Ray Winstone ("The Departed), Michael Smiley ("Kill List") and Johnny Harris ("Monsters: Dark Continent") have joined an untitled British boxing drama project set up at Independent and BBC Films.
Thomas Napper helms the project in which Harris will play a man at the end of his rope who turns to his childhood boxing club and the only family he has left - gym owner Bill (Winstone) and cornerman Eddie (Smiley). Back in training, he will risk his life to stand tall and regain his place in the world.
The project is based on the experiences of Harris who penned the script. The Jam frontman Paul Weller is set to score the feature (his first) and filming begins February/March.
Former boxing champion Barry McGuigan is a consultant on the film which Mike Elliott will produce.
