mike WiLL Made-It.
“Humble.” comes just one week after the release of another new song, “The Heart Part 4.” Both tracks are from Lamar’s highly anticipated upcoming album, which is expected to drop April 7, as reported by NME. The release follows the Compton rapper’s acclaimed third studio album “To Pimp a Butterfly,” which dropped in 2015.

Jonah Hill has earned two Academy Award nominations, but what he really wants to do is direct. (And rap.) The actor has done just that in collaboration with Danny Brown, whose “Ain’t It Funny” video Hill helmed. Watch below.

Filmed in the style of a bizarre, would-be wholesome sitcom reminiscent of a much darker “Full House,” the video stars Gus Van Sant and Joanna Kerns alongside Brown himself as Uncle Danny, the patriarch of a family that isn’t as PG as the Tanners. Hill’s enthusiasm for rap should be well known by anyone who saw him perform a few lines of “Jumpman” on “SNL” and/or play “Connect 4” with Kanye West.

Jonah Hill will soon mount his feature directorial debut “Mid ’90s,” but the aspiring filmmaker has already cut his teeth in the music video realm, getting behind the camera for Sara Bareilles‘ “Gonna Get Over You.” However, he really takes it up a notch with “Ain’t It Funny” for out there rapper Danny Brown.
Featuring “Growing Pains” Mom Joanna Kerns and Gus Van Sant (who Hill is currently working with on “Don’t Worry, He Won’t Get Far on Foot“), the clever concept imagines Danny Brown as a troubled, sad sack, and potentially dangerous comic relief in an ’80s style sitcom.

To close out the Adult Swim Singles series (which brought us gems from Chromatics and Danny Brown), Run the Jewels have shared a fiery new song, "Rubble Kings Theme (Dynamite)," for the documentary Rubble Kings (streaming now on Netflix), which explores how the gang culture that ran New York City's streets from the late '60s into the '70s laid the groundwork for hip-hop's birth. There are no cat sounds to be heard here; instead, what you get is Killer Mike and El-p in typical take-no-prisoners form over a grizzly Little Shalimar–produced beat. "I am done asking and pleading and begging you recognize I am alive," El-p growls, in an especially fearless performance. Also featured on the doc's soundtrack are Bun B, Mr. Muthafuckin eXquire, and Ka, so it's probably worth a listen.

Who would've thought a show about a bunch of nerds in a tech startup incubator would've become one of the freshest comedy hits of 2014? "Office Space" creator Mike Judge showed he hasn't lost his touch for the inanities of the workplace, and "Silicon Valley" is now riding a much bigger wave heading into season two. And the first trailer is here. Nope, you won't find much in the way of plot, but simply a humorous reintroduction of the geeky, gawky gang — Thomas Middleditch, T.J. Miller, Zach Woods, Kumail Nanjiani, Martin Starr — who are still chasing big tech dreams. The only question we have is whether or not season two can top the epic dick joke in the season one finale. Even if it comes close, it'll hit a pretty high bar. "Silicon Valley" is back on April 12th. And in case you're wondering, the song in the trailer is "Smokin' & Drinkin'" by Danny Brown.

Off of Eminem's Shady Xv compilation, we get "Detroit vs. Everybody," featuring not only Em himself, but Detroit natives Big Sean, Danny Brown, Dej Loaf, Royce da 5'9", and Trick Trick. Everyone's stepping up to the plate here – from Dej's catchy hook to the part when Big Sean puts on wire-rimmed glasses mid-verse. Even Em goes in on his own Detroit beginnings: "'Cause it's so cold in the D, it is as days begin to tick away / But ain't this what really made me into the angry bitter blond." And you thought you had seen it all after watching 8 Mile.

The "Shady Xv" 15th anniversary compilation album isn't officially billed as a new Eminem album, but new music from Slim Shady is all over it. The comp has one side that's 15 previously released Shady Records tunes, plus a bonus track that's the original demo of Eminem's great "Lose Yourself." The other side is all-new tracks, with Eminem leading or featuring on at least 10 out of 12 of the songs. Em fronts the songs "Shady Xv," "Die Alone" featuring Kobe, previously released "Guts Over Fear" featuring Sia, "Right for Me" and "Fine Line." He's also part of the D12 crew, rhymes with Royce da 5'9" in Bad Meets Evil and is part of a group track "Detroit Vs. Everybody" that co-leads with Royce, Big Sean, Danny Brown, DeJ Loaf and Trick Trick. The full tracklist to both discs are below. Eminem executive produced the set. "Shady Xv" is out on Nov.

This week has been a lot more exciting than last as it has been fantastic in the music video realm. Three of the videos in this week’s list all share beautifully choreographed routines with equally stunning cinematography. The imagery is sharp, slick and stylistic but it is the other two that stand out for me. Both Rustie’s and Arcade Fire’s videos take two conventional music video formats (lyric video and performance video) and challenge the way we look at music videos. It is great to see that there are still artists out there creative enough to take a usually rigid format and get extremely creative with it. Both videos work well as the creative elements are very simple.
Enjoy!

Danny Brown has new music lined up with a couple different sources this week: he's combined with throwback sounds for Rustie's sophomore set, and hit up Lucki Eck$ for a new crunchy club track. Regarding the first one: Rustie's song "Attak" Is Ridiculous, in part because of the d'n'b noise that won't give up on that trap, and in part because of bespeckled Danny Brown's nasally rhymes dripping off of it like a well-worn scarf. The lyric video for the second song to arrive from Rustie's album "Green Language" -- due Aug. 25 -- is below. If you're having trouble deciphering the Detroit MCs lyrics... well, you may continue to have problems (but in a Fun way!) trying to wrap your head around the animated words that stream across the screen. There's a music video making a splash on the Internet, but unlike most music videos that go viral, its song of choice isn't some current pop anthem. Instead, the latest offering from interactive video company Interlude creates a network of 16 channels all lip-syncing along to Bob Dylan's 'Like A Rolling Stone'. I could go into explicit detail about the intricacies of the fascinating video, which spans the length of the song and never misses a beat as viewers flip randomly between its channels, but you should really just watch it for yourself. Keep in mind that everything was filmed specifically for this video, which means Interlude secured Marc Maron, Danny Brown, Drew Carey, the cast of Pawn Stars, and several other notable people as guest stars. Interlude was hired by Columbia Legacy/Recordings to create the videos, which has been released to coincide with a new 47-cd Bob Dylan box set.

“Like a Rolling Stone” is maybe the most well-known song by obscure folk artist Bob Dylan. For those unfamiliar, some historians call him the “Taylor Swift of the early 60s.” Well, Interlude has made the coolest possible video for the song, in honor of his The Complete Album Collection, Vol. 1. Directed by popular YouTuber Vania Heymanm, the interactive video is meant to simulate flipping through TV channels. There are sixteen unique channels, each with different people lip-syncing the song. Marc Maron, Drew Carey, Danny Brown are among the syncers. Dylan gets his own channel just so someone can think of him as that guy with the weird hair from that Drew Carey music video.

Mad Decent's Block Party tour is a curious thing -- an amalgam of music festival, blacktop hangout and street fair, Diplo's traveling circus of trend-setting musical acts has riled up crowds since 2008.
It's this year's Block Party, however, which is sure to be the biggest. Supported by genre standouts like Danny Brown, Riff Raff and Flosstradamus (as well as dominant crossover acts like Diplo's Major Lazer and Billboard-topper Baauer), the 2013 incarnation of the event has mushroomed to the point that it's no longer free. Megan James is flipping through an oversize coffee-table book filled with lush images of vampires, angels and demons. A fan gave the book to the Purity Ring vocalist and her bandmate Corin Roddick after a show in Chicago, and she’s fallen in love with it.
