Exclusive: Netflix has picked up UK rights to Kaur, a short film that debuted last year on British streamers Itvx and BritBox.
The film is set to drop on Netflix in the second window on May 3 following the deal for film, which is from Parvinder Shergill and Juggy Sohal. Shergill stars opposite Stephen Uppal (Hollyoaks).
Kaur bills itself as “the first film in history” to follow the story of a British Sikh woman (Shergill), who decides to wear a turban for the first time against her father’s wishes. Her mother (Nina Wadia), is supportive of the decision, but struggles with the tensions it causes.
A full-length feature film version is in development, Shergill told Deadline, with her Pinder Productions and Sohal’s Flip The Script Network attached, the same production set-up as the short. Shergill, who along with filmmaking is an NHS doctor, will again play the lead role,...

ITV boss Carolyn McCall has detailed the potential for a post-strike “blip” as commissioning conversations are restarted with U.S. buyers, while the head of ITV Studios described generative AI as a “co-pilot for creatives.”
Speaking after the publication of ITV’s full-year results, which saw profits tumble by 32% amidst a tricky ad market, McCall said a factor “never really talked about” in relation to last year’s months-long U.S. labor strikes is that “commissioning conversations could not happen and we were not allowed to pitch ideas or discuss anything that would build a pipeline.”
“This is never really talked about but is also quite an important factor in the market,” she said, adding that the more obvious impact of the strike physically delaying productions had been prominent in discussions.

Exclusive: Bodhi Talent, the UK talent agency accused of sending clients fake auditions and paying actors late, has filed for closure.
The company, which boasted clients including soap stars Emma Rigby (Hollyoaks) and Nicola Stapleton (EastEnders), has applied to the UK’s Companies House to be dissolved.
It follows a Deadline exposé on Bodhi earlier this month, in which former clients alleged that they were sent illegitimate invites to record self-tape auditions. Others said the firm broke UK agency regulations by withholding payments.
Bodhi founder Archie Purnell denied wrongdoing, but did not respond to any specific allegations and has not replied to any Deadline communication since February 7.
Bodhi may not be able to proceed with its planned closure if an objection is raised to the strike-off by people owed money by the agency. Creditors have two months to object and must provide documentary evidence to support their claim.

Exclusive: A British talent agent, who has worked with soap stars including Emma Rigby and Helen Flanagan, has been accused of professional misconduct by six former clients.
Archie Purnell, founder of Manchester-based Bodhi Talent, has supplied actors to major productions for Netflix, the BBC, and ITV, but is facing claims he misled clients in a bid to bolster his standing in the industry.
Deadline has uncovered a series of allegations about the agent, including that he has sent actors illegitimate briefs for self-tape auditions, broke regulations on payment deadlines, and failed to observe industry best practice in contracts. Bodhi is currently at risk of being struck off the UK Companies House register for filing its accounts late.
UK agents are regulated by the state-backed Employment Agency Standards Inspectorate, but complaints against entertainment agencies are rare because actors worry that it could damage their careers. Most major agencies, such as UTA-owned Curtis Brown,...

Warning: contains Spoilers for Doctor Who episode “The Star Beast” and several modern Doctor Who episodes
The internet is still whirring after that explosive first episode of the three Doctor Who 60th anniversary specials, with the return of David Tennant as the Fourteenth Doctor and his beloved ex-companion Donna Noble (Catherine Tate).
There was certainly a lot to take in: “The Star Beast” saw an alien spaceship crash-landing in London, the arrival of the adorably fluffy Meep and sinister, bug-eyed Wrarth Warriors, the return of Unit (the international intelligence taskforce that investigates alien activity), and the very real threat that if Donna remembers who The Doctor is, she’ll die.
We also met Donna’s family, including her husband Shaun and daughter Rose, whom we eventually learn has genetically absorbed some of the metacrisis that threatened Donna’s life, subconsciously giving her some of The Doctor and Donna’s memories.

Almost seven years to the day since it began, we’re about to give a royal wave of farewell to Netflix drama The Crown, but series six might be its most eye-opening yet, as its first part (out on November 16) deals with the events surrounding the tragic death of Princess Diana.
Some critics’ hackles might be up already after the show previously attracted condemnation for historical inaccuracies, so it will be especially interesting to see how the show covers such an emotive and important event in royal history, and just where the story ends when the final episodes are released on 14th December.
Even so, many fans will be disappointed not to see more recent events get The Crown treatment, like that Prince Andrew interview and Harry and Meghan’s very public royal uncoupling, but is it so far beyond the realms of possibility that the show might have a...

As questions remain about what will be on The CW next season, the network has saved a canceled cable drama.
According to Deadline, the Nexstar-owned network has picked up 61st Street.
The Courtney B. Vance and Aunjanue Ellis drama series was canceled at AMC earlier this year, despite all second season episodes being in the can.
At the time, the reason for the cancellation was part of a cost-cutting measure, which found the network canceling a plethora of shows that had previously landed renewals.
The cast of 61st Street is rounded out by Holt McCallany, Tosin Cole, Andrene Ward-Hammond, and Bentley Green.
61st Street was initially picked up with a two-season order on AMC, with the second season being shot back-to-back with the first.
As a result, the entire second season had been filmed, meaning that finding another outlet for the show wouldn't be as tough.

The Dead Boy Detectives have a new home: The forthcoming DC drama, from prolific executive producer Greg Berlanti, is moving to Netflix from HBO Max, sources tell The Hollywood Reporter.
The site reports that the shift was made because the series no longer fits with DC executives James Gunn and Peter Safran’s new plans for the DC comic book movie and TV universe, which is set to include five inter-connected shows that will accompany HBO Max’s Peacemaker. Additionally, the Warner Bros. Discovery-owned streamer would not have been able to market Dead Boy Detectives until 2024, all of which...

The trend of canceling projects in production continues to haunt fans of content providers in the U.S.
According to Variety, the embattled AMC has canceled 61st Street Season 2 and Invitation to a Bonfire.
The cancellations come as AMC is in belt-tightening mode, much like several other companies.
The news for 61st Street comes after production on the second season is completed, which is even more aggravating for fans of the series who invested time in the first season.
As you will likely recall, the drama series was picked up for two seasons when it landed a formal order in 2019.
The first season aired in 2022 but didn't perform as well as expected.
However, AMC shared first-look photos for the second season following the first season finale.
The series starred Emmy®-winner Courtney B. Vance (The People v. O. J. Simpson: American Crime Story, Lovecraft Country), Emmy®-nominee Aunjanue Ellis (When They See Us,...

I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! runner up Owen Warner was surprised by his family in Australia – and his reaction was brilliant.
The final of the ITV series on Sunday (27 November) saw the Hollyoaks star finish in second place, with former footballer Jill Scott crowned the Queen of the Jungle.
Posting on Warner’s Instagram Stories before the actor was reunited with his phone, Warner’s brothers Jake and Louie revealed to their sibling’s followers that they had arrived in Australia and dressed up as rangers in a bid to surprise him.
“We’re gonna sneak out and have a photo with him in disguise, and see if he recognises us,” says one of the siblings in a video. “He has no idea we’re in Australia. It’s gonna be mad.”

Mike Tindall, a former rugby player who is married to Zara Phillips, surprised his fellow I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! campmates by revealing what his first jobs were.
On Saturday night’s episode of the ITV series talk between contestants Tindall, Boy George, Seann Walsh and Owen Warner turned to first jobs while they were all at the creek.
Tindall said: “What was your first job?”
Culture Club singer Boy George said: “Kicked out of school at 15, worked in a fruit factory for three weeks packing apples. Worked in Tesco filling the shelves.”
Commedian Walsh in the Bush Telegraph said: “Boy George worked in Tesco, can you imagine? [Doing an impression of Boy George he continued:] ‘I’m not stocking the bread, why should I f***ing stock the bread, you stock the bread. Every little helps… no it doesn’t.’”
Boy George added: “I worked at a hat shop for about four years.

The line-up for the 2022 series of I’m a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! has certainly made headlines this year – but how much are the stars getting paid?
A number of big names are camping out in the Australian jungle to compete for the crown, with the production returning to its usual locale after two Covid-struck years in Gwrych Castle, Wales.
In what is perhaps the most sensational piece of I’m a Celeb casting for years, Conservative MP Matt Hancock has been drafted into the jungle as a surprise addition.
Other celebrities competing this year include Culture Club singer Boy George, DJ Chris Moyles and ex-footballer Jill Scott.
One of the questions frequently asked about I’m a Celebrity concerns the fees celebrities get paid to take part – which can vary wildly from person to person.
While ITV doesn’t disclose details of how much contestants are paid,...

British ex-health secretary Matt Hancock has joined the latest season of ITV hit reality show I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!, with the Conservative Party suspending him as a member of parliament as a result.
Party managers said the representative of West Suffolk’s decision to appear on the show while parliament is sitting led them to suspend his party affiliation, forcing him to serve in parliament as an independent. His party affiliation may or may not be restored in the future.
“Mr. Hancock will swap representing his constituents at Westminster for eating bugs in the jungle,” the BBC reported. It also cited Andy Drummond, deputy chairman of the West Suffolk Conservative Association, as saying he was looking forward to seeing the former government minister “eating a kangaroo’s penis”.

I’m a Celebrity 2022 is a matter of weeks away, and the first contestants are seemingly being revealed.
This year’s series will be extra special for viewers considering it’s been 20 years since DJ Tony Blackburn was crowned King of the Jungle in the iTV reality show’s first ever run.
To mark the occasion, a selection of ex-contestants are currently filming an All Stars edition of the show in South Africa, which won’t be broadcast until 2023. (Find out who’s rumoured to be taking part here).
Before that, though, there’s the small matter of the main show – and fans are now wondering who will be appearing following the release of a first trailer on ITV on Friday (7 October).
Excitingly, Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly have confirmed the series will return to the Australian jungle – and a launch date has reportedly been set for Sunday 6 November.

One of the biggest box office bombs of the 2010s is getting a sequel in the form of "R.I.P.D. 2: Rise of the Damned." Yes, really, and we even have a trailer to prove that nobody is having their leg pulled. The folks at Universal Pictures thought there might be enough of an audience for this, nearly a decade after the original Ryan Reynolds and Jeff Bridges two-hander lost a boatload of money (to the point where Reynolds re-thought his entire career). And they even got an actual known actor to take on the lead role in the form of Jeffrey Donovan ("Burn Notice").
Now, it is really important to point out that this is a direct-to-video sequel, meaning they presumably spent a whole lot less money on it. That is just about the only way in which a sequel to a bomb this big makes any sense.

Exclusive: Maddie Ziegler and Schitt’s Creek Star Emily Hampshire are to lead Bloody Hell, a coming-of-age “traumedy” from Mary Goes Round director Molly McGlynn.
Principal photography kicked off in Canada last week on the feature, which follows 16-year-old Lindy (Ziegler), who is unexpectedly diagnosed with a reproductive condition that upends her plans to have sex, presumptions about womanhood and relationship with her mother (Hampshire).
The film is semi-autobiographical for McGlynn, who was diagnosed with Mrkh Syndrome when she was 16. She was subsequently behind critically-acclaimed 2017 feature Mary Goes Round and has helmed episodes of the likes of Grace and Frankie and Bless this Mess.
“It took me several years to scrape together the courage to write this script,” said McGlynn. “I knew Maddie was the perfect person to capture the nuance and complexity of this confusing, emotionally overwhelming and in hindsight, absurd, time in my adolescent life.”

I would love to say that prejudice is confined to the past, but as we see on a daily basis it is still rampant today. If there is one seemingly unbreakable connection to our ancestors is our ability to be intolerant. Airing Mondays at 9/8c, the CW drama follows 4,400 overlooked, undervalued, or otherwise marginalized people who vanished without a trace over the last hundred years and are all returned in an instant, having not aged a day and with no memory of what happened to them.

Exclusive: Callum Kerr (Hulu’s Four Weddings and a Funeral) and Kevin Cahoon (Glow) are set for heavily recurring roles opposite Susan Sarandon, Anna Friel, Trace Adkins and Beth Ditto in Fox’s upcoming musical drama Monarch.
Created by Melissa London Hilfers, Monarch is described as a Texas-sized, multigenerational musical drama about America’s first family of country music, the Romans. The Romans are headed by the insanely talented, but tough as nails Queen of Country Music Dottie Cantrell Roman (Sarandon). Along with her beloved husband Albie (Adkins), Dottie has created a country music dynasty. But even though the Roman name is synonymous with authenticity, the very foundation of their success is a lie. And when their reign as country royalty is put in jeopardy, heir to the crown Nicolette “Nicky” Roman (Friel) will stop at nothing to protect her family’s legacy, while ensuring her own quest for stardom.

Stars: Emily Wyatt, Tamaryn Payne, Naomi Willow, David English, Ian Champion, Jon Glasgow, Emma Spurgin Hussey, Rory Wilton | Written and Directed by David Creed
Sacrilege begins with a man running screaming from a darkened house. He fumbles with his car keys as his body begins to smoke and then burst into flames. He stumbles towards a pond only to collapse in a charred heap of bubbling flesh at its edge. That opening scene sums up writer/director David Creed’s debut feature nicely. Well done but very familiar.
Four friends Trish, her ex-girlfriend Kayla, Stacey (Naomi Willow; 2nd Date Sex) and Blake (Sian Abrahams; Aylesbury Dead) are having a bit of a girl’s night out. Trish initially gets a less than friendly reception for cheating on Kayla. That however is soon put behind them when they see Kayla’s other ex, Tyler (David English), in the club. It seems...
