When it comes to torpedoing a newly elected Democratic president, Mitch McConnell has plenty of experience.
In 2009, President Barack Obama took the White House with a landslide victory, sky-high approval ratings, and massive majorities in the House and Senate. After a lofty campaign and a disastrous George W. Bush presidency, the incoming president appeared ready to usher the country into a new, progressive era. Longtime “Jeopardy” host Alex Trebek was treated for cancer with experimental treatments pioneered by Los Angeles Times owner Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong, who earned billions developing cancer drugs. Soon-Shiong acquired the LA Times in 2018 for $500 million, along with several other community newspapers that were included in the deal. However, Soon-Shiong and his biotech companies remain intimately involved in cancer research and treatment. In July, not long before his 80th birthday, Trebek appeared on ABC’s “Good Morning America” to announce the release of his autobiographical book “The Answer Is…Reflections on My Life.” At that time, the longtime “Jeopardy” host also gave an update on his pancreatic cancer. He had made his diagnosis public in March 2019. Also Read: Alex Trebek Mourned by Hollywood: 'The Answer Is Thank You' On the show Trebek revealed he had sought out and was undergoing a new immunotherapy program pioneered by Soon-Shiong and his El Segundo-based biotech firm NantKWest Inc.

2020 has been a terrible year, but UFOlogists are having a whale of a time. There’ve been multiple sightings around the world as well as prominent politicians and governmental bodies acknowledging that there are unexplained phenomena occurring in the sky.
Earlier this month, for instance, former Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid spoke about US government UFO programs, claiming that they may have interfered with weapons systems and that “there’s some evidence that still hasn’t seen the light of day.” Even the Pentagon recently declassified UFO footage from 2004 and 2015, which indeed showed UFOs moving at a fast speed in bizarre ways. Whether they’re aliens or not remains unknown, but something is up.
Now, another notable figure has thrown her hat into the UFO ring. Singer and actress Miley Cyrus spoke to Interview Magazine this week and revealed her own UFO encounter, saying:

Senate Republicans appear to have the votes.
Though they preached four years ago about how confirming a Supreme Court justice in an election year would be a slap in the face to the American people, enough of President Trump’s henchmen in the Senate have changed their minds to all but guarantee a new conservative justice will join the court — even though the 2020 election is already in progress.

The Pentagon can be quite the tease, especially when it comes to UFOs. They’ve claimed the phenomenon doesn’t exist, that they looked into it and lost interest, and they disbanded the unit they had investigating it. Now The New York Times is reporting the top military office never stopped looking at the skies. They just stopped telling us about it. The program, called the Unidentified Aerial Phenomenon Task Force, is not classified, though some subjects contained in it are, but the Pentagon still prefers not to discuss it. A Senate committee has given them 180 days to tease us with more.
The covert UFO program came up in a Senate committee report last month while going over the annual intelligence agency budget. Among the details uncovered, the UFO Unit revealed unexplained Aerial Vehicle sightings had been made by a Navy Intelligence Task Force. Also, ex-advisor Eric W. Davis, told...

The period between April and December 2019 was a magical time for climate activists. The more than 20 Democratic candidates vying for the party’s nomination couldn’t stop trying to one-up each other. Candidates promised Green New Deals and millions of green jobs, initiatives to save the oceans and drilling bans on public lands. But to paraphrase Ecclesiastes, there’s a time to dream and a time to get down to business — and that...

As Joe Biden stumbled through months of debates and disappointed in the first three contests of the Democratic primary, his surrogates developed a kind of mantra: Wait until South Carolina — you’ll see. Variations on the theme were repeated so often that they felt destined to be proven utterly worthless, like so much of the political wisdom of the past five years.
Instead, the refrain surprised by being true: On Saturday, Biden crushed the Palmetto state primary, and his victory was so convincing that it set off a cascade of...

Updated with Buttigieg’s comments: Pete Buttigieg, in endorsing Joe Biden on Monday, told reporters that he was “looking for a leader. I am looking for a president who will draw out what is best in each of us.”
“He is someone of such extraordinary kindness and grace,” he said.
He was joined by Biden, who compared Buttigieg to his late son, Beau.
“I look over at Pete during the debates and I think, ‘You know, that’s a Beau,’ because he has such enormous character, such intellectual capacity and such a commitment to other people. I can’t tell you how much it means to me that he would step up and endorse me.”
Biden was holding a rally later on Monday, where Amy Klobuchar was expected to appear along with another former presidential candidate, Beto O’Rourke.

Amy Klobuchar is ending her presidential bid and will endorse Joe Biden at a campaign event in Dallas.
Klobuchar, the senator from Minnesota, faced a tough night on Super Tuesday, including the possibility of losing her home state’s primary to Bernie Sanders.
She was among a group of moderates who sought the nomination, but her prospects dimmed after poor showings in the Nevada caucuses and the South Carolina primary. The high point of her campaign was New Hampshire, when she placed third after delivering a standout debate performance only days earlier.
Pete Buttigieg, the former mayor of South Bend, In, ended his presidential bid on Sunday but has yet to endorse in the race.
Klobuchar’s exit from the race means that none of the major Democratic party contenders are younger than 70. Biden, Sanders, Mike Bloomberg and Elizabeth Warren remain. Tulsi Gabbard, a congresswoman from Hawaii, also is in the race,...

When Rachel Lears was chronicling the election campaigns of four progressive Democrats trying to upend the status quo she was very aware that all of the primary candidates could lose their races. Amy Vilela was trying to earn the nomination for a Las Vegas area congressional seat long controlled by the vaunted Harry Reid machine. Cori Bush was attempting to overcome one family’s hold on a St. Louis congressional seat for almost 50 years.
