All Elite Wrestling has been gaining new momentum following the stellar Revolution pay-per-view. The event saw Sting’s in-ring farewell coupled with a card of other standout matches. The company also landed top free agents in recent months including Adam Copeland, Will Ospreay, and Kazuchika Okada. Another new face has been teased on the way as soon as Wednesday’s Aew Big Business edition of Dynamite from Boston. A PPV quality card headlined by Samoa Joe defending the Aew championship against Wardlow. Given the setting and timing, fans are anticipating the debut of Mercedes Mone. Despite all the excitement, Tony Khan still feels the challenges of running a large pro wrestling company. The head has been forced to weather his fair share of storms in terms of talent exits, managing a roster of strong personalities, and growing Aew’s audience. Through it all, the young owner maintains his trademark positivity.

Welcome to this edition of The Last Week In Wrestling, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and we have another good week to look at, so let’s see if Peter B. Parker can lay off the sauce…barbeque is okay.
Best Promo:
Zayn-Mania…Doesn’t Care (WWE) – Sami Zayn cut a great promo that made his heel turn from the last year or so even better. The idea was that he has pulled a Bret Hart and made himself into a face, but sees the people as evil, so he rejects them in the name of his immortal soul.
Best Move:
Trouble In Paradise (WWE) – Kofi Kingston used this finisher to finally get his first WWE World Title belt. Performed perfectly and eliciting the ultimate reaction, this is one of those times when a move goes way beyond just being effective.
Best Moment:
The Legend Finally Arrives...

Welcome to this review of Ring Of Honor’s/New Japan Pro Wrestling’s G1 SuperCard, which emanated from Madison Square Garden in one of the great moments of wrestling history. I’m Nathan Favel and right here on Nerdly, we have one of the biggest events in wrestling history to discuss, so let’s do so.
Match #1: The 30-Man Honor Rambo: Winner – Kenny King
My Opinion: 3 out of 5 – This was less about great wrestling and more about big surprises. The action was of a certain quality, which should neither condone nor condemn the match itself. In what may have set the precedent for the card, the Japanese wrestlers were the best thing here. Overall, this match got the crowd excited, which is just fine.

Welcome to this review of Ring of Honor’s Death Before Dishonor Pay Per View, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and we have seven matches to get to, so let’s do so.
Match #1: Kenny King beat Jushin Liger
My Take: 3 out of 5
This was a good match that was booked to establish King as a heel, or at least getting closer to it. The action was good but the crowd didn’t seem to care. The crowd became a bit of a problem all night, by the way. Over-all, this was a good opener.
Match #2: The Briscoes (Jay and Mark) beat So-Cal Uncensored (Christopher Daniels and Frankie Kazarian) – Ring of Honor Tag Team Titles Match
My Take: 3.5 out of 5

Match #1: So Cal Uncensored (Frankie Kazarian & Scorpio Sky) beat The Briscoe Brothers (Jay and Mark) – Tag Team Match
This was the first of two matches for the Wgn portion of All In called Zero Hour. This was an excellent match that the crowd loved. The action was crisp and got the night started off right.
Match #2: The Over The Budget Battle Royal – Winner: Flip Gordon
This had a few surprises like Bully Ray and Tommy Dreamer, but the big shock came from Flip Gordon dressed in a mask and winning the match by eliminating Ray. Flip took the mask off and Ray was pissed. The crowd was thrilled that Flip won and so was I.

Match #1: Moose, Jordynne Grace, Colt Cabana, Ethan Page, Rocky Romero, Brian Cage, Billy Gunn, Jimmy Jacobs, Marko Stunt, Brandon Cutler, Punishment Martinez and others – Over The Budget Battle Royal For A Ring Of Honor World Title Match Later On The Card
Appearing on the Zero Hour portion of the card that will air on Wgn, this match will be a fun spectacle. I think they’ll go with Punishment Martinez to win this match.

Over the past six months, the wrestling industry has seen the retirement of two certified legends, men who belong in any Hall of Fame in the industry. Last November, after 39 years as a pro wrestler, the 65-year-old Genichiro Tenryu hung up his boots after a loss to Kazuchika Okada.
Then, just three weeks ago, 34-year-old Daniel Bryan was forced to announce his retirement coming off ten months of inactivity, the result of a host of concussions suffered over the course of his career.
All of this, of course, is a rather circuitous way of saying that wrestlers age differently. Some are able to compete for decades, while others find that their bodies give out on them when it seems like their careers are just getting started. For every Ric Flair, there’s a Magnum Ta.

Whilst he may not have officially signed with WWE as of yet, Shinsuke Nakamura’s first match in a WWE ring has already been announced. At the next Nxt: TakeOver special, Nakamura will face off against Sami Zayn in something of a dream match for pro wrestling enthusiasts. It promises to be something truly special.
Nakamura’s arrival in WWE is a genuinely big deal in the world of professional wrestling. He was one of the biggest stars in the history of New Japan Pro Wrestling, making up one third of the big three of the company along with Hiroshi Tanahashi and Kazuchika Okada. Those two may have continually fought over the Iwgp World Heavyweight Championship recently, but it is undoubtedly Nakamura who has the greatest potential to appeal to western audiences.

It’s that time of the year again, for New Japan Pro Wrestling’s The New Beginning pay-per-view series, beginning with February 11th’s Osaka show, which was headlined by Kazuchika Okada defending the Iwgp Heavyweight Championship against Hirooki Goto. Iwgp Heavyweight Champion Kazuchika Okada was in tears at his friend and stablemate Shinsuke Nakamura’s New Japan farewell show last month, but he has absolutely no plans to join Nakamura stateside.
According to Twitter user enuhito (@enuhito_eng), tomorrow’s edition of Japanese publication Weekly Pro Wrestling contains a vow from Okada: “I will never go to WWE.”
Last year, Dave Meltzer reported that WWE scouts were interested in all three of New Japan’s top stars – Okada, Nakamura, and perennial company ace Hiroshi Tanahashi. Tanahashi was doubtful to make the jump due to his age and status in Japan, while Nakamura’s journey has been well-documented. Okada – who turned 28 last November and is already among the best workers in the world – seemed like a natural fit for WWE, but he expressed an interest in staying with New Japan to help lead the company for the next several years.

Shinsuke Nakamura is on his way to World Wrestling Entertainment, and as such has been stripped of his Iwgp Intercontinental Title. This all but confirms his departure, as performers being stripped of titles outside of injury is a rarity in New Japan Pro Wrestling. In fact, this is the first time that the Intercontinental Title has been vacated since it was introduced in 2011.
The belt was initially a prop to get Mvp over, as he beat Toru Yano in a tournament final to become the first champion. Interestingly enough, in the first round of said tournament Mvp defeated the man who currently stands atop of Njpw, Kazuchika Okada. Since Mvp’s run there have been a total of seven champions, including Hirooki Goto, Hiroshi Tanahashi and Bad Luck Fale.
Unlike WWE, this secondary championship isn’t really secondary at all. Shinsuke Nakamura began his first reign in July 2012 by defeating Hirooki Goto,...
