Journalists and observers reacted online Wednesday and Thursday to layoffs at CBS News, particularly those at local affiliate Wbbm-Channel 2 in Chicago. Among those laid off was reporter Pam Zekman, who had been at the station for nearly 40 years.
“Legend. Damn. Most valuable internship I had, working in Pam Zekman‘s investigative unit. Learned how to spot Bs, read a court case quickly, chase loafing city workers and outwork interns from snotty Medill,” wrote Lansing State Journal’s Graham Couch after reading Robert Feder’s report that Zekman was among those cut.
“Best part: She treated a 21-year-old kid like he was part of the team,” Couch added.

In late December, when HuffPost Live journalist Caroline Modarressy-Tehrani asked R. Kelly during a live interview to address the numerous sexual abuse allegations that have plagued his entire career, the singer cut her off, questioned her intelligence, and abruptly ended the interview. Kelly's interaction with GQ's Chris Heath, however, is a different story: In a sprawling, detailed new conversation that reads like a character evaluation (the interview ends with Heath trying to catch Kelly in a lie), Kelly is more or less an open book. No topic is off limits — the singer speaks on being sexually abused by a relative in more detail than he ever has before; his relationship with his presumed ex-wife, Aaliyah; accusations of sexual contact with underage women; and even Bill Cosby. He maintains his innocence — as he has done since the beginning, and did to Vulture last November — but clears the air...

R. Kelly stormed off the set of an interview with HuffPost Live on Monday, refusing to answer questions about his long history of sexual assault allegations. The singer was promoting his latest album, “The Buffet,” and took offense to a question about whether or not the allegations have affected his album sales. After a contentious back-and-forth with interviewer Caroline Modarressy-Tehrani, he walked off the set saying, “This interview is over.” Modarressy-Tehrani asked Kelly to respond to fans who are conflicted about supporting his music because of his controversial past, but the singer refused to cooperate or acknowledge the “negative” line of questioning.

R. Kelly Goes on HuffPost Live for an Extremely Painful Interview About Why His New Album Is Tanking
R. Kelly is a very talented singer. You can't deny this. But R. Kelly has done some pretty horrible things that are impossible to ignore. Take, for instance, a recent video he posted online, in which he blames low album sales for his latest release, The Buffet, on "lack of support," instead of the more obvious answer, which is that people don't really want another R. Kelly album right now. To try to convince us otherwise, the Chicago R&B legend went on HuffPost Live to make his case, and when host Caroline Modarressy-Tehrani asks him to explain why he thinks no one is buying his album, Kelly blames it on computers, and also accuses Modarressy-Tehrani of staging a deposition. The whole thing, like many aspects of Kelly's career, is cringeworthy, but if you want to hear him make an awkward analogy using a hamburger commercial, you should watch.
