When the film "Bless Me, Ultima" was filming in Abiquiu, NM he took a nephew to an audition. However, Ray was asked to audition himself and he was hired as background and portrayed a farmer in the film. He continued to work as a permit specialist with films such as "2 Guns", "Appaloosa", "Brothers", "Hostiles", and "Jane Got a Gun". Ray was able to meet some of the actors such as Jack Black, Viggo Mortensen, and Ed Harris. Ray has taken a few acting classes and continues to audition periodically. He has done background and short films but is focused on auditioning for speaking roles. In addition to film projects, Ray has done television and print projects too. He was also cast in a local commercial that was filmed in Spanish regarding the use of tobacco and alcohol. Ray's passion is period and western films. He enjoys challenges of using certain props in films such as pistols and period tools. One of his favorite experiences was being able to ride a horse during a couple months of filming which required a lot of patience.
