Donald Glover is finally back with new music — kinda — releasing a new EP tied to the world of his new horror series about an obsessive pop fan, Swarm.
The five-song Swarm EP is “credited” to Ni’jah, the fictional pop star portrayed by Nirine S. Brown in the show, but the songs were primarily written and performed by the singer-songwriter Kirby. Glover executive produced the project and has a co-writing credit on the opening track, “Something Like That”; he also guests under his Childish Gambino moniker on the closer, “Sticky.

Billie Eilish is creepier than ever in a new teaser of her acting debut in Donald Glover’s upcoming Prime Video series, Swarm, premiering this Friday, March 17th.
In a clip that Eilish shared on Instagram, the pop superstar’s character seems to be interrogating the show’s protagonist Dre (Dominique Fishback). During the course of questioning Dre, Eilish finds out she had a vision of red “milk” spilled on the carpet. Upon receiving confirmation that Dre “hurt someone,” Eilish says, “Very good.” A separate teaser shared by Prime Video shows Eilish asking Dre (who apparently was once named Kayla) to name something she regrets.
Watch both teasers below.
Swarm, which is set between 2016 and 2018, centers around Dre, who plays an obsessed fan of a fictional Beyoncé-based pop star. It was co-created and executive produced by Atlanta writer-producer Janine Nabers and Donald Glover, the latter of whom directed the pilot.

Lukas Gage’s life has taken a complete 180 ever since he became a viral hit after releasing the now-infamous video of director Tristram Shapeero disparaging his apartment following a Zoom audition.
Since then, he’s appeared in “The White Lotus,” “Euphoria” and “You.” He’ll next star in “How to Blow Up a Pipeline” and was recently at SXSW to premiere “Down Low,” a raunchy queer comedy he not only co-wrote with Phoebe Fisher but also stars in with Zachary Quinto.
Gage is also becoming a go-to celeb for brand endorsements. His new deal is with Tequila Don Julio Rosado, helping promote the pink-hued spirit and the “P(arty) Time Off!” campaign. “Tequila on the rocks is my go-to,” Gage tells Variety. “I used to be a beer guy. Swarm, Prime Video’s new limited series from Donald Glover (in his first post-Atlanta project) and Janine Nabers (another Atlanta alum, as well as a writer on Watchmen), stars Dominique Fishback as Dre, a young woman from Houston whose entire life revolves around her fandom of pop icon Ni’Jah. In the first episode, Khalid (Damson Idris), the boyfriend of her sister Marissa (Chlöe Bailey), wonders why Dre is obsessed with someone who, deep down, is just a regular person like everybody else.
“She is not like everybody else,” an indignant Dre replies.

Prime Video’s Swarm kicked off the South by Southwest Film & Television Festival on Friday night with its world premiere – a two-episode screening that left audiences gasping and applauding.
“We know that the show is propulsive,” warned co-creator and showrunner Janine Nabers, who made the series (trailer below) along with Atlanta colleague Donald Glover, who directed the pilot. “We know that it’s going to evoke a lot of conversation. We know that people are going to have a lot of responses and may be angry or really inspired. So I just want you guys to know that if you have any feelings after watching this, and if you really want to tweet about it, then tweet at Donald.”

"Who's your favorite artist?" Ask that question enough times, with an edge in your voice and a persistent buzzing in the background, and it's liable to take on a scary quality, as we saw last month in the first teaser trailer for "Swarm." Beyoncé has her BeyHive, but the Swarm stings harder and it won't stop stinging until someone dies.
The new series from showrunner Janine Nabers and co-creator Donald Glover is set to premiere on the opening night of the South by Southwest Film & TV Festival in Austin, Texas, next month, before making its way to a screen near you on Prime Video. The pantheon of art about parasocial relationships is filled with hits, from Martin Scorcese’s “The King of Comedy” to Stephen King’s “Misery” to Eminem’s iconic hit “Stan,” which inadvertently created a whole new term for obsessive fans. Now, Donald Glover is making his own contribution to that canon with “Swarm,” a horror comedy about the scary world of pop music fandom. The full-length trailer for the upcoming Prime Video series has been released by Amazon.
“Swarm” stars Dominque Fishback, best known for her role in “Judas and the Black Messiah,” as Dre, a young woman who runs a stan account for the world’s biggest pop star, who — similar to Beyoncé’s Beyhive — has a fanbase known as “The Swarm.” Set in between 2016 and 2018, the show sees Dre, lonely and lost, embark on a cross-country trip that causes her to slowly lose her sanity and engage in multiple bloody murders.

At the beginning of 2022, Spotify shut down an internal studio that had been used to produce some of its original podcasts. 12 months later, the streaming service is promoting a different kind of Spotify studio: A fully-equipped production shop within the walls of its Los Angeles office.
Spotify laid out the creator-facing perks of its “At Mateo” facility in a post on its For The Record blog. The office is described as a “state-of-the-art music- and podcast-recording facility” filled with studios, lounges, and musical memorabilia. Visitors to the space can check out an amp used by the Stone Temple Pilots and a piano Norah Jones used to record her hit single ‘Don’t Know Why’.

Rihanna is enjoying her motherhood. The singer, who recently released her new song ‘Lift Me Up’ from the ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ soundtrack, spoke about her six-month-old son, whom she welcomed with boyfriend Aap Rocky in May, reports ‘People’ magazine.

According to ‘People’, in her upcoming fashion show ‘Savage X Fenty’ Volume 4, the ‘Diamonds’ superstar said she has featured in the “Mother Nature section.”

Tastemade, the digital food and lifestyle network, has tapped a bevvy of top YouTube stars -- including lifestyle vloggers Meghan Rienks and Arden Rose, and comedy creators Ian Hecox and Rickey Thompson -- for its latest Facebook Watch slate.
All of the series were developed via Facebook Watch’s influencer program, which Facebook launched last March to link up new media publishers with digital creators for collaborative series. Facebook funds and licenses the shows, after which they can roll out on other distribution platforms. Tastemade’s shows began rolling out in March and will run on Facebook Watch through December, with episodes ranging from five to seven minutes apiece.
In Sunday At Nana’s (which is currently live), Hecox will test his culinary chops alongside sharp-witted grandmothers, while Rose’s Adulting -- premiering in mid-September -- will take basic recipes and revamp them in a bid to impress friends and family.

Snapchat is tapping the digital creator field to launch a slew of new shows today alongside the likes of Emma Chamberlain, Rickey Thompson, Loren Gray, and FaZe Banks.
Creator Shows -- a new show format that Snapchat has developed especially for influencers -- is yet another way in which the company is expanding efforts to support the creator community, a Snap spokesperson said.
Creator Shows combine the vertical and hyper-visual storytelling that Snapchat has pioneered for the rest of its original programming with the kinds of organic Stories that influencers are already creating on their respective pages. Each Show will be authentic to its creator’s passions and will air in a repeatable format, with overarching themes like fitness, dance, beauty, fashion, food, motivation, and horoscopes.

Rickey Thompson is feeling himself. Why? Because he's booked, he's busy, and he isn't going anywhere.
Yes, this is a quote from one of his iconic Instagram posts . . . but it's also very much a summary of his current status. The 23-year-old former Vine star and current social media sensation has 3.7 million followers on Instagram, and celebs like Adele and Ariana Grande are fans of his infectious videos. But he's crossed over from digital success - to credits like YouTube Originals' Foursome and a Shorty Award for Instagrammer of the Year - to certified fashionista, walking the runway for Alexander Wang and starring in H&M's new "Stay True, Stay You" Pride campaign.
For the uninitiated, Thompson's videos are part vlog and part fanning over yourself. He's become famous for giving candid advice while worshiping himself, via a hilarious, Instagram-friendly format that sometimes looks like it was shot in an unfurnished apartment.

Top talent agency UTA has signed Rickey Thompson -- a 23-year-old comedic vlogger whose mukbangs, rant videos, and listicles have garnered 1.1 million YouTube subscribers.
Concurrent with his signing, Thompson was also named one of the faces of H&M’s pride collection -- which this year is themed ‘Stay True Stay You’ and features items touting rainbow insignia. That collection, which is also fronted by Laverne Cox, hit stores yesterday and serves to fete Lgbtq+ Pride Month, kicking off tomorrow.
UTA will rep Thompson in all areas, and describes the digital luminary as a “comedian, actor, model, and dancer.” Thompson first rose to fame on Vine for his monologues and dance clips, and subsequently forayed onto YouTube and Instagram, where he now counts 3.7 million followers -- among them celebrities like Adele, Ariana Grande, and Miley Cyrus. Thompson was named 'Instagrammer of the Year' at the 2019 Shorty Awards.

VidCon is teaming up with The Trevor Project -- a nonprofit that provides suicide prevention services for Lgbtq+ youth -- to highlight queer voices at the annual video convention this summer.
As part of the deal, Trevor will curate programming for VidCon’s community track. Panels will feature Lachlan Watson (of Netflix’s Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina), as well as Hannah Hart, Rickey Thompson, Miles McKenna, Lilly Singh, Elle Mills, Tre Melvin, Ricky Dillon, and more. Programming will cover the scary and liberating experience of coming out online, turn a spotlight on those who use their platforms for activism, and provide tools for how to stop cyber-bullying.
“VidCon’s top priority is to provide a safe environment, one with inclusive programming that reflects the online video industry’s diverse audience,” VidCon Gm Jim Louderback said in a statement. “As we mark the 50th anniversary of Stonewall and Pride celebrations around the world this summer,...

VidCon has added a bevy of bellwether 'Featured Creators' for its 10th annual gathering to be held this summer in Anaheim, Calif.
The Viacom-owned convention will welcome Alisha Marie, Madilyn Bailey, Rickey Thompson, Jason Nash, Smosh co-founder Ian Hecox, Simone Giertz, and Matt Steffanina. And given that VidCon plans to fete Og creators in honor of a decade spent in Anaheim, these stars will join a separate group of Founding Featured Creators -- or YouTubers who have been attending the event since its inception. The first round of Founding Featured Creators were announced in October, including Shay Carl, Ze Frank, Tay Zonday, Brittani Louise Taylor, and Julie Nunes.
Featured Creators -- and Founding Featured Creators -- attend VidCon for free, and appear across varied programming initiatives, including panel discussions, Q&As, and meet-ups.

YouTube Premium’s longest-running series is back.
The fourth-season trailer for racy comedy Foursome dropped this week, and while it’s still packed full of YouTube talent like leading lady Jenn McAllister (3.4 million subscribers) and Rickey Thompson, the hit show’s next installment is noticeably absent Logan Paul, who played McAllister’s overbearing older brother Alec for the first three seasons. Paul was cut from the series in January following his widely-criticized video showing a dead body in Japan's Aokigahara forest.
Foursome follows four friends through the trials and tribulations of being teenagers. In this latest season, set to premiere on Oct. 24, the Og foursome reunites for one last epic summer together before some of them graduate, leaving McAllister’s character to face her junior and senior years of high school alone.
The series, which has pulled in some impressive viewership numbers for YouTube, also stars Cameron Moulene and Sarah Gilman,...
