TikTok‘s leadership team is stepping up to ensure that the company makes progress in its trust and safety division. A reorganization will install Head of Operations Adam Presser as the overseer of the unit that has received scrutiny from regulators in the U.S. and abroad.
As reported by The Information, TikTok’s executive shuffle will give it more control over its trust and safety operations. Previously, that department was led by Erich Andersen, the general counsel for TikTok parent ByteDance. Presser, who took over as the leader of TikTok ops after the departure of former COO V Pappas, reports to TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew rather than ByteDance CEO Rubo Liang.
After Presser’s promotion from Chief of Staff to Head of Operations, he instituted changes in his department. A reorg announced last year looked to make TikTok’s ops more efficient as the app seeks partnerships with creators,...

CBS’s The Amazing Race Season 35 feels like a return to form. The coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic threw a wrench into how the show happened. While the creators and producers worked hard to adjust to the challenges that the pandemic created, there was only so much they could do. Thankfully, it’s 2023, and we love how the game’s played thus far. The producers also spoke about how contestants in the new season headed to a country the show’s never visited.
‘The Amazing Race’ Season 35 visits Slovenia for the first time in show history
Those who’ve previously watched The Amazing Race are familiar with some of the most popular countries the show visits. The series has visited over 80 countries, and we often see competitors racing to China, India, France, Italy, and Thailand — and, of course, all across the U.S. Competitors have been asked to raise across every continent except Antarctica,...

“The Amazing Race” executive producers Bertram van Munster and Elise Doganieri, along with host/EP Phil Keoghan, had already shot a Season 35 of “The Amazing Race” last year, and it was mostly edited and ready to go. But then came a detour: Early this winter, CBS approached both “Survivor” and “The Amazing Race” about expanding to weekly 90 minute episodes for fall 2023. Rather than retroactively try to pad an additional half hour on to those already-shot episodes, van Munster, Doganieri and Keoghan decided to hit the road again and take full advantage of filming supersized installments.
And that’s what they did, earlier this summer, with a new cast of contestants. Now, that just-completed race will instead serve as “The Amazing Race” Season 35, premiering September 27. The hour-long edition filmed in fall 2022 will still eventually be seen, but it has been pushed to become Season 36, running at a later date.

Senior eOne TV execs Steve Bertram and Michael Lombardo are exiting the company following the acquisition by Lionsgate.
Film and TV president Bertram has been at the company for almost a decade, having joined originally as film group chief in 2014 before adding the TV remit.
Bertram brought in former HBO programming chief Lombardo in 2020, following Hasbro’s £2.9bn acquisition of eOne. Lombardo served as president of global television overseeing eOne’s studio development and production across scripted and unscripted programming, having been a consultant at the Toronto-headquartered company.

Howdy, Insider crew. It’s the traditionally quiet summer season in TV and film land but European festivals, big-ticket M&a and Middle Eastern politics have ensured it’s stayed noisy. Jesse Whittock guiding you through. Click here to subscribe to the newsletter.
Lionsgate Buys eOne
First out of the Gate: Sometimes, you’ve just gotta sell up and move on. Hasbro confirmed its week the news Nellie Andreeva and Mike Fleming Jr told you about in July — Lionsgate is the company buying the toy giant’s entertainment subsidiary eOne. Lionsgate had been competing with the likes of Fremantle and Cvc Capital Partners but has won out with a $500M deal for eOne TV and film divisions, whose key titles include Yellowjackets and The Woman King. Hasbro bought indie giant eOne for $4B back in 2019, prompting sarcastic remarks about the financial loss in our comments section and from market watchers.

Steve Bertram is leaving Entertainment One as president, film & television after Hasbro unveiled a deal to sell the content division to Lionsgate for $500 million.
“With the business transitioning to a new owner, the time is right for me to move on,” Bertram told staff in an internal memo obtained by The Hollywood Reporter. Lionsgate offered no comment on Bertram indicating he will step down.
Bertram joined the then indie producer and distributor as president, global film group, in 2014 to oversee distribution operations in Canada, the U.K., the U.S., Australia/New Zealand, Spain and the Benelux. That followed Bertram leading new business development and operations at DreamWorks, reporting to CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg.
Bertram in the internal memo said he will remain with eOne “for a short period” to help pave the way for eOne to land at Lionsgate. “Hasbro will appoint a transition team shortly that will be tasked...

On Wednesday night, “The Amazing Race” takes flight, beginning its first season outside of the U.S. — in Munich, Germany. And starting outside the states is the first of several twists ahead in Season 34.
As the show continues on CBS, the racing teams will also, this year, be contending with more eliminations than the show has ever seen. There are no non-elimination rounds, it’s been announced.
Ahead of Wednesday night’s premiere, TheWrap spoke with host Phil Keoghan, who shared insight into what we can expect in the weeks ahead, including from former NFL coach Rex Ryan.
TheWrap: Before we get into the details of this season, can we talk about having Rex Ryan on ‘The Amazing Race’ this season?
Phil Keoghan: He’s one of those characters that’s just larger than life, and somebody who, when you see him on TV, he’s all of that and then a whole bunch more.
