With a background in journalism and art, B.R. Stanley left a successful
career with Gannett Newspapers, Inc. to complete an MFA at USC's School
of Cinematic Arts after receiving a Courtney Ross Fellowship. A
compulsive writer, Stanley's screenplays consistently finished in the
finals of most major screenwriting competitions. The offspring of a
"first responder," Stanley grew up with cops, firemen, EMTs and other
real-life action heroes. Stanley's scripts often feature
culturally-diverse protagonists, normal people in extraordinary
situations with an emphasis on strong female characters. Stanley's
worked on several dramatic television shows such as the short-lived
television series "In the Mix," and others, including several PBS shows
in various capacities.
Like George Clooney, Johnny Depp, Tom Cruise, Jennifer Lawrence, Jerry Bruickheimer and others, Stanley is a Kentucky native.
