The pop duo Us The Duo returned to “America’s Got Talent” on July 17 hoping to win over Howie Mandel, the one hold-out from their original audition. When they first appeared on June 5, married couple Michael Alvarado and Carissa Alvarado impressed the other three on the “Agt” panel — Simon Cowell, Mel B and Heidi Klum — with both their songwriting and singing but left Mandel less than impressed.
Heidi quizzed the couple and was delighted to discovered they are expecting a baby. After the surprise pregnancy announcement, they then performed another original tune “Stop This Love” with Michael accompanying them on a grand piano. Guest judge Ken Jeong was wowed by their talent as were their original three fans. But Mandel was still moping, criticizing their song choice until Simon stepped in to defend their talent.
