We hardly got to see what Evan DeBenedetto was made of on “So You Think You Can Dance.” He only got to perform one tap routine during the live shows, and it had to be watered down because his partner Chelsea Hough wasn’t a trained tapper. The two of them were eliminated the very next week. But judge Nigel Lythgoe knew what a missed opportunity that was, so during the season finale on September 10 he had choreographer Anthony Morigerato create a brand new tap routine for him. And he was joined by season 14 champion Lex Ishimoto. Watch their performance above.
DeBenedetto and Ishimoto performed their impressive routine to an old classic: “It Don’t Mean a Thing If It Ain’t Got That Swing” by Mel Torme. It was an impressive performance by Ishimoto especially because his background isn’t in tap. It’s in contemporary and hip-hop. But...

He wins $250,000, a part in the Broadway show "On the Town," and the cover of "Dance Spirit" magazine.
Why did Ricky take the title over these other talented dancers? Let's take a look at what factors may have affected the vote.

Did a tap dancer finally hoof his or her way to the title of America's Favorite Dancer?
On Wednesday's Season 11 finale of So You Think You Can Dance, we were treated to "Bailando" by Enrique Iglesias featuring Sean Paul, a killer new group number by Sonya Tayeh and Christopher Scott, and repeats of our favorite performances from throughout the season. More importantly, we also found out whether it was Jessica Richens, Ricky Ubeda, Valerie Rockey or Zack Everhart who took home bragging rights.

All of the So You Think You Can Dance competitors' hard work, determination, and sometimes questionable performance costumes (just kidding!) has all led to this moment-- crowning America's favorite dancer this season. So who will it be? Will it be jazz dancer Jessica Richens, tapper Valerie Rockey, contemporary dancer Ricky Ubeda, or tapper Zack Everhart, Jr? I must say it is a pleasure to have two tap dancers in the finale.
Before we get the answer to the big question, I predict there will be lots of great dancing, and a visit from some of our favorite So You Think You Can Dance guest judges. We will also have a musical performance from Enrique Iglesias and Sean Paul as they perform the hit single "Bailando."
Buckle up tight, people. This is the So You Think You Can Dance live blog!

The top four dancers did all they could to earn your vote to become this season's So You Think You Can Dance winner. This year there will be only one winner, rather than both a guy and girl The top four dancers -- Valerie Rockey, Jessica Richens, Ricky Ubeda, and Zack Everhart, Jr. performed an incredible five times each. I was exhausted by the end of the show, and I am just a spectator.
So who left it all on the So You Think You Can Dance stage? Let's try and figure out who will be crowned the season 11 champion.

This is easily the most excited I have been for an episode of So You Think You Can Dance all season. Even though I picked three of the four finalists as major contenders when the Top-20 was announced and five of the final six, thank you you very much, this is definitely not the Final Four Zack Everhart, Jessica Richens, Valerie Rockey and Ricky Ubeda that I thought we would have just a few weeks ago. That being said, each has managed to have a breathtaking moment or four, however, with the exception of Ricky, each has also had their share of missteps as well.

So You Think You Can Dance fans, I have a dilemma.
For much of Wednesday’s Top 10 performance show — which paired each finalist with an All-Star dancer from seasons past — I couldn’t quite decide whether the Top 10 were put at an advantage or disadvantage by dancing with Sytycd vets.
Take, for example, what I considered tonight’s most entertaining routine: a fun hip-hop number between Jessica Richens and her All-Star companion, Twitch. On her own, Jessica did an excellent job with the fast-paced routine (and started to break away from the idea that she can only excel at jazz...

How can I adequately express my feelings about So You Think You Can Dance‘s Top 14 performance show? Allow me to take a cue from Paramore’s Hayley Williams: “After all this time, I’m still into you.”
Okay, okay, I realize that’s cheesy. But let’s face it: During the 120 minutes allotted for Wednesday’s episode, it was hard not to be legitimately frustrated that this gem of a reality competition series so often flies under the radar, when even in its 11th season, performers are still earning three-judge standing O’s (and millions from viewers’ living rooms,...

Nakul Dev Mahajan Is Bollywood and since season 4 of So You Think You Can Dance, the choreographer has thrilled audiences with his Bollywood numbers. Besides working on Sytycd, Nakul is also is the director of Ndm Bollywood Dance Studios and director and choreographer for his Bollywood dance company, Ndm Bollywood Dance Productions Inc. Not only that, he has also choreographed Bollywood dance numbers for many other projects for television and special events. He also spreads the love and magic of Bollywood through the Bollywood master classes he conducts all over the country. In fact, last November for Diwali, he taught a master class at the White House and met the First Lady, and most recently did a special session for students of the Joffrey Ballet Academy.
Once again, in a wonderful and fun chat with Nakul, I got to indulge my inner dancer and Bolly-ness talking dance and Bollywood. Check...

I know it’s early into Season 11, but I’m not sure So You Think You Can Dance‘s effervescent Rudy can do any wrong.
Ok, maybe he should consider a 10 percent reduction in wide-eyed golly gee-ness when he gets positive feedback from the judges — it’s sometimes a fine line between wicked heartthrob and ventriloquist’s dummy — but you’ve got to admit he’s as loveable as a teacup chihuahua peeking out from a cashmere blanket (or a newborn kitten cradled in an endive leaf, if you’re not really into canines).

From the moment we saw him during the So You Think You Can Dance auditions we felt certain Miami contemporary dancer Ricky Ubeda (he of the goofy grin, scruffy chin, and impossible extensions) would likely wind up going far in the competition. To us he feels like the perfect combination of all stars Mark Kanemura (angular, quirky) and Neil Haskell (long-legged, athletic).
Last week Ricky amazed with a Sonya Tayeh number while temporarily paired up with another strong contemporary dancer, Jessica Richens.
This week the top 20 dancers were assigned permanent partners and Ricky drew adorable tapper Valerie Rockey. Their first assignment together, a Travis Wall routine….
There are certainly other strong dancers on Sytycd this year, but we’re having trouble seeing any of them beating Ricky out for the title of America’s Favorite Dancer.

Spolier alert: I’m not going to complain about Nigel Lythgoe taketh-ing away So You Think You Can Dance‘s crucial “fight for your existence” solo round during tonight’s Top 20 performance episode (Part Deux).
Granted, I reserve the right to kvetch, moan and grumble about this questionable omission until at least the end of July, but for now, allow me to focus on the positive and give the executive producer props for giveth-ing us the greatest guest judge in So You Think You Can Dance‘s 11-season history: Misty Copeland.

You’re only as strong as your weakest samba roll — or so the old saying goes (kinda sorta).
And that’s why So You Think You Can Dance fans have been eagerly awaiting news of the show’s Season 11 Top 20 pairings.

After last week’s “Meet the Top 20″ telecast — in which every contestant was paired up with someone from the same style, and then given a routine in their own genre — tonight’s telecast (8/7c on Fox) will push the dancers outside their comfort zones.
