Sylvester Stallone’s life and career is getting the retrospective treatment courtesy of the Netflix documentary “Sly,” which chronicles the highs and lows of his near 50-year Hollywood career.
“Do I have regrets?” Stallone asks in a teaser that dropped on Friday. “Hell yeah, I have regrets.”
“Sly” is directed by Thom Zimny (“Springsteen on Broadway”) and produced by Sean Stuart, with the documentary to begin streaming in November.
The official logline explains what’s to come: “For nearly 50 years, Sylvester Stallone has entertained millions with iconic characters and blockbuster franchises, from ‘Rocky’ to ‘Rambo’ to ‘The Expendables.’ This retrospective documentary offers an intimate look at the Oscar-nominated actor-writer-director-producer, paralleling his inspirational underdog-story with the indelible characters he has brought to life.”
Stallone also serves as an executive producer on the documentary alongside Bill Zanker, Sam Delcanto, Braden Aftergood, Jon Beyer, Tom Forman and Jenny Daly, with Maren Domzalski and Adrienne Gerard as co-producers.

And I was like, 'What you call it is, I don't wanna make a remake.' I'm not interested in remakes."I think that what cable television has done for us is, it's made us, as an audience, embrace serial storylines even more, where we really get to create storylines that we can carry forward and into multiple chapters."Sylvester Stallone is returning to star in the upcoming movie.Ric is hopeful of replicating the success of 'Top Gun: Maverick', which introduced a number of new characters while also showing respect to the original movie.He...

When word got out that Sylvester Stallone was strapping on his climbing gear as Gabriel Walker for a sequel to Renny Harlin’s Cliffhanger, we at JoBlo could barely contain our excitement. Getting behind the camera for Cliffhanger 2, a follow-up to what is objectively one of Stallone’s best films, is Ric Roman Waugh, who recently spoke with Collider‘s Steve Weintraub about plot details for Walker’s next climb.
One year after starring alongside Estelle Getty in the familial comedy Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot, Sylvester Stallone strapped in for a nerve-jangling blockbuster with Cliffhanger. Sylvester Stallone has put into motion a reboot of the 1993 classic ‘Cliffhanger’, in which he will reprise his role of mountain climber and rescue ranger, Gabe Walker.
‘Angel Has Fallen’ and ‘Greenland’ filmmaker Ric Roman Waugh is set to direct the reboot from a script by Mark Bianculli, a writer-consulting producer on Amazon series ‘Hunters.’
“Growing up with the biggest action films of the ’80s and ’90s, working on many of them myself, Cliffhanger was by far one of my favourite spectacles,” said Waugh in a statement. “To be at the helm of the next chapter, scaling the Italian Alps with the legend himself, Sylvester Stallone, is a dream come true. It’s going to be a great challenge and blast taking this franchise to new heights, a responsibility I don’t take lightly.”

The idea of something new in the Cliffhanger world — be it sequel or reboot — has been digging its fingernails into the development cliff since at least 2009. Now, we finally have actual forward movement, with Sylvester Stallone returning to star and Ric Roman Waugh directing.
Renny Harlin's 1993 original Cliffhanger proved that the Die Hard formula needn’t necessarily be restricted to claustrophobic indoor settings, plonking mountain-rescue boy Stallone on the side of a snowy peak. Sly's Gabe Walker was reluctantly trying to foil John Lithgow’s plan to recover $100m stolen from the US treasury and deposited in the Rockies after a mid-air transfer went somewhat awry.
Despite success at the box office, the film was a nightmare production, ending up nearly bankrupting producers Carolco.
Though we've seen several potential versions come and go in the past (including one from Ana Lily Amirpour), it appears that a new movie is actually,...

1993’s Cliffhanger came along at an essential time for Sylvester Stallone. In 1990, Rocky V notably underperformed at the box office, while his foray into comedy with Oscar and Stop, Or My Mom Will Shoot was disastrous. Clearly, he needed the right comeback movie. Luckily, Sly was on the right track, with him signing a deal to make a high-concept action flick for Carolco Pictures, the reigning kings of 80s and 90s action movies called Cliffhanger. In it, he would play a mountain climber named Gabe Walker, who blames himself after a rescue gone wrong. While mounting another rescue attempt, Walker runs afoul of a group of deadly robbers who’ve stolen millions in unmarked currency via an air-to-air transfer.

Sylvester Stallone’s 1993 actioner, Cliffhanger, is getting a female-fronted reboot, with a key Fast & Furious franchise producer onboard.
Cliffhanger may not be widely seen as an iconic Sylvester Stallone actioner, but the high-altitude intensity of the Renny Harlin-directed 1993 blockbuster reaped respectable box office rewards, banking $255 million worldwide off a $70 million budget – more than the $189 million made from Sly's then-recent franchise mainstay in 1988’s Rambo III, and certainly more than the $119.9 million earned by 1990 dud Rocky V. Indeed, Cliffhanger has its fans, notably Fast & Furious film franchise producer Neal Moritz, who’s now spearheading a female-fronted reboot effort.
Yes, Hollywood’s insatiable reboot rampage has placed its grip on Cliffhanger, which Moritz is bringing to the table with a gender-swapped twist in the protagonist department, according to Deadline. Set to occupy the director’s chair will be Ana Lily Amirpour, who, working off a script...
