Exclusive: In the second whopping film pitch package deal of the day, Amazon and MGM Studios won Best of Enemies, an adaptation of the spy thriller that will star Bradley Cooper and Christian Bale, with Eric Warren Singer scripting and Atlas Entertainment’s Charles Roven producing. They all worked together on the 2013 Best Picture nominee American Hustle.
Cooper, drawing raves for his latest directing outing Maestro, is a possible to direct the film, but that hasn’t been settled yet.
Sources said that, like the untitled Ryan Reynolds pitch that was won by Netflix today, Best of Enemies had eight bidders in the mix, with Amazon and Warner Bros going down to the wire. The deal is high-seven figures for the writer and producer. It will be a theatrical release.

The American Hustle co-stars are reportedly set to appear in Best Of Enemies, a new project which several studios are said to be interested in.
David O Russell’s American Hustle came out almost a decade ago, marking the last time we saw Christian Bale and Bradley Cooper share the screen. In the years since, Bale has continued to build the kind of diverse filmography that we’ve come to expect from the British actor, inhabiting roles that range from controversial politician Dick Cheney to biblical legend, Moses.
Bradley Cooper meanwhile has spent the same period working with high-profile directors such as Paul Thomas Anderson, Clint Eastwood and Guillermo del Toro, as well as making his own name as a filmmaker, first with 2018’s A Star Is Born and also with this year’s Maestro.
According to Hollywood reporter Jeff Sneider, the duo are set to share the screen again...

CBS News is expanding its podcast profile, giving the green light to a new series exploring the story of Robert Hanssen, the FBI agent who infamously leaked sensitive information to Russia for more than two decades.
The still-untitled eight episode series from CBS and Paramount Audio will debut in the fall, and is led by CBS News chief Washington correspondent Major Garrett, who also hosts the weekly podcast The Takeout.
“How does the nation handle its most sensitive secrets? It’s a question we’ve wrestled with for decades but is especially relevant today,” Garrett says. “Everything about Robert Hanssen fascinates me — how he escaped detection for 22 years, the depth of his betrayals, how he was caught and, most elusive of all, why he did it. Chasing these answers has taken two years and I can’t wait to share this extraordinary story with our listeners.”

“Anamorphic is How the World Looks When Donald Trump Becomes President”: Billy Ray on The Comey Rule

America once used the words “treason” and “traitors” only in cases of actual betrayal of our nation’s most vital secrets or interests. They were profound words, deep with meaning, grim in import, carrying with them the knowledge that the penalty for treason was death.
Be honest: The words “traitor” and “treason” don’t have the sting they once had; they’ve been devalued from mis- and over-use by this president. For Donald Trump, any opposition, either personal, ideological, or political is treason. Anyone who stands in his path betrays the Great Leader.
