Amrita Mahadik is an independent filmmaker.
She has written, directed, edited and produced quite a few shorts and documentaries.
She has composed music with the screen name 'Desmalhar'.
She is an alumna of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII).
She did her Post Graduate Diploma in 'Film Editing' from FTII.
She also happens to be an alumna of the Center for Performing Arts (specializing in Hindustani Classical Vocal Music)
and Department of Media and Communication Studies (specializing in Video Production) at Savitribai Phule Pune University.
Her first documentary 'Desire of the Moth' on the Pune based Artiste Shakuntala Patade
was positively applauded for it's creative content and fetched accolades for Amrita.
Since then she has continued to direct and edit quite a few documentaries on some inspiring women.
This includes 'Vyomagami', a documentary based on the life and work of senior Bharatanatyam Exponent, Sangeet Natak Academy Awardee, Dr Sucheta Bhide Chapekar
and 'Comrade Shanta Ranade' a documentary based on senior activist, social worker and writer late Comrade Shanta Ranade.
Amrita has produced, conceptualized, written, directed and edited the Music-Video of the song 'Kathagaan', composed by the Bollywood music band 'Kailasa', sung by Bollywood singer, performer Kailash Kher.
