Johnny Depp is headed back to the stand next week, as ex-wife Amber Heard’s legal team plans to re-call him as a witness, a person with knowledge of the situation told TheWrap.
Other potential witnesses on deck include former Depp girlfriend Ellen Barkin on videoconference, and Heard’s sister Whitney Henrique, who will appear in court, the person said.
The exact timing of the witness’ appearances was not immediately clear. The trial has been recessed all this week, and resumes Monday; Heard was still being questioned by Depp’s team when court was adjourned for the long break.
Heard wrapped up last week’s testimony with multiple harrowing accounts of alleged abuse at the hands of Depp, who has denied ever once hitting her or any other woman. Depp is suing his ex-wife for 50 million, saying her Washington Post op-ed defamed him and cost him his career; Heard is counter-suing for 100 million.

Johnny Depp concluded his fourth day of testimony Monday, opening the door for his former house manager, Ben King, to take the stand in the actor’s defamation trial against ex-wife Amber Heard in Fairfax, Virginia.
On Monday afternoon, King offered his take on the couple’s marriage, describing it as explosive. King said he managed Depp’s London townhouse in 2014, while the actor filmed “Mortdecai.” He was also assigned to the home Depp and Heard shared in Australia in March 2015, during the filming of “Pirates of the Caribbean” 5.
King told the court he was in Australia when Depp’s fingertip was severed during a fight with Heard. When he arrived at the house, King said he could hear “hysterical sobbing” from Heard.
He noticed smashed and cracked walls, broken windows, chunks of marble missing from the staircase and bar, broken glass, a cracked TV with a coffee mug stuck inside,...

ABC News has put a top executive on administrative leave after a HuffPost investigation alleged she had a pattern of making insensitive and racist remarks.
Following publication of the story Saturday morning, ABC announced that Barbara Fedida, senior vice president of talent, editorial strategy and business affairs for the network, has been placed on leave while the claims are investigated.
Among other duties, Fedida oversaw newsroom inclusion and was responsible for hiring and developing network anchors and correspondents. According to Yashar Ali’s report in HuffPost, Fedida’s alleged misconduct has led the network to spend millions of dollars in confidential settlements with former talent and staff. That includes at least one settlement related to allegations of racial discrimination, Ali reported.
A spokesperson for ABC News said, “There are deeply disturbing allegations in this story that we need to investigate, and we have placed Barbara Fedida on administrative leave while...

Director Lynn Shelton’s collaborator and romantic partner Marc Maron has issued a statement on her death, saying doctors tried hard to save her.
“She collapsed yesterday morning after having been ill for a week,” Maron said. “There was a previously unknown, underlying condition. It was not Covid 19. The doctors could not save her. They tried. Hard.
“I loved her very much as I know many of you did as well. It’s devastating. I am leveled, heartbroken and in complete shock and don’t really know how to move forward in this moment. I needed you all to know. I don’t know some of you. Some I do. I’m just trying to let the people who were important to her know.
“She was a beautiful, kind, loving, charismatic artist. Her spirit was pure joy. She made me happy. I made her happy. We were happy. I made her laugh all the time.

The Razzie Awards ceremony, the Golden Raspberry Foundation’s annual skewering of the worst in cinema, was scheduled for tonight at the Barnsdall Theatre in Los Angeles. But the event is either “cancelled/postponed,” according to a statement from the producers.
The reason? “Because the Mayor of Los Angeles shut down all city-owned venues where more than 50 people could gather, including our site, The Barnsdall Theatre,” said the statement from John Wilson, co-founder of the awards. “Without a hall, we could not proceed with the show. But we are hoping to have something to disseminate by tonight – Perhaps even by what had been our original “curtain time” of 8 p.m. tonight. Obviously, if there is no live show, there is nothing to be streamed, either.”

(Updated with Chicago Pd statement) Breaking: The focus of the Chicago Police Department’s probe into the alleged assault of Jussie Smollett almost three weeks ago has shifted – to the Empire star himself.
“The new direction of the investigation is now based on the premise that Mr. Smollett was an active participant in the incident,” a law enforcement source close to the situation told Deadline today.
“We can confirm that the information received from the individuals questioned by police earlier in the Empire case has in fact shifted the trajectory of the investigation,” a Chicago Pd statement late Saturday declared. “We’ve reached out to the ‘Empire’ cast member’s attorney to request a follow-up interview.”
Lawyers for Smollett have been contacted by law enforcement in the last several hours. In anticipation of such requests, the Empire star has in recent days retained attorneys Victor P. Henderson and Todd Pugh.

Jennifer Lopez performed a tribute to Motown at the Grammys Sunday night, and a large number of Twitter users were not feeling the choice.
For starters, there was general confusion over why a woman of Puerto Rican descent was selected to highlight the music of (and record label populated by) predominantly black artists. And then there were the backing vocals and the salsa dancing. Neither of those choices went over particularly well with many social media users.
“They really got JLo lip syncing Motown’s finest songs like there’s not 1000 black women with R&B vocals ready for this moment,” a BuzzFeed News host wrote.

“J. Lo had a ghost Singer, bro,” another verified account posted. “Like, the absolute audacity of everyone who brought that tribute to life.”
Below are a few unfavorable reactions from Twitter’s blue-check community.
