Jason White — the former Music Director of the massive West Angeles Church, who now oversees the choir at Kanye West’s Sunday Service events — was nudged towards a career as musician when he was just four years old.
“Every day I would rush home to play on the piano, and it would sound like noise,” White recalls. “But early one morning, I got up, my grandmother was in the kitchen, I went to the sun porch, and I started picking out this song on the piano — a hymn called ‘At the Cross.

Thomas Rhett looks back fondly on the vehicle that transported him into adulthood in “That Old Truck,” the latest release from his upcoming album Center Point Road. The follow-up to Rhett’s 2017 release Life Changes, Center Point Road will be available May 31st.
A gentle, mostly acoustic number that veers off from the dance-inflected country-pop of Rhett’s current single “Look What God Gave Her,” “That Old Truck” — penned by Rhett with Julian Bunetta, Kamron Kimbro and Ryan Tedder — offers up a series of vivid snapshots from Rhett’s coming of age.

Cardi B and Bruno Mars released their standalone single “Please Me” on Valentine’s Day (listen to it above), and it has debuted in the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart in its first week of release. Can it get them to number-one? Their previous collaboration, “Finesse,” spent several weeks in the top 10 in 2018, but it could never quite reach the top. It peaked at number-three. Will they improve on that result this time around?
This R&B come-on was written by Cardi B and Mars along with James Fauntleroy, Jonathan Yip, Ray Romulus, Jeremy Reeves and Ray McCullough II. NME writer Rhian Daly describes the song as “a mix of modern and classic — a smooth slow jam with trap stylings.” But Pitchfork writer Michelle Kim is more critical, saying that “the duo doesn’t make as much sense together” as they did last year on “Finesse,” and “Cardi...

In 2005, Mariah Carey released the biggest hit of that decade, an indelible piano ballad titled “We Belong Together.” At the time, a young Ray Romulus was serving as personal assistant to the writer-producer Jermaine Dupri, who had a hand in four songs on Carey’s best-seller The Emancipation of Mimi, including “We Belong Together.” “I would be around Mariah all the time,” Romulus remembers. “We would fly to Mexico to her house and kick it.”
So “it was definitely full circle” when he met Carey again recently, this time as...

The nominees are in for the 60th Annual Grammy Awards, and music's biggest night will feature some of your favorite artists ...though some were snubbed.
Singer-songwriter Andra Day announced the four major categories -- Best New Artist, Record Of The Year, Song Of The Year, and Album Of The Year -- on Tuesday's CBS This Morning.
As far as snubs go, Ed Sheeran was only nominated for Best Pop Solo Performance for his track, "Shape of You," to the shock of many of his fans. Lady Gaga and Kesha also received minimal nominations, despite the popularity of their albums.
However, Jay-Z and Kendrick Lamar earned quite a few Grammy nods, as well as Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee's "Despacito" song that features Justin Bieber.
