Donald Trump’s attorneys recently argued in court that the former president should be shielded from all criminal prosecution — even if they order the assassination of a political opponent. While no president has yet to test that bold legal theory, Trump and his Maga allies are now baselessly attempting to accuse Joe Biden of authorizing the assassination of Trump during the FBI’s 2022 raid of Mar-a-Lago.
Documents unsealed Tuesday revealed that more classified material was found at the former president’s Palm Beach estate after the FBI’s August 2022 raid.

Frost Vark Titan in ‘Monarch: Legacy of Monsters’ episode 4 (Photo Credit: Apple TV+)
Apple TV+’s Monarch: Legacy of Monsters episode four begins with a woman sunbathing in the middle of nowhere as the wind kicks up and some sort of equipment inside her camper begins beeping. It’s Utah in 2015, and the woman’s name is Barnes. She’s monitoring Outpost 47 and did not expect an old, dusty piece of equipment to spring back to life.
Barnes is part of Monarch and demands to speak to Assistant Director Verdugo. Once connected to the big boss, Barnes reports that she’s seeing radiation, specifically gamma rays, similar to supermassive black holes in outer space. The old piece of equipment seems to indicate the source is in Alaska.
Verdugo’s about to cut off the video call when Barnes warns that the last time there were readings like this was right before G-Day.

Prominent Los Angeles County politician Mark Ridley-Thomas was sentenced today to three years and six months in prison for voting in support of county contracts that would favor USC while accepting benefits for his son from the university.
“This was a shakedown,” prosecutors wrote in sentencing papers. See the Justice Department’s recap of the case below.
“Not the kind in movies with bags of cash or threats of force. But the kind that is polite and pervasive. The kind that happens too often by sophisticated, powerful people. The kind to which society, sadly, has become so accustomed that it often goes unreported and rarely yields consequences for the offender but strikes a devastating blow to the integrity of our democratic system.”

Spoiler Alert: This story contains plot points from the final two episodes of The Blacklist.
The Blacklist ended its 10-season run on NBC Thursday with James Spader’s Raymond Reddington successfully eluding the authorities for good.
Before the decision was made to end the Sony drama earlier this year, The Blacklist was a reliable utility player and performer for the network, despite having occupied 10 different time slots over its 10 seasons. It also underwent a major transition after Season 8 when both its female lead Megan Boone and creator Jon Bokenkamp departed. But the fans stuck around; Season 9 reached 29.1M viewers, more than doubling its rating in the 18-49 demographic and its total audience in Live+35 vs. same-day data.
Season 10 kicked off in March with Reddington confronting “unparalleled danger” because former Blacklisters were uniting against him in a lethal desire for revenge. The two-hour series finale began with Reddington on the lam,...

Alec Baldwin has officially been charged with involuntary manslaughter in the fatal shooting of Rust cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.
Charges were formally filed against Baldwin and armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, who both face two counts of involuntary manslaughter, on Tuesday after Santa Fe District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies announced criminal charges against both on Jan. 19.
Notably, prosecutors charged Baldwin as both an actor and producer for Rust.
As an actor, Baldwin should’ve assumed the gun he was handling was loaded with live rounds and known that “the first rule of gun safety is never to point a gun at someone you don’t intend on shooting,” reads a statement of probable cause. He also neglected to undergo “required firearms training prior to the commencement of filming,” even “after [Gutierrez-Reed] requested more training.”

Updated: Alec Baldwin’s Attorney Luke Nikas of Quinn Emanuel has responded to the recent news from Santa Fe District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies, who in a Aug. 30 letter, requested the New Mexico Board of Finance for 635K to prosecute as many as four individuals with criminal and homicide charges.
The Da said in her letter that “one of the possible defendants is well known movie actor Alec Baldwin.” This has spurred the media to “draw false conclusions,” says the Oscar nominee’s attorney. As previously reported, Carmack-Altwies’ received 317,750 to proceed with her charging in the Rust tragedy.
“During my communications with the Da’s office just a few weeks ago, after the August 30 funding request was submitted, I was told that it would be premature to discuss the case because they had not yet reviewed the file or deliberated about their charging decision,” said Nikas referring to the Da’s note to the finance board.

Two Floridians pleaded guilty in New York’s Southern District court to transporting the diary they stole from President Joe Biden’s daughter Ashley in Florida shortly before the 2020 election to New York, where they were each paid $20,000 for it by the right-wing media group Project Veritas.
Prosecutors said that Project Veritas even asked Aimee Harris and Robert Kurlander to return to Biden’s home in order to pilfer more materials for the organization. They agreed before meeting with a representative from Project Veritas in Florida to hand over additional stolen items.

The FBI concluded in a forensic report that the gun used to kill cinematographer Halyna Hutchins in October 2021 on the set of Alec Baldwin‘s “Rust” film couldn’t have been fired without someone first pulling the trigger.
In the forensic report, obtained by ABC News, the federal law agency said its accidental discharge testing determined the gun used in the shooting — a .45 colt caliber F.lli Pietta single-action revolver — couldn’t have gone off without the trigger being pulled.

Mere hours after the first of what is expected to be many lawsuits was filed over the fatal shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins by Alec Baldwin on the set of Rust last month, the main lawyers for one of the crew members at the center of the police investigation have turned up the volume on their sabotage theory.

Hours after a charged Today appearance by her lawyers postulating that the October 21 fatal shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins by Alec Baldwin may have been the result of “sabotage,” Rust armorer Hannah Gutierrez Reed is now pouring fuel on the still theoretical fire.
“Never in a million years did Hannah think that live rounds could have been in the ‘dummy’ Round box,” said the latest statement from the crew member at the center of the deepening police probe of what went so terribly wrong on the $7 million budgeted Western. “Who put those in there and why is the central question,” added the comments released in Gutierrez Reed’s name through the office of criminal defense attorney Jason Bowles.
“Hannah did everything in her power to ensure a safe set. She inspected the rounds that she loaded into the firearms that day,” the second such statement from the armorer in as...

Updated with video, 7:55 Am: The attorneys for Rust armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, who is being investigated by the Santa Fe Sheriff’s department in the wake of Dp Halyna Hutchins’ death from a prop gun discharged by Alec Baldwin, told NBC’s Today this morning that they’re looking into whether a live bullet was placed in a box of dummy rounds with the intent of “sabotaging the set.”
“I believe that somebody who would do that would want to sabotage the set, want to prove a point, want to say that they’re disgruntled, they’re unhappy,” Gutierrez-Reed’s attorney Jason Bowles told Today. “And we know that people had walked off the set the day before.” He did not specifically naming the cameramen who quit the set over complaints about housing accommodations.
Bowles added, “I think you can’t rule anybody out at this point.”

Lawyering up with a former Assistant U.S. Attorney after being called out in public by Santa Fe’s sheriff, the Rust armorer at the center of the tragic accident that saw cinematographer Halyna Hutchins fatally shot has spoken out for the first time.
Disputing tales of after-hours target practice with weapons used for the film, Rust armorer Hannah Gutierrez’s lawyers on Thursday also confirmed that two weapons were accidentally discharged on the troubled Bonanza Creek Ranch set of Rust before the accident October 21
“Safety is Hannah’s number on priority on set,” said attorneys Jason Bowles and Robert Gorence in a statement released late tonight. “Ultimately this set would never have been compromised if live ammo were not introduced. Hannah has no idea where the live rounds came from.”
“Hannah still, to this day, has never had an accidental discharge,” her lawyers claim in their statement tonight.
