The National LGBTQ Task Force — a nonprofit that describes itself as “the progressive voice of the LGBTQ movement” — has set its sights on Miami as the host city for the 27th annual Task Force Gala on Oct. 14. The ceremony, presented by St. John’s on the Lake United Methodist Church, will honor Pose breakout Dominique Jackson with a national leadership award during a program that also features co-hosts Latrice Royale and Dyllón Burnside and performances by Anne Steele, Robbie Elias and Tango Libertad.
Taking place in a year that marks the Task Force’s 50th anniversary and in October which marks LGBTQ history month, the event is being presented with the theme “Forever Strong, Unapologetically Queer,” a sentiment that can be applied to the org’s choice to host such an event in Florida, a state that has emerged as a battleground in the fight between conservative lawmakers and LGBTQ citizens.

A holiday as conspicuous as Christmas will undoubtedly attract the most thrills and chills at this time of year. In the past, TV’s genre anthologies have been a remarkable and plentiful source of wintry terror, be that of the Christmas variety or otherwise. The original Twilight Zone submitted the strangest of strange holiday stories, Tales from the Darkside provided the macabre classics “Seasons of Belief” and “The Yattering and Jack,” and Tales from the Crypt put a new spin on the EC-era slasher “And All Through the House.”
Christmas horror only became more weird and wild as the century changed. And as these five festive frighteners from more recent anthology series suggest, there’s never a better season for horror than winter.

FX has renewed Ryan Murphy’s “American Horror Stories” for a second installment, FX Entertainment President Eric Schrier said Friday at FX’s second (of three) TCA (Television Critics Association) day. Season 2 of the anthology series will debut in 2022.
The “American Horror Story” spinoff debuted in July as the most-watched FX on Hulu series to date. That boast counts just four series, however, the others being “Devs,” “Mrs. America” and “A Teacher.” Still, first place is first place.
The Season 1 finale of “Stories” will premiere Thursday, Aug. 19. Meanwhile, “American Horror Story: Double Feature,” which is the 10th season of “AHS,” is set to premiere Aug. 25 at 10 p.m. on FX. Keeping the partnership alive, the show will be available to stream the following day on FX on Hulu.

American Horror Stories will take viewers back to a familiar American Horror Story location.
In a bonkers first-look trailer, we get to see a new crop of characters in the iconic murder house introduced on American Horror Story Season 1.
The house was also featured on American Horror Story Season 8, and when we last left it, it was still filled with countless spirits from the past.
There's no sign of any familiar characters in the house setting, but FX typically keeps plot points under secret until transmission, so there may well be some big faces.
There is the confirmation of the return of the Rubber Suit, which terrorized people on countless occasions throughout the run of the show.
What will it get up to?
We also get a glimpse of the Infantata, which looks poised to be making a return in some capacity during the special season.

The category is red carpet fabulosity! On Sept. 22, Indya Moore, Billy Porter, Dyllon Burnside, and the cast of Pose brought their ballroom struts to the red carpet for the 2019 Emmy Awards. Just one night before, the cast got together at Vanity Fair and FX's Emmy Nominations Party to celebrate Billy's 50th birthday, and the party didn't stop there.
Pose made history this year with six groundbreaking Emmy nominations, including outstanding drama series and Billy's nomination for outstanding lead actor in a drama series. Janet Mock, the series's writer, director, and producer, is the first black transgender producer to ever be nominated in the outstanding drama series category. Check out photos of the cast at the Emmy Awards and get excited for a night of (hopefully) record-breaking awards.

Pose stars Dyllon Burnside, Indya Moore, Angel Bismark Curiel, Hailie Sahar and Mj Rodriguez are preparing for the Emmys next month by looking back at where their stories went during the last nine episodes, including stepping into the shoes of early AIDS activists, filming steamy sex scenes, having all-night drug binges at disco clubs and more.
While talking about bringing the stories of Lgbtq activists in the '90s to television, Sahar told In Studio With The Hollywood Reporter: "I just feel more of an honor to be telling a story of people that I'm standing on the shoulders ...

Warning: Spoilers ahead for the Pose!
Things got real on the Aug. 6 episode of Pose, appropriately titled "Revelations." In the episode, Pray Tell (Billy Porter) is helping Ricky (Dyllon Burnside) now that Ricky has tested HIV-positive. As the two spend an evening together going over how Ricky can take care of himself and then relaxing with a movie, one thing leads to another and they end up in bed together. As the smooth tones of Babyface play in the background, the two share an intimate night, something that Porter says meant a lot to him as a 50-year-old gay, black performer.
Porter tells the 2019 TCA Summer press tour audience that TV shows "generally cut our d*cks off" when it comes to showing gay male relationships, but even when they do show gay male relationships, it's usually "white boys."

Spoiler Alert: Do not read if you have not yet watched “Revelations,” the eighth episode of the second season of “Pose.”
When Steven Canals wrote the script for the eighth episode of “Pose’s” second season, titled “Revelations,” he did not know he was going to be directing such an emotional, intimate sex scene between Pray Tell (Billy Porter) and Ricky (Dyllon Burnside).
“It’s scripted as, ‘Pray Tell is resistant, then he kind of gives into his passion, and then off of his passion we cut to the title sequence.’ I took that, but obviously that’s not what I gave you,” Canals tells Variety.
Canals also wrote the episode, and from the time he was working on the story on the page to when he was prepping shot lists, he thought there “would just be kissing.” But as began thinking more deeply about what he wanted to say...

By now, we sincerely hope you're tuning in to the majesty of FX's new drama Pose. With its groundbreaking cast and history-making crew, the show has been smashing barriers ever since the June 3 premiere. And, I mean, that sensational soundtrack is enough in and of itself to earn some serious props. But all technical aspects of the show aside, we'd like to take a moment to thirst over one of the cast's beautiful protagonists: Dyllon Burnside, who plays Ricky, the rough-and-tumble boy on the scene who secretly has a heart of gold. Dyllon is a Florida native who got his start in theater and has been acting since age 12. Now, at 29, he's dazzling us week after week with his gorgeous smile and silky skin. And we've collected the most gorgeous pictures the internet has to offer.

Pose is the ninth TV series Ryan Murphy has either created or co-created (not counting American Crime Story, where he's an influential executive producer). It is also, somewhat improbably, the most restrained and earnest of all his shows, despite its subject matter.
Or maybe because of it.
Pose, which Murphy co-created with Brad Falchuk and Steven Canals (and premieres on June 3rd) takes place in New York in the late Eighties, in the drag ball scene that was briefly brought into the mainstream by Madonna's "Vogue" video and the documentary Paris Is Burning.

Spoiler Alert: This review includes details about the first four episodes of FX’s Pose.
Category is: Ryan Murphy one-hour dramas based on a historic real-life counter-culture phenomenon!
When it was announced that the guy who created Glee and American Horror Story was helming a show following the 1980s ball scene of New York City, red flags immediately went up as Murphy is known for Murphy-izing subject matter into a hyperreality that’s sensational, over-the-top and oftentimes campy — but that is in his wheelhouse, and he is unapologetic about it. Admittingly, I’m not a devout passenger that rides the Murphy train. If I happen to hitch a ride on one of his many properties, I usually offboard halfway through the season (if not earlier).
But based on the first four episodes of Pose, this FX drama may be the first Murphy journey that I will watch from start to finish.
