- Victor Starffin was born Victor Konstantinovich Starukhin on May 1, 1916 and passed away on January 12, 1957. Nicknamed "the blue-eyed Japanese" (aoi-me no Nihonjin) Victor was an ethnic Russian baseball player in Japan and the first professional pitcher in Japan to win 300 games. With 83 career shutouts, he ranks number one all-time in Japanese professional baseball. While living in Japan his fame eventually led him to experiment with acting in a brief stint in films.
