At the age of 14, Orla Gartland could be found in her bedroom strumming away on her acoustic guitar daydreaming of crowds to serenade with her favorite songs. Now at 26, the London-based Irish singer-songwriter - who's been compared to St. Vincent, Stevie Nicks, and Haim - has just released her Woman on the Internet debut album in which she explores the ups, downs, and "unglamorous" chaos of her 20s.
Born and raised in Dublin, Gartland kickstarted her music career as a YouTuber in 2009 when she posted a cover of "Broken Strings" by Nelly Furtado and James Morrison under the name MusicMaaad. "I was obsessed with the song when I was learning to play guitar," she told Popsugar. "So I, very early on, made my guitar teacher teach it to me. That was my first YouTube video. That's how f*cking cocky I was."

YouTube is continuing its all-out siege against Article 13 -- a soon-to-be-approved copyright regulation across the European Union that would shift the burden of copyright policing directly to content platforms.
While numerous execs including Susan Wojcicki, Robert Kyncl, and Lyor Cohen have warned against the dangers of the law in company blog posts and newspaper op-eds, YouTube is now bringing its fight directly to the platform with pop-ups that serve to warn viewers in the EU about the potentially damning proposal. If the bill passes, Wojcicki has said that the copyright burden could fundamentally change the YouTube ecosystem across the EU, potentially resulting in the shutdown of millions of channels -- given that the cost of policing copyrighted material could become too costly for YouTube to withstand.
The Verge reports that the pop-ups are appearing at the bottom left-hand corner of videos where YouTube typically runs ads for its YouTube Premium subscription service.

If you’re embarrassed by old Facebook photos, imagine having seven years of YouTube videos from the age of 14. It’s just a fact of life for rising actress Arden Rose, star of New Form’s “Mr. Student Body President” and the second season of AwesomenessTV’s “Guidance.”
Rose began her YouTube channel in 2009 with hair and make-up videos, counseling her peers on curing acne and how to grow hair more quickly. Over the past seven years, her videos have quickly evolved from the ubiquitous talking head tutorial video to more stylized fare; with editing, music choices, and feminist politics, Rose’s channel stands out in a sea of clickbait titles and the viral challenge of the moment.

Five years after launching her YouTube channel, Dodie Clark is putting out her first album. The 21-year-old English singer-songwriter, whose songs combine her beautiful voice with melancholy lyrics and the pleasant strains of her ukelele, has announced her first Ep, Intertwined, which is now available for pre-order.
Intertwined will not see release until November 18th, but for those who are eager to hear Clark’s freshman effort, the album is currently available for pre-order from iTunes, Spotify, and Amazon. Those who pre-order a copy of Intertwined will get a chance to download one of its songs, “Sick of Losing Soulmates,” before the album comes out. A performance of that track can also be found on Clark’s YouTube channel, where it has received more than two million views to date.
In total, Clark’s YouTube channel has received more than 67 million views.
