Robert Burns(XXXII)
- Music Department
Robert Burns is widely considered the national poet of Scotland, and is internationally-known, despite living from 1759 to 1796. His notoriety is extended in part through the Burns Night, a supper held in his honour on his birthday, January 25. While "Scots Wha Hae" was once the unofficial national anthem of Scotland, "Auld Lang Syne" is his most known poem. The song pre-dated Burns, but much of the current lyrics are of his origin. The song is associated with New Year's Eve, or Homanay.
