Faceless After Dark opens with a warning about the film’s use of strobing lights, and immediately we see Bowie sitting staring at the camera as neon purple lights flash on her face as the image grows progressively smaller and unintelligible voices babble louder and louder. That and several long, eye-straining montages scattered through the film make the warning more than justified
Next we see her armed with a machete making her way through a human butcher shop, only to be confronted by the killer clown responsible for the carnage. And then mid-fight, she stops and complains about having to deliver the line, “Haven’t you heard, the circus left town bitch!”

Ascended rock deity David Bowie appeared on TV and in movies as early as 1968, only shortly after the release of his first record. His first leading performance came in 1972 with the release of Nicolas Roeg's sci-fi satire "The Man Who Fell to Earth," a film about an alien who comes to Earth and becomes distracted by drugs, TV, and other unhealthy creature comforts. Bowie later played himself in Uli Edel's harrowing 1981 J.D. flick "Christiane F.," in addition to starring in the smoky vampire film "The Hunger" and terse Pow drama "Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence." A younger generation fell in love with Bowie because of 1986's puppet film "Labyrinth," while he was cleverly cast as Pontius Pilate in Martin Scorsese's "The Last Temptation of Christ."
In 1993, when director Renny Harlin was preparing to make his mountainside actioner and Sylvester Stallone vehicle "Cliffhanger," he very much wanted Bowie to play the film's villain.

The only person who believed in David Bowie’s vision of “Young Americans” more than Bowie himself was David Sanborn. The saxophonist, who was trained in jazz, had broken into the pop world as a member of the Paul Butterfield Blues Band and by guesting on Stevie Wonder’s Talking Book. Sanborn, who died Sunday, was in his late 20s when he linked up with Bowie for the Diamond Dogs Tour — he’s featured on the David Live double-album — and joined him in the studio for the recording of Bowie...

David Sanborn, the multi-genre saxophonist who performed with David Bowie, Stevie Wonder, James Brown, Carly Simon, James Taylor, and many more, has died. He was 78 years old.
Sanborn’s passing was confirmed on Monday via a post on his social media. “It is with sad and heavy hearts that we convey to you the loss of internationally renowned, six-time Grammy Award-winning, saxophonist, David Sanborn,” the post read. “Mr. Sanborn passed Sunday afternoon, May 12th, after an extended battle with prostate cancer with complications.”
Born in 1945, Sanbron was introduced to the saxophone during his childhood as a means of recovering from polio. By the time he was 14, he had the opportunity to perform with blues legends like Albert King and Little Milton, the first of his many, many collaborations.
In 1967, he joined The Paul Butterfield Blues Band, whom he played with at Woodstock two years later. In the early ‘70s, he began performing with more artists,...

David Sanborn, the six time Grammy-winning alto saxophonist who played at Woodstock, composed music for the Lethal Weapon movies, played in the SNL and Late Night with David Letterman bands and worked with everyone from Stevie Wonder to David Bowie, died Sunday afternoon, May 12th, after an extended battle with prostate cancer with complications. He Was 78.
Sanborn’s music is often described “smooth jazz,” but he reportedly rejected that characterization, and one can see why. His lively, iconic sax solo on Bowie’s “Young Americans” is anything but. Sanborn preferred the idea that he “put the saxophone back into rock ’n’ roll.”
Indeed, he worked with a virtual who’s who of rock and R&b legends, including James Brown, Eric Clapton, Roger Daltrey, Stevie Wonder, Paul Simon, Bruce Springsteen, James Taylor, Al Jarreau, George Benson, Elton John, Carly Simon, Linda Ronstadt, Billy Joel, Roger Waters, Steely Dan, the Eagles,...

With Earth Day coming up in a few days, Brian Eno has called on Mother Nature to give David Bowie’s 1995 deep cut “Get Real” a unique twist using environmental sounds. The remix has been released as part of a global music initiative called Sounds Right, which has made Nature an official artist on streaming platforms to raise money for earth conservation.
Thanks to Sounds Right, a share of royalties from any song that credits Nature as an artist will go to EarthPercent, a charity founded by Eno. The organization will then distribute that money to conservation and restoration projects in the world’s “most precious and precarious ecosystems” under the guidance of the Sounds Right Expert Advisory Panel, a group of world-leading biologists, environmental activists, Indigenous People’s representatives, and experts in conservation funding.
“Throughout my life I’ve wondered — how I can return something to the places I’ve taken ideas from?...

Meet the newest Bravolebrity. Rebecca Minkoff is joining the cast of The Real Housewives of New York City for season 15.
Minkoff will appear in the upcoming season of the Bravo show, according to a report from Deadline. However, it’s not clear whether she’ll join as a full cast member or appear as a “friend of” the Housewives.
Rhony recently underwent a full reboot, with an all-new cast replacing the Og stars. All six of those women will return for season 15. That includes designer Jenna Lyons, the former creative director of J. Crew.

Is Felicia‘s karma already rearing its head? Matt won Part 1 of the final Hoh on “Big Brother 25” in the early hours of Monday morning, sending him directly into Part 3.
It was the spinning comp that was apparently very, very cold, but Matt was rock solid and at times was hanging on by one hand, leaving Jag and Bowie Jane dumbfounded. Jag is already working overtime trying to convince himself he made the right move to keep Matt. Good luck with that. If you have to start off a sentence by saying, “It wasn’t a mistake, but…”, it probably was a mistake. Bowie said she doesn’t know what comp she can beat Matt in, a hilarious statement to make in front of the person who’s won nine comps. They (half-)jokingly called themselves losers and said they’ll both get max one vote against Matt, which would be from one another.

Hey, "Big Brother" fans. It's that time again. We're back with a couple of new, very important updates from inside the Big Brother season 25 house. This week has been sped up. So, the eviction nomination ceremony took place yesterday night, November 2, 2023, and the Pov ( Power Of Veto) competition was played earlier today, November 3, 2023 instead of its usual times on Saturdays. We've got the results from all of those events in this article. So, we're going to reveal them right now. Let's go. As we previously reported, Bowie Jane won the latest Hoh (Head Of Household) competition during last night's Live eviction episode. So, she was tasked with nominating two people for eviction last night. Since, Bowie did have to nominate Jag or Matt to go on the block against Felicia, they drew straws for it, and Matt lost. So, Bowie ended up throwing Matt on the block against Felicia at the latest nomination ceremony,...

For nine long years, Derrick Levasseur held the “Big Brother” record for lasting the most days in the house without ever being nominated for eviction. The Rhode Island police sergeant ended Season 16 on Day 97 as the ultimate winner, having never set foot on the block. Now, his record has been beaten by an unlikely houseguest from Season 25: Bowie Jane.
This Australian DJ didn’t know much about the game of “Big Brother” before being cast in the longest-ever season in the summer of 2023. However, after winning the most recent Head of Household competition on the November 2 episode, Bowie is now guaranteed to make it to the final day in the house, Day 100, without ever touching the block.
Bowie’s success is due in part to no one ever truly seeing her as a threat, in part to winning three (so far) Hoh comps, and in part to lucking into...

Second verse, same as the first. Or seventh verse. To absolutely no one’s surprise, Jag won the final Veto of “Big Brother 25” on Friday. It’s his record-setting seventh Veto of the season, eclipsing the mark of six Michael Bruner set just last year, and his ninth comp win total, tying Michael and Janelle Pierzina.
Jag is obviously not going to use the Veto, so Felicia and Matt will remain on the block for Sunday’s live eviction. Now the question is: Will Jag actually cut Matt? He should if he wants to win and he’s spent the past week putting in the work with Bowie Jane to ensure she’d take him to final two over Matt. And of course, he also believes Felicia would be an easier final two opponent than Matt. But the Mafia has been rock solid the past week to the point of ostracizing Felicia and Cirie,...

This post contains spoilers for Loki
What, exactly, has been Loki‘s glorious purpose? The second season debuted at a fallow point in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with troubles both onscreen and off. But the show has proven to be remarkably entertaining, building to a penultimate episode that stands among the best things that Marvel has ever done.
After the explosion of the temporal loom in episode four, episode five found Loki time slipping to various timeline branches, gathering Casey, Mobius, and other members of the Tva, who are apparently living their pre-tva lives. With the help of Ob, Loki gathers the Tva team together, hoping to prevent reality from devolving into spaghetti.
The episode ends with Loki realizing that he can control his time slips and bring himself to any point in time, going back before Victor Timely exploded into silly string. What does this mean for the finale and for the MCU?...

Big Brother Season 25 Week 13 ended predictably, as Survivor legend Cirie Fields was finally sent packing. Only four houseguests remain — Jag Bains, Matt Klotz, Bowie Jane, and Felicia Cannon — which means the Head of Household winner will secure their spot in the final three. So, what are the Big Brother Season 25 Week 14 spoilers looking like for the Hoh, nominations, and Power of Veto?
[Spoiler alert: Big Brother Season 25 Week 14 spoilers ahead.]
‘Big Brother’ Season 25 Week 14 spoilers: Who won the Head of Household?
According to Big Brother Season 25 Week 14 spoilers, Bowie Jane is in luck this week, as she won the Head of Household.
Jag Bains, Bowie, and Felicia Cannon played to win, but Bowie won the memory game that involved answering questions about two pages of a comic briefly shown to the houseguests. While Felicia could’ve used the win to give her some power in the house, Jag and Bowie established an early lead.

Bowie Jane is now the only “Big Brother 25” houseguest who did not hit the block this season. Who would’ve thought?
With the accelerated schedule, Bowie made her nominations Thursday night. They were Felicia (duh) and Matt (also duh), the latter of whom hadn’t touched the block until now. Nominations don’t matter in final four since it all comes down to the Veto, but now Bowie has that trump card over Matt. While Felicia decided to cook dinner for them once again, the Mafia discussed nom options for show — for show because Jag and Bowie had already decided Matt would be going up. They hatched a plan for Jag and Matt to guess a number closest to the one she was thinking of — a number that Bowie and Jag had decided in advance. What minds.

As of Thursday night, there’s only one week left in Big Brother‘s 25th season, and I suspect I’m not the only one thinking, “Thank goodness!”
Although the recent domination tour of Matt and Jag is surely a thrill for Matt and Jag, it gets tiresome to watch any alliance steamroll its way to finale night, and Season 25 has been stuck in that all-too-predictable rut for several weeks now. Plus, if you keep up with Big Brother‘s live feeds at all, you know that the Mafia alliance — comprised of Matt, Jag and Bowie Jane — has been displaying...

Mama Felicia or Mama Cirie: which of these fan-favorites was about to be evicted from the “Big Brother 25” house? Their downfall started when Matt Klotz won Head of Household and nominated both of them for eviction, despite telling them that Bowie Jane was his real target. But Bowie was really a part of the Final 3 “Mafia” alliance between Matt, Bowie and Jag Bains, and once Jag won the Power of Veto, it was all over for one of the two Mamas. So who ended up leaving the house in fifth place?

John Lennon worked on classic songs with both Elton John and David Bowie. John explained why he was closer to the “Rocket Man” singer than the “Space Oddity” singer. He also revealed why he played on Bowie’s cover of The Beatles’ “Across the Universe.” Fascinatingly, the former Beatle co-wrote one of Bowie’s most popular hits.

During a 1975 interview with Rolling Stone, John was asked about the aforementioned 1970s singers. “I like and respect them both,” he replied. “I’m closer to Elton because I’ve known him longer and I’ve spent more time with him.

If you’re going to make a music biopic — and with new dramatic takes on the lives of Bob Dylan, Amy Winehouse, Bob Marley and Michael Jackson on the way, it appears everyone is — you’d better secure the music rights. Making a movie purporting to tell the story of a pop music legend without first clearing rights to use the pop music that made them legendary is a recipe for box office disaster.
Remember Stardust, Gabriel Range’s 2020 David Bowie biopic starring Johnny Flynn, shot without any music from Bowie? Or Jimi: All Is By My Side (2013) directed by John Ridley with André 3000 as Jimi Hendrix playing none of his original songs? How about England Is Mine, Mark Gill’s unauthorized Morrissey biopic with Jack Lowden and Jodie Comer? Probably not. Without the sing-alone tunes, those films sank without a trace.

Wednesday was low-key as ever in the “Big Brother 25” house. Nothing significant at all except it was Cirie‘s last full day in there.
The Cirie and Felicia duo and the Jag, Matt and Bowie trio mostly stayed separated from one another, so Operation Pressure Cracker did not rear its ugly head. Is anyone shocked that these three just talk a big game? Cirie and Felicia compared notes and learned they’ve both been told they were safe, but both expected themselves to go.

The biggest development was that Felicia decided not to cook dinner for the house anymore since the Mafia has been alienating her and Cirie. She almost reneged on it before realizing how late it was, so everyone had leftover Chinese food from their Halloween party. She better hold strong for the next seven days.

Heading into the Week 13 Veto episode of “Big Brother 25,” Head of Household Matt Klotz had just nominated Cirie Fields and Felicia Cannon for eviction despite telling Cirie he would keep her safe. While things looked dire for the two houseguests nicknamed “Mama,” the Power of Veto competition could still save one of their games. So how did everything play out on Halloween night?

Big Brother Season 25 Week 13 is here after the last double eviction. America Lopez and Blue Kim headed to the jury after facing eviction, which leaves Matt Klotz, Jag Bains, Bowie Jane, Cirie Fields, and Felicia Cannon in the game. Unfortunately, it looks like reality TV queen Cirie is in trouble this week. Here’s what’s going on.
[Spoiler alert: Big Brother Season 25 Week 13 spoilers ahead.]
Cirie Fields is likely the next evicted houseguest in ‘Big Brother’ Season 25 Week 13
Trouble is likely ahead for Cirie Fields in Big Brother Season 25 Week 13. Last week, Cirie evaded eviction while Blue Kim and America Lopez got the boot and are now part of the jury. But she and Felicia Cannon are back on the block in week 13, and Matt Klotz, Jag Bains, and Bowie Jane are leaning toward evicting the Survivor alums.

When we last recorded power rankings for “Big Brother 25” it was when Matt Klotz and Jag Bains were still utilizing Cameron Hardin to their advantage under the mask of a “Fugitives” alliance in the Top 10. Since then, Matt and Jag orchestrated the eviction of Cameron and stand alone as the “Minutemen,” a two-player alliance that has ruled the late-game with an iron fist. Standing ini the way of Matt and Jag are Cirie Fields, Felicia Cannon and Bowie Jane, three players all under the impression that they’re the ideal third wheel to Matt and Jag’s plans. But with the November 9 finale night looming, only one of their plans will play out through to the end.
Below, read our third and final power rankings of the season for the Top 5 as we consider how the season will finish with only two houseguests sitting in the finale chairs in front of their jury of seven.

As planned, Jag did not use the Veto on Monday on “Big Brother 25,” so Felicia and Cirie are locked in. And then Jag, Matt and Bowie kicked off their twisted Operation Pressure Cracker.
It wasn’t just the alcohol talking Sunday night if that’s what you thought. The three of them are serious about trying to mindf— Felicia to stress her out and deprive her of sleep before Thursday’s Hoh. They’ve started ignoring her and freezing her out of conversations even though she’s been standing there for 30 minutes. But like a dog that thinks it’s bigger than it is, they’re all bark and no bite. Well, all their bite is when it’s just the three of them hanging out and bashing Felicia and Cirie. Felicia directly called out Jag for isolating her and Cirie, and he fumbled and stuttered trying to deny it...

If it wasn’t clear before, we are in the darkest timeline of “Big Brother 25.” Jag won the Veto on Saturday, his sixth one of the season and eighth comp total. Yawn.
Jag is obviously not going to use the Veto, so Felicia and Cirie will remain on the block. He and Bowie started discussing the idea of booting Cirie instead of Felicia before noms, and now that’s the plan. If you thought Matt wouldn’t go for it, well, it didn’t take much from Jag and Bowie to convince him. There was no energy from him to try to save Cirie — the complete opposite of Jag trying to talk Cameron out of backdooring Cory. Plus, even if he were against it, he doesn’t have a say in the matter since Jag and Bowie are the only ones casting votes this week. Matt is continuing to promise...

Hey, "Big Brother" fans. Happy Friday. We're back with another new, very important update from inside the Big Brother season 25 house. Just about an hour ago today, October 6, 2023, the latest eviction nomination ceremony took place, and we've got the results for it in this update/spoiler session. As we previously reported, Bowie Jane was the surprise winner of last night's latest Hoh (Head Of Household) competition. She won it during one of the rare, Live eviction episode competitions. So, she was indeed tasked with the responsibility of throwing to people on the chopping block for eviction today. There were many conversations that took place with Bowie Jane before today's nomination ceremony. Lots of names were pitched to her as to who she should possibly nominate for eviction. One of the ideas was to put up Cory and Cameron, but it turns out that Bowie had some other ideas of her...

CBS’s Big Brother Season 25 Week 10 could see a significant upset in power thanks to the Head of Household winner. In week 9, Mecole Hayes faced eviction with Cameron Hardin in charge. Mecole Hayes played a very quiet game on “Big Brother 25,” but she left the house with a bang on Thursday after she was evicted 7-0 to become the final pre-juror. Mere feet from the door, she turned and told the house that Cory, America and Bowie are in an alliance and are coming after Matt, Jag and Blue. This is not true, and no, this is not Meme’s read on the house. She just wanted to stir the pot.
“It was important to me to throw a little shade and also leave the house in a bit of a disarray on my exit,” she tells Gold Derby (watch above). “Because I know that everyone had been saying that, you know, ‘Meme doesn’t talk much game. She holds her cards so closely to her chest. We don’t know where she stands. We have no idea what she’s thinking.

Who had Bowie becoming the first female Hoh on “Big Brother 25” in seven weeks on their bingo card? Well, here we are.
It’s kind of fitting Bowie became Hoh on the same night Mecole was booted. Both had been, to borrow from Julie Chen Moonves, “low-key and invisible,” but Bowie had been casually gaming recently and building relationships with people. And now she has the power after the greatest math comp in “Bb” history. The answers of half an hour (initially) and 34 days to approximate one week will forever be iconic. Bowie has a lotta options for noms, but it sounds it’s going to be Cirie and Felicia for now.

Big Brother sent home its final pre-jury evictee on Thursday night… yet most of the episode focused on a houseguest who wasn’t even on the nomination block.
I’m referring, of course, to Cory, who was majorly targeted by Felicia’s veto meeting speech on Tuesday. Ultimately, Cameron chose not to use the Power of Veto, leaving Felicia and Mecole as the week’s nominees. But even after Cory evaded the block, all eyes remained on him and America, particularly when America confronted Felicia in front of the entire house and asserted that Felicia was the one to propose...

Heading into this week’s live eviction episode of “Big Brother 25,” joint Head of Household / Power of Veto winner Cameron Hardin had a big decision to make. Should he keep his nominations of Felicia Cannon and Mecole Hayes the same, or should he try to backdoor a big threat, Cory Wurtenberger? Whoever ends up going home tonight, they will become the final person eliminated in the pre-jury phase of this 100-day game.

Scary Week proved to be the nail in the coffin for Jared Fields on “Big Brother 25,” which left just 10 people in the house, including his bereaved mother, Cirie Fields. After the dust settled on Jared’s repeat eviction, the houseguests were informed that all of them would be playing in the impending Head of Household competition, including the most recent winner, Cory Wurtenberger. So who won Head of Household on October 1, and which two people did they nominate for eviction?

Both Sides of the Blade (Claire Denis)
In Both Sides of the Blade a romance breaks down and threatens to break up in a stylish apartment overlooking the sweet Parisian skyline. The director is of course Claire Denis, a filmmaker whose last work began in a place that looked like Eden and ended in a spaceship plummeting toward no less than a black hole. A baroque melodrama that might just maybe be a trolling farce, Both Sides of the Blade‘s concerns are of a more earthbound variety–though if the insistent strings of Tindersticks’ score are something to go by, they are of no less importance. – Rory O. When "Guardians of the Galaxy" first hit theaters in 2014, it was a surprising and massive success for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Instead of showing audiences familiar faces in a post "The Avengers" super-powered New York City, "Guardians" offered a delightfully weird, grungy, and colorful space opera that tapped into something new. Once deemed "the riskiest Marvel film since 'Iron Man,'" it turned Chris Pratt from supporting funnyman to Hollywood leading man, gave Zoe Saldaña yet another prolific sci-fi role, and its '70s needle drops led to one of the best-selling movie soundtracks in history.
Most notably, however, the "Guardians" franchise transformed James Gunn's career from indie director to one of the most important figures in the comic book movie industry to date. After a conservative smear-campaign in 2018, Gunn was famously fired from directing "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3" in a reactive move from Disney corporate.

In honor of the late David Bowie, the people over at Screen Junkies have applied their talents to the wonderfully weird world of 1986's Labyrinth. You know, that place with super young Jennifer Connelly, farts, Muppet rejects, and Rocket Raccoon's ancestors? Yep, that place, which was also somehow home to part of the perpetual awesomeness that is Bowie (as one YouTube commenter pointed out, Bowie was so awesome there he found Waldo before it was even cool to find Waldo). Anyway, enjoy.

After the tragic news of the passing of music icon David Bowie, "Guardians of the Galaxy" director James Gunn took to his Facebook to post how the singer/songwriter influenced him in his youth and revealed that Bowie was actually up for a cameo role in Marvel Studios' "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2."
Gunn wrote:
"Just a very short while ago Kevin Feige and I were talking about a cameo role in Guardians Vol. 2, and he brought up Bowie's name. I told him nothing in the world would make me happier, but I heard from common friends he wasn't doing well. We heard back that he was okay and it could potentially happen. Who knows what that was about? But, for whatever reason, it made my Twitter revelation more of a surprise."

We talk to the director of Guardians Of The Galaxy about working with Marvel, 70s music, and the mysterious end credits stinger...
Having made his name as an indie writer and director, James Gunn was given the reins to Guardians Of The Galaxy, Marvel's first new cinematic property since 2011's Captain America. Although seen as an uncertain prospect, Guardians has received almost universally positive praise.
We caught up with Gunn to get his thoughts about adapting the Marvel Universe, listening to 1970s pop music, and what Star Wars has to do with Guardians Of The Galaxy.
So, the reviews came in last night. I assume you've had time to at least glanced at them?
I've looked fleetingly at them. I know the gist.
Pleased?
It's great! I don't know, it's weird. It's uncomfortable. I'm excited that people go to see the movie and like it. But reading reviews is weird for me.
