Exclusive: Amazon’s UK content arm, which is behind series such as Clarkson’s Farm and The Rig, is saying goodbye to its boss.
Dan Grabiner, who is Head of UK Originals, UK & Northern Europe, Amazon Studios – Prime Video UK, will leave the company in mid-October. Amazon confirmed his exit to Deadline today and staff were informed this morning.
Grabiner is set to launch his own production business, according to an internal note from Amazon Head of International Originals James Farrell seen by Deadline.
Tara Erer, who is currently Head of Local Original Movies for Amazon Studios, will step into Grabiner’s role. She has been with the Local Originals team for four years, leading a centralized global team on films such as Culpa Mia, Sayen and Argentina 1985.

Initial has hired Fulwell 73’s Director of Development Caroline Roseman, as the Banijay indie gears up to return Big Brother to British screens.
Roseman takes on newly created role of Creative Director, Development, reporting to Managing Director Katy Manley.
Her hire comes after Deadline revealed Cat Lynch was exiting her Joint Managing Director role at Initial to join Dan Grabiner’s Amazon Studios team in the UK.
It also comes as Initial readies one of the biggest projects in UK television right now – reality competition format Big Brother’s return, this time to Love Island network ITV2. The show has played on both Channel 4 and Channel 5 in the past in the UK but hasn’t been on air since 2018, though Initial did make two specials for Channel 4 during the pandemic in 2020.

Original Series Development Executive Thomas Drachkovitch is exiting after seven years in Amazon’s bases in cities such as LA, Mumbai and London, where he worked on the likes of Call My Agent! UK adaptation Ten Percent and Three Pines from The Crown producer Left Bank.
Deadline understands Drachkovitch’s contract at Amazon had come to an end and has not been renewed. He will remain in London but it’s not yet known what his next move will be.
While at Amazon Studios, he focused on developing scripted, unscripted and films in local languages. He was most recently based in India, where he helped Amazon Studios launch its debut original series, which received the country’s first-ever Emmy nominations.

John Wick prequel series The Continental, which is slated for 2023 debut, will be housed internationally on Prime Video in all territories Amazon’s streaming service is available except Israel and the Middle East.
In the U.S., The Continental, produced by Lionsgate Television, will launch on Peacock after it moved from Starz to the NBCU streamer earlier this year. A group of international aristocrats and a “royally connected” American are set to star in a six-part reality series for MTV’s international networks. The Viacom-owned broadcaster has ordered The Royal World from Big Brother producer Initial to air in nearly 180 countries outside of the U.S.
The show will see a group of young royals and aristocrats from the UK, Russia, Austria, Nigeria and Ireland live together in a British countryside mansion. MTV has not yet revealed casting.
It will explore the lives of the pedigreed and privileged twenty somethings and will also have inside access to the cast’s lavish family homes and elite circles. MTV International hopes to take advantage of the current clamber for royal-themed programming following Meghan Markle’s marriage to Prince Harry.
