“Project Runway” season 20 is well underway with All-Star contestants competing for another chance at the title. But what can the winner look forward to after the show is over? In the latest “Runway” after show, season four winner and current mentor Christian Siriano caught up with season 18 champ Geoffrey Mac and season 19 victor Shantall Lacayo. Watch above.
“I never imagined that after the show it was going to be actually harder than being in ‘Project Runway,'” Lacayo confessed. “After ‘Project Runway’ you feel a relief that everything’s finished, but then the hard work starts. We worked on our rebranding. We changed the name from ‘Shantall Lacayo’ into ‘Shantall’ … And last week that you were with us we had the opportunity to be with the buyers from Saks, and Nordstrom, and all the stores. So this is fashion business, and yeah, it’s been very, very hard.”

Last week in the seventh episode of “Project Runway” season 19, the 10 designers worked in pairs yet again to use faux fur in an avant-garde challenge. While Bones Jones and Aaron Michael Steach struggled to find a unified approach to building out an oversized fur collar, Shantall Lacayo was faced with the prospect of falling into the bottom with a partner holding immunity. Sure enough, she and Kristina Kharlashkina were the judges’ least favorite, meaning Shantall was eliminated. Luckily, Christian Siriano still had his save to use and decided to spare Shantall, keeping her in the competition.

Project Runway will return to Bravo for its 19th season but will be missing its full-time host Karlie Kloss.
On Wednesday, Bravo revealed that the fashion competition show will begin production for the upcoming Season 19 this spring in New York City. In addition to the news, Bravo shared that Kloss will only be “making appearances” throughout the new season, as opposed to taking up her hosting gig.
Kloss served as host of the competition series since it moved from Lifetime to Bravo in 2019. Bravo did not provide additional details regarding who might fill in for Kloss going forward.
Although the supermodel, who welcomed her first child with Joshua Kushner last month, will not come back in her full hosting capacity, Bravo confirmed the return of mentor Christian Siriano and judges Nina Garcia, Brandon Maxwell and Elaine Welteroth.

The world is opening back up, and the designers are heading back to the workroom. Bravo just announced that Project Runway is returning for season 19, and production is set to begin later this spring with a whole new crop of designers ready to take the fashion world by storm. Mentor Christian Siriano and judges Nina Garcia, Elaine Welteroth and Brandon Maxwell will all be returning full time. Host Karlie Kloss, however, will be making "guest appearances" throughout the new season, which might have something to do with the fact that she just gave birth to her first child in March. Bravo announced Wednesday that filming for Season 19 of “Project Runway” will begin soon, the first time the fashion competition will be produced since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. The reality TV perennial, which made its debut on Bravo in 2004, and brought connoisseurship to the genre, completed airing its most recent season in March of last year.
Returning to the show will be Christian Siriano, Nina Garcia, Brandon Maxwell and Elaine Welteroth. At first it was hard to know how big a contender Geoffrey Mac really was on “Project Runway.” He was flustered while shopping for fabrics from the very first challenge, and in the space of his first two weeks he went from the judges’ runner-up to the judges’ bottom two. But after that topsy-turvy start he proved his mettle time and again, and from what we’ve seen of him he also seems to be one of the kindest contenders in the workroom. As most of our Gold Derby users predicted, Brooklyn-based Geoffrey Mac was named the winner of Season 18 with his 10-piece New York Fashion Week collection that featured metal mesh puffer coats as well as more refined ensembles. As someone who was given to second guessing himself and fretting about his future as a designer if he didn’t get the title, it was great to see him smile and revel in his triumph on the last episode of the season.
But as lovely as it was that this big-hearted designer did himself proud, there were other moments that were worth savoring during the finale that also sparked joy. In fact, it was the arrival of a last-minute addition to the cat-eyed Moldovan designer Victoria Cocieru‘s collection that proved to be the favorite among fans who took our poll — her gorgeous off-the-shoulder white sweater gown that was more refined than...

I don’t know about you, but I thought all four of the final “Project Runway” designers who competed at New York Fashion Week did themselves proud both with their distinctive looks and how they grew as artists.
Geoffrey Mac, who was named the winner of Season 18 — making him the oldest winner at age 42 –overcame his penchant for dithering at Mood. Victoria Cocieru almost quit in the middle of the competition after throwing a diva fit as she struggled with an outfit that was supposed to be sheer. But she managed to get her act together enough to be safe from being cut. Nancy Volpe-Beringer — the oldest contestant — had a habit of repeating the same type of baggy trouser. But she came through when it counted as she featured in her collection a pant suit that was impeccably tailored .

“They came, they showed, they conquered New York Fashion Week,” says our ‘Project Runway’ after-show host Christian Siriano. “And now we have a winner!” namely, designer Geoffrey Mac. Turns out the New Yorker is the oldest winner of the show ever at 42. “At his most panicked to his most endearing, Geoffrey’s charm was irresistable while his skill and singular vision were consistent and undeniable.” But he brings out the Season 18 champ, Christian will chat with three runners-up — Nancy Volpe-Beringer, Victoria Cocieru and Sergio Guaddarama.
He festively declares, “It’s not an after show, it’s an After Party!” He declares it his Oprah moment, “It’s a party!” Adult beverages included. Nancy immediately freaks out when Christian takes a sip before anyone else. “You know what that means,” she asks emphatically. While the other designers guess bad luck, Nancy tells Christian, “It’s 1o years of bad sex.”

Spoiler Alert: Do not read if you have not yet watched the season finale of “Project Runway” Season 18.
This season of “Project Runway” couldn’t end without Sergio Guadarrama fighting for one final cause. This time? The arctic, and what humanity is doing to it. He also stole some spotlight for a personal proposal. But in the end, he didn’t come away with the biggest prize — Geoffrey Mac did.
Last week, viewers were left with a cliffhanger. The episode ended with the final four contestants — Guadarrama, Mac, Nancy Volpe-Beringer and Victoria Cocieru — still in the running to advance to New York Fashion Week and ultimately take home the quarter-million dollar prize and Cfda mentorship.
Cocieru’s looks paid homage to Moldova, her home country, and included crocheted hats that her mom helped her make. The judges were impressed, but the collection wasn’t quite there to put her in first.

“Finale, Part 2” followed last week’s cliffhanger. The finalists spent five months and $10,000 creating 10-look collections to decide the ultimate winner. It was possible only two or three of the finalists would actually get to present their collections at Fashion Week. So this week’s show answered that question up top. “Project Runway” season 18 is almost over, and all that’s left is for the remaining designers to present their final collections at New York Fashion Week. Geoffrey Mac is still the front-runner for the grand prize with leading odds of 47/50 as of this writing. He has been out front since he won his second design challenge in “Live and Let Tie Dye.” The judges had mixed feelings about his preview pieces in last week’s penultimate episode, but all four finalists got mixed reviews to varying degrees, and he has a distinct artistic voice with a futuristic bent that has the potential to wow the panelists if it’s refined well enough.

Four designers went into the two-part finale of “Project Runway” season 18, so how did they spend all their time away from the workroom preparing their collections for Fashion Week, and what twists and surprises were in store for them along the way? Find out below in our live blog with all the minute-by-minute developments as they happened.

Last week the top six designers went to the Vessel in New York City to present avant garde looks. Brittany Allen presented a voluminous pink coat whose execution was lacking upon closer inspection, while Marquise Foster created a silvery Tin Man look that the judges thought was overthought and had proportion problems. So both of them were eliminated — again. Both had been eliminated once before and got second chances on the show, but couldn’t quite take their good fortune all the way to the finale.

Mac is the front-runner to win according to the combined predictions of our users, and he’s also the designer that fans are rooting for the most by a wide margin. He got more than half of the vote (59%) as the designer most deserving of the title. Over the course of the season he struggled with self-confidence, but he came into his own near the end of the season with his second win in “Live and Let Tie Dye” and then advancing to the Fashion Week finale with...

So close, yet so far. Marquise Foster was eliminated on “Project Runway” just shy of the Fashion Week finale. There was a double elimination in “The Height of Avant-Garde Fashion,” leaving him and Brittany Allen on the outs while Geoffrey Mac, Victoria Cocieru, Sergio Guadarrama and Nancy Volpe-Beringer advanced to the deciding round of the competition. Did the judges get it right or wrong? Scroll down to see our poll results at the bottom of this post.

Most of the fans we surveyed (58%) said, “He deserved to be eliminated.” It was an avant garde challenge in which the designers had to create innovative looks inspired by the Vessel in New York City. Foster loved the idea of the challenge since he’s a veteran of the ballroom scene and thus had experience with out-there fashion. But the judges weren’t too thrilled with his look.

Geoffrey Mac and Victoria Cocieru have the best chance to win “Project Runway” according to the combined predictions of fans who have placed their bets for the finale here in our predictions center. So which one do you think has the edge?
As of this writing we’re giving Mac the advantage with odds of 17/20. He took the lead in our odds after he won his second design challenge in “Live and Let Tie Dye,” in which he created a gorgeous army-green dress that guest judge Leslie Jones liked so much that she exclaimed “That’s mine!” as Mac’s model walked down the runway. He struggled with fit in the “Olympic Game Plan” challenge the next week, but then he came right back in “The Height of Avant-Garde Fashion” by wowing the judges with his innovative use of latex. After 12 weeks, “Project Runway” season 18 is down to its final four: Victoria Cocieru, Sergio Guadarrama, Geoffrey Mac and Nancy Volpe-Beringer. But we had to survive a lot of terrible clothes in order to get there. There were 13 looks so bad this season that the judges had to send their designers packing. A couple of unfortunate designers were eliminated twice. But which was the worst of the worst? Click above to take a look back at every ousted look, and vote in our poll at the bottom of this post.

Geoffrey Mac, the nice-guy Brooklyn-based designer who is currently the frontrunner to win “Project Runway” 18 according to Gold Derby users, shows off the collection he has made to mentor Christian Siriano in the clip below. He has a least eight completed ensembles on dress forms, but then reveals, “I haven’t gotten them on humans yet.” Christian is a little shocked. His excuse for not trying any of them on a real person? It didn’t work in his time frame.
Since they are in the show’s workroom, it is likely that the four remaining designers, including Victoria Cocieru, Sergio Guardarrama and Nancy Volpe-Beringer, will be giving the judges a preview of their New York Fashion Week submissions.
Christian, being kind, says, “That’s interesting” before one outfit catches his eye. “She has a sleeve from her boob.” Geoffrey then puts atop the reddish-brownish design what seems to be a parka.

I was surprised to see Brittany Allen eliminated from “Project Runway” in the season’s last challenge before Fashion Week, “The Height of Avant-Garde Fashion.” But were the judges right to send her packing? We asked our readers, and that result was kind of surprising to me too. Scroll down for our complete poll results.
Most fans (61%) said Allen deserved to be eliminated. This despite the fact that she was the front-runner to win the entire competition earlier in the season. She admitted herself at the start of the challenge that avant garde fashion wasn’t her thing. She’s a more ready-to-wear designer. But she devised a voluminous pink coat that the judges admired from afar for its visual impact and romance when they saw it during the fashion show at the Vessel. How do you solve a problem like “Project Runway” Season 18 finalist Sergio Guadarrama?
For every time you wanted to hiss at him when he faux-invented a political back story for one of his designs, you ooh’d and ah’d over his meticulously put-together chic outfits. For every time he demeaned his fellow competitors for their lack of sewing prowess, he stepped in to help and provide advice. And although he might think creating a female samurai warrior look is an original idea while judge Nina Garcia thinks otherwise, he was a true friend to Nancy Volpe-Beringer — at 64, the oldest contestant to ever compete on the show– when other designers trash-talked her outfits behind her back.

Ah, just as the two-part finale of the 18th season of Bravo’s “Project Runway” is right around the corner, it is time for the avant-garde challenge. It will decide which two designers will not be making a collection for New York Fashion Week since everyone was declared safe on the previous episode. The only show staple that strikes greater fear in the designers is when the unconventional materials start flying about the workroom.
The inspiration for the challenge is a newish New York City landmark known as the Vessel, or as my fellow editor Daniel Montgomery calls it, the Glorious Space Pine Cone. In a preview, we first see mentor Christian Siriano asking Nancy Volpe-Beringer what she is up to. She is making some kind of fabric for her piece, but she doesn’t seem to have a concrete idea yet.

Nancy Volpe-Beringer knows more than anyone that it’s better late than never. The 64-year-old designer is the oldest contestant in “Project Runway” history, and then in “Olympic Game Plan,” after 11 weeks of waiting, she finally won a design challenge. And even though she hasn’t gotten much love from the judges or her fellow designers for her overall aesthetic, she currently has fewer low scores than anyone else in the competition. But is that enough to get her into the finale?
Volpe-Beringer has landed at the bottom of the judges’ scores only twice — in “Project Runway X Ashley Longshore” and “Suit Yourself” — and in both cases she was in the bottom two and narrowly escaped elimination. But those were her only missteps. Besides those results, she was safe five times and received three other high scores: in “The Ultimate Upcycle” (she was the runner-up), “Sheer Genius” (she was the...

Geoffrey Mac didn’t necessarily seem like a “Project Runway” front-runner at first. He was flustered while shopping for fabrics from the very first challenge, and in the space of his first two weeks he went from the judges’ top two to the judges’ bottom two. Client challenges are always tough since the designers have to work with people who don’t necessarily have a fashion background. On one hand, you need to make your client happy, comfortable and confident. But this is also still a fashion competition, so you also need to be true to yourself as an artist and present something modern and unique. Sometimes those priorities clash with designers either ignoring their clients or abandoning their own creative identities entirely. The ideal is always somewhere in the...

Drama in the workroom. In this exclusive clip from tonight's all-new Project Runway, designer Geoffrey Mac is left thoroughly pissed after someone's carelessness with an iron ruins his perfect pink dress. Specifically, the iron Geoffrey is using on his completed piece is covered in black residue from a previous design. In an attempt to figure out what has happened, Geoffrey shows the ironing disaster to peers Victoria Cocieru and Sergio Guadarrama. While Victoria is shocked by the snafu, Sergio wonders if hot glue could've been to blame. "I'm...

As is usually the case with every competitive reality TV show, there comes a time when the pool of players are all equally talented but in their own way. That certainly was the case on the most recent episode of “Project Runway” when the seven remaining designers put their mark on the art of tie-dye fabrics.
The one-day challenge required a sleepover — or a non-sleepover in most cases — as they worked through the night so that the textiles each made would be able to dry before they could run them through their Brothers sewing machines.
Gold Derby senior editors Daniel Montgomery and Susan Wloszczyna have some thoughts about the outcome as usual. Given the circumstances and the general lack of tie-dye know-how despite being tutored on the technique by experts, Daniel feared that the runway would turn out to be a “disaster show, but it was actually mostly good … except for two looks.

This season the “Project Runway” designers have made looks out of wrapping paper, upcycled Goodwill clothes, pop art, and sheer fabric. This time last week I wrote about how we were underestimating Chelsey Carter on “Project Runway.” She was the last designer who hadn’t received a single low score from the judges, so she seemed like a good bet for the finale, and maybe even to win the whole thing.
