Korean sales firm Finecut has inked multiple deals for horror thriller “Noise” and for “A Traveler’s Needs,” the recent Berlin prize-winner directed by Hong Sangsoo.
“Noise” is a “multi-sensory and realistic horror” film that intertwines societal motifs of “floor noise” with suspenseful elements. Directed by Kim Soo-jin, the film centers around a woman with a hearing aid haunted by inexplicable sounds linked to her sister’s disappearance in her own apartment and attracting a malevolent presence. The film is currently in post-production.
Among the pre-completion buyers are France’s Kmbo, Red Castle Group for the Cis region, Indonesia’s Prima Cinema Multimedia and Thailand’s Iris Cinema Thailand. Finecut will screen a promotional extract at its booth and in the Cannes Market.

South Korea’s Plus M Entertainment is set to launch sales on upcoming romantic drama Pavane: For A Dead Princess and action thriller Night Fever in Cannes.
Pavane: For A Dead Princess is directed by Lee Jong-pil, known for 2020 comedy drama Samjin Company English Class and 2015 period drama The Sound Of A Flower.
It will reunite Lee with Samjin actress Ko A-sung, who also played the lead in Because I Hate Korea, which opened last year’s Busan International Film Festival. Further cast includes Byun Yo-han of box office hit Hansan: Rising Dragon and Moon Sang-win of drama series Wedding Impossible.

Seoul-based sales company Finecut has acquired international sales rights to horror thriller Noise ahead of the upcoming European Film Market.
Presented by Kc Ventures and produced by Studio Finecut (Christmas Carol), the film is currently in post-production. Finecut will present first-look images at EFM.
The pic follows a woman with a hearing aid haunted by inexplicable sounds linked to her sister’s disappearance and attracting a malevolent presence. The synopsis reads: As the story unravels, a bone-chilling secret and mystery entity are revealed after the unnerving noises. The film delves into the unsettling issue of floor noise, a prevalent concern in contemporary societies.
Noise marks the feature debut of director Kim Soo-jin, whose short film The Line played the Cinefondation Selection at the 66th Cannes Film Festival. Lee Sun-bin takes on the role of a woman with a hearing aid searching for her missing sister. Kim Min-seok takes on the role of the missing sister’s boyfriend. The downstairs neighbor is portrayed by Rye Kyung-soo, known for The Bequeathed.
Recent Finecut sales titles include the drama Victory, directed by Park Beom-su (Red Carpet) and produced by Anna Lee’s Annapurna Films with backing from Mindmark. Brave Citizen, a vigilante action movie, has been sold to Kadokawa Kplus for Japan, Moviecloud for Taiwan and Lumix Media for Vietnam, while inflight rights have gone to Kairos Distribution.

Taglines: "An ancient man-eating monster awakens." Monstrum is an action horror film from South Korea. Originally titled Jakseoui Byeon, this title has already released on the Shudder streaming platform. Now, Monstrum will show on more home entertainment formats this November. Shudder has unveiled a new official Us trailer for the Korean monster movie titled Monstrum, which originally opened in South Korea in late 2018. This is finally getting a streaming release in the Us this week, for those who have been waiting to catch it. Set in the 16th century during the time of the plague, a mythical vicious creature has been rumored to be roaming Mount Inwangsan. Yoon Gyeom is a loyal subject of King Jung Jong of Joseon. He is sent to find and fight a monster that threatens King Jung Jong's life causing panic among the people.
