At his “Seth Rogen Smokes the Bowl” show on Tuesday night, Rogen transformed the Hollywood Bowl into a stoner’s paradise.
The music and comedy show, which was part of the Netflix is a Joke festival, featured a star-studded lineup of performances from Snoop Dogg, Post Malone, Lil Dicky, Bill Burr, Ramy Youssef, Ronny Chieng and Abbott Elementary‘s Janelle James. The event benefited his and wife Lauren Miller’s non-profit Hilarity For Charity, which advocates for individuals and families impacted by Alzheimer’s disease.
Rogen kicked off the night by lighting a giant bong that was planted on the Bowl stage, channeling an Olympic opening ceremony as the Hollywood Chamber Orchestra played alongside him. Lil Dicky sang the national anthem (as well as a few of his hits), as Rogen returned to tell the orchestra, “I can’t imagine as you were practicing your entire lives to be amazing...

Seth Rogen is a transparent pot-lover, something audiences have been aware of all the way back to his 2008 stoner film Pineapple Express. In the last few years, the multi-dimensional creative, founder of the cannabis and smoking accessories brand Houseplant, also has found solace in creating artistic clay-molded ceramic pieces.
In addition to selling pre-rolls, Rogen’s first couple of Houseplant products were crafted and polished by his hands in a Los Angeles ceramics studio, such as tall retro ashtrays and blob-covered pots that appeared as if they materialized from a colorful scene in a Dr. Seuss novel. The company’s aim: destigmatize cannabis usage through tastefully sophisticated products with a pristine eye towards functional design.
Founded in 2019, the Houseplant company includes a wide range of glazed clay objects, mugs, and marijuana strains tested by Seth and his co-founder, Evan Goldberg. Recently, they even curated three different box sets of vintage...

Paramount Pictures hosted a ‘Friends & Family’ screening for its new Johnny Knoxville-starrer Sweet Dreams at L.A.’s Laemmle Royal on April 1. Even with a handful of comedians in the building and a date that coincided with April Fool’s Day, the world premiere of filmmaker Lije Sarki’s recovery-centered softball dramedy was no joke.
The scene mirrored much larger Hollywood premieres as members of the starry cast and their friends (Anderson .Paak, Bobby Lee, Lil Dicky) mingled with movie stars (Josh Brolin, Shia Labeouf). Guests took advantage of a red carpet complete with a veteran Tinseltown photographer (Todd Williamson) while others waited in long lines simply to get into the Laemmle (an overflow theater was added to accommodate the number of RSVPs).
Three days later, Sarki was still soaking it in. “It’s wild to me to have that much support,” said the filmmaker over coffee on the...

In his final public appearance before the series finale of “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” Larry David joined MSNBC’s Ari Melber Friday night for a special discussion in Manhattan hosted by Tribeca Festival.
David, a Brooklyn native whose distinctly New York Jewish comedy migrated to the golf courses of West Los Angeles, was warmly welcomed by an audience of a few hundred. He waved off a standing ovation before taking a seat.
When asked if he feels more Jewish when returning to New York, David scoffed: “Can I feel more Jewish? … That’s maxed out. But I do feel comfortable here.”
After a highlight reel of “Curb Your Enthusiasm’s” funniest moments, Melber began the night by asking David to weigh in on issues of social etiquette — “Curb”-ian conundrums such as when it’s appropriate to leave a dinner party (“10 minutes after dessert”) and how long it should take to...

Washington, D.C. — Kevin Hart was feted Sunday with the Kennedy Center’s Mark Twain Prize in a traditionally raucous affair that drew praise and flak in equal measure from a handful of comedic colleagues on hand for the occasion. The ceremony will air later this year on Netflix as part of the streamer’s multiyear deal with the Kennedy Center event.
Previous Twain honoree Dave Chappelle was on hand to salute the multifaceted entertainer whose standup comedic talents are matched by his prowess as film actor, producer, restauranteur and beverage magnate. So was Jerry Seinfeld, Chris Rock and Tiffany Haddish, among other friends and fellow comedians.
That extensive resume was ample grist for colleagues who trooped onto the Center’s Concert Hall stage as Hart and his family sat in a nearby box. The show concluded with the presentation of the award, a miniature Twain bust, by Kennedy Center chairman David Rubenstein.

As Kevin Hart sat in the audience with family and friends for The Kennedy Center Mark Twain Prize, there were many jokes about his height, quips about his wealth and jabs at his productivity.
What there was very little of was anything political, reflecting Hart’s own style that tends to avoid such topical humor.
Chris Rock did have one moment, though.
“The Mark Twain Award this year. If Trump wins, next year will be the Mark Fuhrman award,” Rock said.
As the audience laughed, Rock added, “It’s going to be nothing but banjos up there.”
He also was among the comics who did a bit of roasting of Hart. “Look at that smile,” Rock said. “You got that second wife happiness.” Hart, surrounded by his wife and kids, laughed.
Like others, though, Rock talked of Hart’s rise to become one of the most successful comedians of all time,...

Netflix has become the latest home for the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor.
The streamer has struck a multi-year deal with the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts to air the event. Last year, the event aired on CNN and before that PBS aired it for over 20 years. Comedy Central hosted it before PBS.

It sounds more like “Bye, I’m Dave,” at least for now.
Dave Burd — Lil Dicky, if you prefer — is taking a step back from his FX comedy after three seasons. It’s not a cancellation, those close to the show are quick to point out, but there are no plans for a return of Dave anytime soon.
“After some back and forth, there are no current plans for a fourth season of Dave right now, as Dave Burd has decided to take an extended break to focus on music and other ventures,” reads a statement from FX, which both aired the series on Fxx and Hulu and produced it under the FX Productions shingle. “That does not rule out the possibility of doing something in the future. There are “no current plans” for a fourth season of the Fxx comedy as co-creator and star Dave Burd “presses pause” to focus on other things.
Burd, otherwise known as Lil Dicky, has long talked about his music career and wanting to record more albums. Penith, the soundtrack to Dave, featuring the single “Mr. McAdams,” was released last month.

Quentin Tarantino and Brad Pitt will collaborator for the third time and final time on the director’s upcoming “last film,” The Movie Critic.
Confirmation of the duo’s reunion came in a report published by Deadline on Thursday, which revealed that Pitt has signed on to the film. Which role he’ll be playing is still unknown, but last year it was revealed that Tarantino was looking for a “new leading man” in the “35-year-old ballpark” for the leading role, so it’s unlikely that Pitt will take on that part.
So far, what we know about The Movie Critic is that it will take place in California in 1977, with a plot following a “a guy who really lived, but was never really famous, and he used to write movie reviews for a porno rag,” as Tarantino told Deadline last year. David Andrew Burd, better known by his rap name Lil Dicky, co-created, writes, and stars in the FX series Dave, which is partly based on his own life. His transition from viral meme to bonafide rapper to television star capable of attracting cameos from Brad Pitt, Drake, and Rachel McAdams is either an anomaly or a sign of the uniquely transferable skills seen in today’s rap music. Whatever the case, Burd has solidified himself as an artist who takes his work seriously, dick jokes and all.

Unlike a movie, a TV show is not generally meant to be consumed in a single sitting. It is, at least in theory, designed to be enjoyed episode by episode. So having already celebrated the best series of the year (and the best TV performances), we’re here now to highlight a few individual chapters that particularly stood out to us from our hundreds and hundreds of hours of viewing.
As a rule, we excluded any title that had already made either of our individual top 10s. (Sorry, Richie episode of The Bear. And “Long, Long Time” from The Last of Us. And half this season of Succession. Half this season of Reservation Dogs. And, and, and …) This was in part to save ourselves the trouble of singing praises we’ve already sung so many times before, but mostly in an effort to spread the love. For the same reasons,...

Dave Burd, aka Lil Dicky, has announced Penith, the previously teased soundtrack to his Fxx series Dave. The album is out on January 19th, but you can hear the first single “Mr. McAdams” now. Stream it below.
Spanning 22 tracks, Penith collects songs that were scattered throughout the first three seasons of the show. It also doubles as Lil Dicky’s first new album in eight years. Pre-orders are ongoing, and you can check out the artwork below.
“Mr. McAdams” pays tribute to actor Rachel McAdams, who appeared in the Season 3 finale as herself. Both the song and video call back to the episode, in which Dave films the music video with McAdams. “Girl, just let me prove that I’m him,” Lil Dicky raps.
In a statement, Lil Dicky described the song as “a tongue-in-cheek ‘shoot your shot’ at even your dream girl kind of jam.” He continued, “It’s...

There were so many celebs in attendance at the 2023 GQ Men of the Year party in Los Angeles this year, with Kim Kardashian, Megan Thee Stallion, and Megan Fox among those bringing star power to the event.
Kim matched her blonde hair to her suede dress while co-hosting the event alongside fellow honorees Travis Scott, Tom Ford, and Jacob Elordi on Thursday (November 16) at Bar Marmont in Los Angeles.
Prior to the main event, GQ global editorial director Will Welch and his co-hosts invited 40 notable guests to the Chateau Marmont Penthouse for an exclusive VIP dinner, presented by Spotify.

It isn’t always exhausting rooting for the anti-hero, at least when the anti-hero is Jack Black. On Wednesday night, the actor and comedian used his time during the Give Back-ular Spectacular! Show at Los Angeles’ Orpheum Theatre to serenade attendees with a little Taylor Swift.
After stripping down to just his undies and his socks and then doing a little crowd work, Black asked the audience for requests. A few people called out suggestions, and after refusing one song — “we’re in a strike,” he says — he latches onto one he can do.

Film and TV crew members and support staff have been hit hard by the double Hollywood strikes. The latest relief effort, announced last month, comes from Friends co-creator Marta Kauffman, Paul McCrane and Paul Scheer, who are spearheading a live fundraising event in partnership with The Union Solidarity Coalition.
Titled Give Back-ular Spectacular!, the two-hour variety show at The Orpheum Theatre, which will be live-streamed, will showcase about 30 performers, including Jeremy Allen White, Halle Berry, Bryan Cranston, Lily Tomlin, Lil Dicky, LeVar Burton, Kumail Nanjiani and Patton Oswalt. It will feature games, sketches, standup, some improv, musical acts as well as magic from Penn & Teller.
Without revealing too much to not ruin the surprises, Kauffman teased some of the numbers.
“Let me just say, we have a sketch about out-of-work actors auditioning for Magic Mike,” she said. “We have wonderful actors doing monologues they should never be doing, we...

At the risk of sounding antisemitic, I’m not overly concerned about antisemitism. I don’t sweat the increasing number of neo-Nazis or the rise of rabid antisemitic dialogue across the internet. Rarely do I stress over celebrity slander or anti-Israel rallies at universities. But I am Jewish after all, so I have to worry about something. So, what does concern me? It’s not the hate from the few. It’s the indifference of the many.
I’d imagine that most people would be surprised to hear that Jews make up only about 2% of the U.S. population, and only 0.2 percent of the global population. Even in America, many adults have never met a Jew before. So why should someone who has no connection to Jewish culture care about Jewish people? The answer is that they probably shouldn’t.

Love is in the air. Last season, Dave Burd got one step closer to his dreams as a huge rapper in the mainstream. This season, the Fxx series takes a deeper dive into Dave Burd’s first tour and the overarching theme for Lil Dicky is finding true love. Throughout the ten episodes, the misadventures of Lil Dicky see him come close to being assaulted, killed by a chainsaw, and watching a psycho pee right in front of him. Dave has never been afraid to push the boundaries of comedy and surrealism before. Does the third season expand on the popular...

Former “Bachelor” contestant Josh Seiter has denied allegations he was behind Monday’s death hoax on his own Instagram page.
“Those are all ridiculous accusations made up by somebody with nothing better to do with their time,” he told EW via email.
“As a mental health advocate, issues of suicide are very sensitive for me. To suggest that I would orchestrate a death post around that issue is sickening. I have dedicated the last 8 years of my life blogging and raising awareness about mental health, and I will continue to do so. Regardless of what my detractors have to say,” he added.

It seems like there’s always something jeopardizing the TV calendar of late. Just a few years ago, this virus you may have heard about disrupted production and threw television into chaos. Now studios are staring down the specter of a double strike that threatens to upend the fall TV season and perhaps beyond.*

As bizarre as the fake death hoax around Lil Tay may be, eagle-eyed TV viewers may be scratching their heads over it due to an entirely different reason than the rest of the internet. The ongoing story around the 14-year-old influencer is eerily similar to a Season 3 episode of the Fxx comedy series “Dave” that premiered earlier this year.
A commentary on the trappings of fame in the social media age, the comedy from Dave Burd and Jeff Schaffer follows a fictionalized version of Burd as he tries to prove he’s one of the greatest rappers of all time. That quest leads to Season 3’s ominously titled “#RIPLilDicky,” which was directed by Ben Sinclair and written by Starlee Kine.
While Dave and his manager Mike (Andrew Santino) are trying to cancel Lil Dicky’s ongoing tour, the tour bus explodes. With no service and nowhere to go in the desert,...

From its writing and direction to an incredible soundtrack, “Dave” reached a creative penith this year. Nevertheless, viewership has remained low. One has to wonder if the newest season’s roster of guest performers was in part curated to fix that. Megan Fox, Jack Harlow, Don Cheadle, Drake and even Rachel McAdams all factor into Lil Dicky’s crude journey toward self-discovery, but the finale’s inclusion of Brad Pitt – Pete Davidson wanted him, but Dicky closed the deal – is so absurd and gut-bustingly funny that it’s impossible to ignore, which is sort of the point. And Dave Burd is nothing if not self-aware.
The third season’s finale, titled “Looking for Love” (no kidding), begins on the set of “Mr. McAdams,” a music video permitting our favorite man-child to serenade his childhood celebrity crush. After the shoot, Dave strikes up a conversation about window glass with Pitt, who...

Dave Burd, aka Lil Dicky, has revealed he will be putting out a compilation of music from his FX series Dave that will double as his first new album in eight years. In an interview with Variety, the actor and rapper said he hopes to put the project out by the end of this summer.
Burd said he thinks the body of work is “such a better representation of Lil Dicky” than his first album, and is currently working with producer (and frequent Dave guest star) Benny Blanco to finish “bits and pieces of songs” scattered throughout the first three seasons of the show.
“Sometimes you’ll hear 20 seconds of [a track], but I might have a full three minute version of that song that’s unreleased. I want to get that out to the world,” Burd explained, adding that he plans on including between 15 and 20 tracks on the album. “I was...

“Dave” and Lil Dicky fans, the artist’s first new music in eight years is finally coming to streaming services like Spotify and Apple Music later this year. Dave Burd, the “Dave” star/exec producer and rapper also known as Lil Dicky, is compiling tracks, and expanding other music cues, from the first three seasons of “Dave” that he plans to release shortly.
The album would serve somewhat as a “Dave” soundtrack but also as Lil Dicky’s first official release since 2015’s “Professional Rapper,” which was certified platinum and hit No. 1 on the Billboard Top Rap Albums chart.
“I’ve been making music ever since then,” Burd said. “I realized this year, as I took a step back and looked at all the different music that’s made it into the first three seasons of the show, there’s enough here, a great body of work and a project...

[This story contains major spoilers for the Dave season three finale, “Looking for Love.”]
If Dave breakout Tenea Intriago had made her high school basketball team she (probably) never would have found herself holding Brad Pitt and Lil Dicky hostage on screen in the FX comedy’s season finale. The 4-foot-11 actress says she’s always dreamed big and, until then, had her sights set on the WNBA. When she didn’t make the cut, she turned to theater and hasn’t looked back.
“I feel like I’ve been really lucky, because I started my Hollywood journey in the South,” Intriago tells The Hollywood Reporter. “I moved to New Orleans in 2012 and joined an acting class. I had heard that there were movies being filmed here, and that year I booked my first movie. So, it’s slowly just been a climb.”
A guest 2017 spot on Claws, which filmed in New Orleans, helped her land agency representation, and once she...

Joel Kim Booster (Loot, Apple TV+) Joel Kim Booster
My character summed up in one sentence Overachieving gay bully with an impeccable sense of style.
The part of my character I relate to the most Deep-seated and far-reaching insecurity that manifests as near-constant snark. And the style.
And the part I don’t His general sense of apathy.
Show on which I’d love to guest star Industry. I understand roughly 30 percent of what they’re talking about, but I’m still riveted.
The last celebrity who had me truly starstruck The first and only time I ever met Julia Roberts, my nose literally started to bleed.
The best note from my director “Let’s try one as scripted.”
My go-to snack on set Believe it or not, deviled eggs.
What a spinoff for my character might look like There are lots of allusions to his bizarre upbringing on a farm,...
